You have made an impactful decision for your child(ren) to study in Canada and you too can experience Canadian culture with your child(ren) while they are attending J. Addison School. This special program assists parents and families who accompany their children while they are pursuing their education in Canada. While staying in Canada with your child(ren), you will make new friends, become familiar with the Canadian education system, learn about new cultures and improve your English proficiency. This program will work closely with parents to compare and locate suitable living accommodations near our school, explore different modes of transportation, set up bank accounts, get acclimated with the local neighbourhood, and learn about other services that can facilitate a smooth transition to Canada. | INTERNATIONAL FAMILY SETTLEMENT ASSISTANCE (IFSA) FEE (Optional Service) $2000 CAD per family, one-time payment, all taxes included. Service Duration: From 3 months prior to landing to 6 months after landing. The settlement services fee is for the services rendered only. All other costs such as purchasing, processing, administration, and application fees, etc. (but not limited to these), are the responsibility of the parents. SERVICES PRIOR TO LANDING Searching for rental property: Providing information and photographs of properties available for rent; Advise on the condition of properties, surrounding neighborhood and amenities, time of commute, etc.; Advise with rental contract signing - Parents are responsible to make rental payments and deposits in advance as required by the landlord to secure their desired rental property; Assist with arranging utilities, as needed, such as Electricity, Gas, and Water; Assist with initial furnishing of the property: One-time receiving of delivery at the property is included; Additional costs may apply for additional services. SERVICES UPON LANDINGAirport Pickup - one time SUV/Van pick-up (maximum 4 passengers); additional costs may apply for extra passengers and/or vehicle.

SERVICES AFTER LANDINGBasic Services:

• Mobile Phone registration; • Assist in arranging Internet and Cable TV services;• Purchasing maps and navigation systems;• Purchasing international calling cards;• Accompaniment with purchasing of basic necessities;• Assist with opening of new Canadian bank account;• Provide information on specialized shopping centres within the proximity of

rental property and /or school, such as Furniture, Electronics, School Supplies, Basic Necessities and Groceries, etc.

• Provide directions to nearby locations of interest such as libraries, community centers, shopping centres, etc.

Car Purchasing/Rental (if needed):• Provide guidance and accompaniment with car purchase/rental for the

duration of your visit.• Assist with the car insurance application process (* An English version of

Accident-free Certification from your current insurance company must be provided).

Driver’s License (if applicable):• Assistance and providing interpretation with applying for driver’s license

exchange in the province of Ontario (*Must bring current driver’s license, Notarized translation, and Visa)

• Driver’s license authorization, if needed (*Must bring all necessary documents and license)

Rental Property Assistance:• Instructions with connecting and using security entrance codes, if applicable;• Instructions with handling garbage such as the locations of garbage bins

and recycling methods;• Instructions on using basic home appliances (such as Refrigerator, Oven,

Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Dryer, etc).• Assist with applying for home insurance.

Information Regarding Daily Life• Directions to nearby community centers, libraries and programs (provide

assistance on applying for library cards and community cards);• Registering cheques and making payments for rent;• How to use a map;• How to fill your car with gas;• Information on family and medical walk-in clinics.

Extra-curricular Activities for Child(ren)• Information on extra-curricular activities for child(ren) in the area.
