MULTI UTILITY Pilot project

• Provide AMI to multi utility systems:

• Uses PRIME PLC network as the main network

• LDC and gateway;

• Collect information of gas meters and convert to PRIME PLC network nodes

• Convert from wM-Bus to DLMS cosem/ PLC PRIME

• Concentrator in CT see electrical meter and LDC and gateway as PRIME nodes

• Back office manage the information colected from DC as DLMS cosem objets

MULTI UTILITY Pilot project

Recent Updates + Version 1.4

Expanded Frequency

Expanded Frequency PRIME bands span from CENELEC A band (<95kHz) to FCC and ARIB spectrums (<500 kHz)

with a data rate of 980kbps

Data Security for successful roll-out of large scale PLC-based networks. State-of-the-art encryption and authentication at

MAC and APP Layer by new Security ProfileSecurity

IPv6 Support

IPv4 and IEC 62056-4 -32 support, IPv6 support as a convergence layer over PR IME MAC and PHY layers.

Backwards Compatibility

Fully backwards compatible with the 4+ million installed meters, corresponding Data Concentrators and Gateways with

PRIME Specifications 1.3.6.

PRIME v1.4: robustness improvement, throughput increase, band extension, backwards capability + ALL the benefits of PRIME v1.3.6

Increased Robustness

New PHY PDU defined, adding increased robustness without additional complexity or cost implication

PRIME v1.4 - Reality beyond Metering

Version 1.4 now:

• makes PRIME fit any grid or environment worldwide:

– FCC and ARIB bands (0 – 500 kHz)

• makes PRIME fit any application worldwide:– Medium voltage transmission, automotive

comms, …

• projects PLC for Smart Metering into Smart Grid:– LV grid remote control applications.– LV infrastructure control and knowledge:

transformer, feeder and phase identification.

The Benefits

PRIME is a vendor independent and license free public communication standard based on utility-owned assets

Independency

Decentralized network architecture approach provides distributed intelligence with actionable intelligence at site. Distributed intelligence

eliminates bulk risks.Lower Risk

Future Proven

Investment

A system platform based on open standards eases the integration of future communications, grid monitor & control solutions in MV, LV and in-

home networks

Non-proprietary, license-free open standard that results in lower meter device costs (CAPEX) & lower communication carrier cost (OPEX)Lower Cost

End-to-End Solution

A solution serving utilities communication needs due to vertical integration of medium and low voltage networks, in-home and

distributed energy resources

Reality Proven

The only PLC based open standard that is mass deployment proven, providing a mature and complete ecosystem

The Standardisation

•PRIME is already an approved Worldwide standard by ITU

–Published as ITU-T Recommendations G.9901 and G.9904–PRIME Alliance to become an ITU-T A.4/A.5 qualified organization
