• Identifying any issues that may be preventing ILOs from fulfilling their INIS mandate
• Determining whether their is need for additional support from the INIS Secretariat

• was conducted in June-September 2007
• special questionnaire was sent to 117 INIS Centres
• 31 personal/telephone interviews
Analysis is based on 75 completed questionnaires we received (~ 65%)

• Majority of ILOs are not working 100% for INIS
• ~45% of INIS Centres do not have sufficient financial and/or human resources to fulfil INIS Members and therefore are not able capture relevant information for the INIS DB
• Highest priority of INIS Members is the preparation of input to the INIS Bibliographic and NCL databases
• Information services, marketing and promotion have lower priority

• 60% of INIS Centres require assistance from the INIS Secretariat in form of new efficient input preparation tools and stressed the importance of resuming INIS Training Seminars
• 75% of ILOs stated that marketing & promotion activities could reinforce the image of INIS and consider joint marketing plan as a mechanism to facilitate these activities
• Many ILOs are in favour of opening free access to the INIS DB, emphasising that it could increase INIS DB usage and make marketing easer

• In the year 2007, a total of 117,447 records were added to the INIS Bibliographic Database
• CAI – Computer Assisted Indexing system increased performance and became available for INIS Centres in “batch mode” and “remotely”
• MET - Metadata Extracting and Editing Tools (will be available for INIS Members at the end of 2009)
