IntroductionAsian University Digital Resource Network (AUDRN)Asia Pacific Network for International Educationand Values Education (APNIEVE) 3. is a non-profit, non-stock Catholic educational institution in the Philippinesoffers academic programs from pre-elementary to post graduate and adult education levelshas a school for the deaf 4. a premier womens college in the Philippineswith all female students in the grade school,high school and college levels with a few deafmale students in the college Pre-school, adult education school, theschool for the deaf, graduate school havemale students. 5. From 1926 -1969, theAmerican Maryknoll sisters ranthe college. At present, a lay board oftrustees administers thecollege. 6. AUDRN promotes new ways that local knowledge(LK) can be collected, preserved, and shared by university faculty, researchers, library staff, and students, using inexpensive digital tools and media in teaching and learning, research, and expanding library and reference materials collections.AUDRN aims to share resources with Asian universities, particularly in preserving and sharing Asias LK, through training, online interest groups and a website. 7. Networking is facilitated identified champions in thedifferent HEIs who have demonstrated their expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to theadvancement of local knowledge in teaching and research. 10. Sharing Local KnowledgeAUDRN organized training events that featured documenting and sharing culture and local knowledge through Web 2.0 tools. 12. Two workshops:Preserving and SharingCulture through DigitalTools, hosted by DutaWacana ChristianUniversitySharing Culture & Service-Learningthrough Digital Tools inManila, Philippines,hosted by MiriamCollege 13. A series of 5 field camps to share research and/or academic projects on local knowledgeA series of 9 forums to share the integration of local knowledge into higher education curriculum 14. International Events An international conference-workshop in thein Manila Discovering Local Knowledge in the21st Century, Connecting Classrooms to theWorld in May 2011. 15. Conference : Researchprojects on the sharing, and teaching localknowledge using digitaltools from China, India,Indonesia, Vietnam andthe Philippines Workshop: A field work exercise of exploring local knowledge of Manila and of surrounding provinces. 16. An international camp, Weaving Local Knowledgein Asian Higher Education, an interactiveknowledge networking event which showcased bestpractices on discovering, sharing, and teaching localknowledge using digital tools in SoegijapranataChristian University in Semarang on May 23-25,2012. 17. Local Knowledge Research AUDRN, with funding from United Board,supports higher education institutions toconduct research in order to develop andevolve reference models for documenting LKand integrating LK into the curriculum usingdigital tools. 18. Sponsorship of Conferences APNIEVE will be co-sponsoring anInternational Forum on Teacher Education,along with the Chinese National Commissionfor UNESCO, and some other organizations,23-25 September, Shanghai, on the theme of"Professionalization of Teachers andInternationalization of Education. 34.
