Quando il contenitore si adegua al contenuto, quando lo analizza, lo studia e prende forma attorno a lui, allora l’architettura che si crea è un’architettura funzionale. Perché questo succeda, è necessaria una stretta collaborazione tra architetti e committenza, come è avvenuto per la scuola 1.14 The Kite. I protagonisti in questione sono Chiara-mente srl, una società che si occupa di educazione, con attività per bambini e ragazzi da 1 a 14 anni, con una visione educativa incentrata sul gioco, considerato importante per tutte le persone, ma soprattutto per i bambini. 1.14 è un team di educatori che ha l’obiettivo di sostenere le famiglie che si occupano dei figli dopo l’orario scolastico e durante le vacanze. L’approccio pedagogico usato è differente a seconda dell’età dei bambini: da 1 a 6 anni tutto è pensato come un gioco. Usano un approccio interdisciplinare: la fotografia per imparare a guardare le cose, il teatro per rappresentare se stessi e il mondo, le lingue e la musica per imparare ad ascoltare. Per i bambini dai 6 agli 11 anni si sviluppa e si potenzia il pensiero creativo: la fantasia ricombina e manipola gli oggetti, gli spazi e i punti di vista. L’ultimo gruppo, dagli 11 ai 14 anni segue un programma di valorizzazione dei talenti, per sperimentare sogni e atteggiamenti.Queste le parole del team di educatori: “Per gioco intendiamo non il mero divertimento, ma l’intreccio di libertà e regola: senza regola la libertà è arbitrio caotico, senza libertà la regola è vuota esteriorità. Si gioca solo quando si fa esperienza della propria libertà e dunque della regola che questa libertà richiede.”E in questo stesso intreccio tra libertà e regola ha lavorato lo studio C+S Architects (Carlo Cappai, Maria Alessandra Segantini) con un ‘approccio olistico’ in relazione con l’ambiente, con il bilancio e con i tempi brevi di consegna. Il nome ‘The kite’ nasce dalla forma del tetto che ricorda un aquilone, la struttura in cemento armato, non ha iso-lamento, ma lo spessore è tale che per inerzia termica, consente il riparo dal caldo estivo, mantenendo costante la

temperatura all’interno degli ambienti. Lo spazio è suddiviso in due ambienti: uno spazio multifunzionale più grande e uno di dimensioni inferiori per i bambini più piccoli, ciascuno con servizi indipendenti. Gli architetti hanno studiato un sistema energetico a emissioni e consumo zero e quindi in perfetto equilibrio con l’ambiente esterno, le coperture dei servizi delle piscine sono dotate di pannelli fotovoltaici e solari, che garantiscono il pre-riscaldamento dell’acqua delle piscine nella mezza stagione e degli ambienti interni durante l’inverno. L’esperienza dei C+S per la progettazione di altre scuole è visibile nel trattamento delle pareti interne che non sono solo arricchite dal colore per permettere un facile orientamento ai bambini, in questo caso diventano lavagne e superfici colorate, dove poter costruire con i lego.Attenzione anche ai dettagli, alle luci e alle ombre, la falda spiovente del tetto presenta un grande foro, un occhio, che proietta sul suolo un’ombra che cambia la sua posizione a secondo delle ore del giorno, occasione per i bambini per sperimentare e per giocare.

RCH It is named ‘L’aquilone 1.14’,

and it is a brand-new school in Fontanaviva, near Padua, which fosters a very innovative educa-tional program.

When the container adapts itself to the content - analyzing it, studying it and taking shape around it, it results in functional architecture. To achieve this, architectures and client must work together, as it happened at 1.14 The Kite school. The players are Chiaramente srl, a company in the educational field for kids from 1 up to 14 years, whose educational vision is focused on play, an activity considered essential for all, for kids in particular. 1.14 consists of a team of educators supporting families in after-school time and holidays. The educational approach varies depending on the age: from one to six, it is play-centered. An interdisciplinary approach is used - photography to learn looking at things, theater to represent yourself and the world, music and foreign languages to learn listening to. From 6 up to 11 years, the creative thought is developed and strengthened: phantasy remixes and reshapes objects, spaces and points of view. The last group, from 11 up to 14 years, is a program that promotes talents, to experiment dreams and beha-viors. As stated by the educational team: “Play is not mere amusement, rather it blends freedom and chaotic liberty; wi-thout freedom, rules are empty, outward appearance. You are playing when you undergo your freedom and the rules this freedom implies”.On this same blend of freedom and rules, based the work of C+S Architects archi-tectural firm (Carlo Cappai, Maria Ales-sandra Segantini), featuring an holistic approach considering the environment, the budget and the tight deadline. The name The Kite originates from the kite-shaped roof; the reinforced con-crete structure is not insulated, anyway, thanks to its thickness and to thermic inertia, summer heat is avoided and the internal temperature remains constant. The space is split in two environments: a bigger, multi-purpose one, and a smaller one for younger kids, each equipped with its own services. Architects develo-ped a zero emission and consumption energy system, therefore perfectly balanced with the outside; the roofs of the pools services are equipped with sun and photovoltaic systems which provide pre-heating of the pool water during the half-season, and of indoor in the winter. C+S’s experience in designing schools is well visible in the treatment of the internal walls, enriched with colors to allow kids to orient themselves, and that also become colored blackboards and surfaces to build Legos. A keen attention has been also paid to all details, lights, shadows; the pitched roof has a big hole – an eye – projecting a shadow on the floor, which changes its position depen-ding on the time, another incentive for play and experimentation.
