• The map below shows the location of the world's tropical rainforests.   Rainforests cover only a small part of the earth's surface - about 6%, yet they are home to over half the species of plants and animals in the world . Rainforests can be found in over 85 countries around the world!

• The rainforest is home to more than half of the world's animals. All types of creatures are represented, from tiny insects to large mammals.

Many of the animals found in the rainforest are becoming endangered because their homes (trees) are being cut down!

• Tropical rainforests are very wet, and very warm in temperature.

• It can rain EVERYDAY in the rainforest!!!• Rainforests can get up to 60-70 inches of rain in 1

year!• It is usually between 75-80 degrees all year long

in the rain forest. (This would be like having early summer weather all year!)

• There are two major types of rainforest: temperate rainforests and tropical rainforests.
