• The map below shows the location of the world's tropical rainforests.   Rainforests cover only a small part of the earth's surface - about 6%, yet they are home to over half the species of plants and animals in the world . Rainforests can be found in over 85 countries around the world!

• Tropical rainforests are very wet, and very warm in temperature.

• It can rain EVERYDAY in the rainforest!!!• Rainforests can get up to 60-70 inches of rain in 1

year!• It is usually between 75-80 degrees all year long

in the rain forest. (This would be like having early summer weather all year!)

• Rainforests are found on every continent across the Earth, except Antarctica.

• There are two major types of rainforest: temperate rainforests and tropical rainforests.

• The largest temperate rainforests are found on North America's Pacific Coast and stretch from Northern California up into Canada.

• Rainforests are critical in maintaining the Earth's limited supply of drinking and fresh water.
