countries in 2018 and total trade
turnover of 10.5 billion US
dollars, of which exports $ 6.2
billion, Imports were $ 4.3 billion,
up from $ 27.3 billion in the
previous year.
200.9M passengers were
registered in 2018. 98.0 percent
of passengers by road transport
and others railways(1.2),
airways(0.7) and waterways(0.1).
In 2018, Mongolia delivered 69.8
million tones of cargo. Of this,
25.6 million tones were
transported by railways, 44.1
million tones by road transport
and 0.57 million tones by
airways.

FACILITATION MEASURES AT RAILWAY BORDER CROSSINGS
RUSSIA to CHINA CHINA to RUSSIA1. Technological time:
• Train receiving procedure time at Zamiin-Udestation was 420 minutes:
• Mongolia introduced parallel technology system:train receiving procedure time reduced by 173minutes (248 minutes).
2. Fast processing of container trains:
• Excluded the locomotive changing procedure forwhole travel;
• Technical maintenance technology is reduced attechnical station from 60-70 minutes to 30-40minutes.
Reducing the travel time: freight transportation 850-950 km per day.
Russia to China: 28 hours, became 27% faster
China to Russia: 31 hours, became 26% faster

CHALLENGES
• Supply more wagons for reloading both on Zamiin-Uud and
Erlian stations.
• Enhance cooperation between internal and external
stakeholders: Electronic information exchange between
railways and control authorities.
• Reduce long time taken for freight trains to cross the border
at the Erlian/Zamiin-Uud.
• Improve transshipment operations, reloading/receiving
capacities.
• Need capacity building on transport logistic services .

CONCLUSIONS
• To build suitable Transport Legal and Policy
Framework;
• To increase investment for building selected
intermodal transport corridors and logistics
networks ;
• To promote intergovernmental transport agreements
for reducing travel time along corridors, time spent
land borders and transportation costs;
• To integrate Regional Transport Corridors and
• To enhance regional cooperation for capacity
building on transport sectors.
