T

he International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG), also known as Rainbow

the Order and participate in community service and outreach activities. Some

of the most important an inuential women of our time are Rainbow alumni,

including Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor,  NASA Astronaut Dorthy Metcalf-

Lindenburger, and Senator Olympia Snowe.

“It’s fun, it’sservice, it’slearning, it’sgrowing”

Pam Hardy, Majority

Member

Hannah, 19, Rainbow Girl

Rainbow Girls participate in a wide variety of

activities focused on business, service, and fel-

lowship. The members collectively decide on

and plan their various activities. Adults are al-

ways close at hand to supervise and assist when

asked, but Rainbow is unique in that the young

women are responsible for making everything

a reality. In their meetings with their local group

(called an Assembly) and traditional ceremo-

nies, members learn the value of organization

and develop public speaking skills and poise.

Community service events allow members to

help organizations and causes they care about

with their time and talents.

What Does Rainbow Do? Meetings andCeremoniesRainbow Girls hold

business meetings

in their local Assem-

bly, where they plan

speaking skills

Service

thing in Rainbow.

Members participate

in service activities
