Bruno Kny, born 1903 in Steinschoenau, Sudetenland, started his career in his homecountry as the manager of the largest chandelier company in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. After fl eeing from Sudetenland he came to upper Austria and was able to gain a foothold here very soon. At fi rst he was employed in a company as head of the chandelier production. later he was appoin-ted plant manager.in 1956, Bruno Kny, together with his son Gerold Kny, founded the company Kny & Son in ramingdorf.Currently, the company in third generation, has Harald Kny at the helm, grandson of the founder. He was appointed managing director in 1989.At the beginning the focus was lying on living room lighting, particularly on maria-Theresia chandeliers.Today the program has a much wider spectrum. now we offer master plans for mansions, hotels, restaurants, ships and public buildings. Our production and supply capabilities include high quality furniture, de-corative lighting for indoor and outdoor use and ornate metal and glass for interior and exterior architecture.

We have drawn a bridge between tradition and innovation.We are a small, but highly specialized Austri-an family owned company that will meet your requirements and expectations.

Kny Design is working innovative in the area of lED technique.With printed circuit boards developed by ourselves we can put together any kind of surface and light it.With just one kind of software different colour scenes and colour gradients can be realised. Crystals, plastic fi lms and glass can be lit from the back; the application possibilities are unlimited, for example for the installation in walls, furniture, fl oors, ... The shown example is our crystal-bar which is lit from behind.

Construction-project of a mosque in minna for Bilfi nger & Berger. We were offered the task of fi nding a new form of roof-cladding and accomplished this by utilizing gold anodized aluminum panels which were precisely calculated, producted and installed.

For this mosque project we delivered all decorative gates, dividers between the praying-area of women and men, as well as the complete lighting-system installation.

The client required a light sculpture that marks the driveway to a convention building. Through the design of a three-dimensio-nal body of brass and copper panels with indirect lighting, we solved the task optimally.

in the planning-phase of the Gmunden hospital it was obvious that the architectual concept should express the triad between body, mind and soul. Our task included the light-concepts for the forecourt, facade and important areas in the interior area.

Masterly manufacture

Our quality standards are far above what our competitors offer. You, as our customer, can rest assured to receive only the best. Starting from the design phase we place special emphasis on concepts in which we don’t leave out the de-tails.

Some make their purchasing decisions based solely on price. We do not claim to be a low-cost provider, true quality has its price and the connoisseur will always take this into consideration. Our products are – in terms of what you as the customer gets - good value but not low-cost. You will find enjoyment in our products for many years to come.

During casting, even fine ornaments are clean in detail. Our castings use a special alloy containing silver - the price of this alloy is three times higher than of brass. For bands, hoops, lamp-holder brackets etc. pure brass is used, which undergoes ennobling. All electrical cables are silicone-sheathed and designed for continuous temperatures of 180°C. C lamps and lamp hol-ders are made out of ceramics. Electrical problems do not occur even after using the lamps for many years.The ennobling, be it gold or silver, is well above lighting-industry standards.

All supporting structures within the chandeliers are made entirely of stainless-steel.

Furthermore, we greatly value the use of the highest quality crystals. Wherever possible we use only the finest Swarovski crystals. Shapes which are not offered by Swarovski are manufactured by ourselves in the highest possible quality.
