Other Awards will be also given in the Conference: -Young Research Investigator on Medical Geology. The award will be based primarily on an essay on a medical geology topic by a young scientist. Academic record, professional history and other factors may also be considered. The IMGA Award committee will provide information on eligibility and criteria for selection. -Best Oral/Poster Presentation Webmaster URGENT!! Announcement: IMGA needs a new webmaster (dead line March 31) IMGA requires the immediate services of a webmaster for the site www.medicalgeology.org. As the webmaster you will become a member of the IMGA council, will pay no annual dues, and will be offered 1000 USD per year (or more depending on your experience).

The tasks will be to update the website regularly, reorganize the website making it more attractive and easier to use, and at a later stage remaking the website in a modern and attractive format. It is also necessary to refine the members only part of the website with functioning password. Applicants should be experienced with working with websites. A knowledge of CSS is good but not necessary. Students or researchers with a good knowledge in websites are welcomed to apply. The webmaster will have the opportunity of having contact with the vast international medical geology network. You will of course receive all necessary support from the IMGA council and the Senior Advisors of IMGA. You will work closely with the treasurer and secretary of IMGA. The webhotel is located in Singapore. You will have all passwords etc. for carrying out the work. You will also be the link to DIBS, the credit card provider in Denmark where all credit card payments are carried out. Please contact the secretary [email protected] with your CV and indicating your experience with websites.

Dues 2015 The period to pay membership dues is almost finished (April 1st). As the IMGA operation relies on the membership support it is urgent that all of us accomplish this URGENTLY. Remember that Professional membership IMGA annual dues are 55 USD=40 Euros. Student dues are 20 Euros. Also, please remember that if you pay for 4 years you will get the 5th year for free. Dues for African countries are half of those indicated above. The Executive Committee approved a reduction of dues for retired professionals to half the professional dues (one year and 5 years). It has come to our knowledge that when paying by credit card you get the following message: An error have occured! Please contact us ([email protected]) about your transaction:Please do NOT care about this. There is something wrong here which will be corrected. Your payment has gone through as planned.

Executive Committee short news

The last executive committee (EC) meeting was held through skype last Monday March 2nd. Important decisions were taken such as the travel support of students to attend the 6th International Conference on medical geology (MEDGEO2015), the 2015 budget, and beginning the elections procedure for elections of new EC members. Also approved was the stablishment of student and senior lecturers for IMGA. The EC is still working on the statutes and bylaws.

IMGA first webinar was held on November 21 with the Conference:

The invitation was delivered to all IMGA members. We had attendants from many countries who sent their congratulations to José.

IMGA second webinar was held on March 4 with the Conference:

IMGA Editor in Chief This conference was also a success, we had 26 attendants from 17 countries, who also sent their congratulations to Mark. We are now preparing the next webinar and invite all to join!! An annoucement will be delivered in advance by email.

Recent Publications on Medical Geology A new book on medical geography was published in 2014. 2 chapters are on medical geology, written by Olle Selinus. Nordic Geology and Health and Medical geology and medical geography: Applications and databases. Most of the authors are medical scientists or medical geographers. ISBN 978-91-86137-30-4 Another book has also been published by Springer: Ingegerd Rosborg: Drinking water minerals and mineral balance –importance, health significance, precautious principles. The book will cover many aspect of drinking water and health. There are two chapters in this book written by Olle Selinus.

A new and updated edition on Essentials of Medical Geology with new chapters was published in 2013. This book is recommended to all and as you can see on the cover it is an IMGA publication. IMGA does however not sell the book at reduced price because it would be cheaper to buy it on the net from different e-bookstores.

A new thesis on medical geology was presented in Denmark, Aarhus University in October. The title is Denitza Voutchkova: Iodine in Danish ground- and drinking water.

IMGA Students Poster The Students Commission prepared this wonderful poster to attract students. Please print , publish and promote it in the Chapters.
