Cape Town International Airport

is the primary airport serving

the city of Cape Town, and is

the second busiest airport in

South Africa and third busiest in

Africa. located approximately

20 kilometres (12 mi) from the

city centre, the airport was

opened in 1954 to replace

Cape Town’s previous airport,

Wingfield Aerodrome. Cape

Town International Airport is the

only airport in the Cape Town

metropolitan area that offers

scheduled passenger services.

The terminal building has a split-level design,

with departures located in the upper floors

and arrivals in the lower floors; an elevated

roadway system provides vehicular access to

both departures and arrivals levels. All check-in

takes place within the Central Terminal Building,

which contains 120 check-in desks and 20

self-service kiosks.

Please note that you will need to purchase a ‘myconnect’ bus card from the main station at the Civic Centre in hertzog Boulevard or participating retailers in the area. For a full list please visit the MyCiTi website. The card costs R23 and you will need to load it with travel credit. Journeys within the city centre feed-er route cost R5.30 and travel between the city centre and Table View is R10.60 each way.The MyCiTi Airport ser-vice offers a safe, com-fortable and reasonably priced option to get you between the Cape Town International Airport and the City Centre. Current routes link the tourist playground of the cen-tral city with major land-marks, such as the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain Cableway, Sea Point Promenade and pristine beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, with the sea-side fishing village of hout Bay along the Atlantic Seaboard.
