The Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran (PMO) is going to hold the 10th International Conference on Coasts, Ports and Marine Structures (ICOPMAS 2012) with the sponsorship of international maritime organizations, universities, contractors and consulting engineers. The overall theme of ICOPMAS 2012 is “Sustainable Development of Coasts, Ports and Marine Structures” and emphasizes on invigorating technical and professional cooperation as well as exchange of the latest scientific and executive achievements among the countries all over the world, especially coastal neighboring countries.In this respect, ICOPMAS secretariat recommends interested experts to visit the website for more detailed information: http://icopmas.pmo.ir 1

ICOPMAS, as one of the oldest and the most

important scientific events in Iran and the Persian

Gulf region, provides an appropriate ground for

exchange of the latest scientific innovations and

technical executive achievements by gathering

engineers, designers, scientists and researchers

in the field of coasts, ports and marine structures.

The conference will also be a think tank to improve

the knowledge of coasts and ports engineering. In

addition, “ICOPMAS” affords an international forum

for experts to present their capabilities to the world

and opens up new horizons for students to be

familiar with new research areas as well as the latest

approaches of marine society.

� Important Dates

On 27 May 1990, the first International Conference on Ports & marine structures was held

in Tehran University and in the twentieth year of this conference, the Ninth International

Biennial Conference on Coasts, Ports and marine structures (ICOPMAS 2010) on Nov.

28-30, 2010 was held at Olympic hotel-Tehran.

Prof. Yoshimi Goda has always supported

ICOPMAS to improve the scientific level of

conference and was the member of scientific

committee of ICOPMAS 2008 and 2010. We

remember Prof. Goda in particular by his

very active promotion of the exchange of

knowledge in the field of coastal engineering

with his keynote speeches and workshops

in ICOPMAS. His reviews were always critical, but at the same time mild

because he had an open eye for human relations and a good sense of humor.

Undoubtedly, we will miss Prof. Goda in ICOPMAS 2012.
