To all of my dearest fans, as we all know Christmas

is just around the corner. Along with the rest of the

mayhem, including the shopping sprees at every

store in town, decorations hung up on almost every

house on your street, not to mention the constant

eatings. I know, Ive been there and Im still at it.However, I have also been trying to nd more easier

ways to save on a ton of cash. This year Ive decided

to make a holiday special for those exact reasons.

Because we all just want a little bit of whats left in

our wallets to ourselves, dont we? Dont we want

to stay on our budget without overspending on the

next hottest item in the store?

This is also the time of year when spending for gifts

is out of control; people dont know what to buy or

its sold out. I have asked permission from a fewstores who gladly let me use them as a reference

for this issue. Rue 21, JC Pennys, and Maceys are

what I would recommend on what to buy for a great

price. Along with a bunch of other small stores you

can nd at your local mall.

    Letter from Editor

    Food as well,

    has become a

    big issue not

    just during the

    holiday season,

    but for thelast few years.

    Citizens are

now a days either on the breaking point of

obese, or they already are obese. I have a

solution to x that. On our part, the Wensley W

staff and I have voluntarily put in at least three

recipes that not only taste good, but are goo

you. I would most denitely use them if you w

get back into a size fourteen after the winter b

Of course exercise in needed too, but this should help along the way.

All in all, This issue should be pretty good if y

the type of person who wants to save a bun

cash and yet still get a better end of the dea

if you like to eat but you also want to keep

    hourglass gure.

    Pear & Ginger Cheesecake

    Ingredients:6 dried pear halves, chopped

    1/3 cup crystallized ginger

    1/2 cup water

1 cup low-fat granola, (without dried fruit)

16 ounces nonfat or low-fat cottage cheese, (1 3/4 cups)

    16 ounces nonfat cream cheese

    1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

    3 large eggs

    1/3 cup all-purpose our

    2 teaspoons vanilla extractDirections:

    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Coat a 9-inch spring form pan with cooking spray.

    2. Place pears, ginger and water in a medium saucepan; bring to a simmer over

medium heat. Reduce heat to a gentle simmer, cover and cook until the liquid has been

absorbed and the fruit is softened, 10 to 14 minutes.

    3. Meanwhile, process granola in a food processor or blender until nely ground. Pour

it into the prepared pan; turn and tilt the pan to coat the sides and press down into the

bottom to make an even layer.

    4. Transfer the pear mixture to a food processor; process until a coarse paste forms,

scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary. Let cool for 10 minutes. Add cottage cheeseand cream cheese; process until combined. Add granulated and brown sugars; process

until smooth, scraping the sides as necessary. With the processor running, add eggs one

at a time. Add our and vanilla; process until creamy. Pour the batter into the prepared

pan. Rap the pan against the counter a few times so the granola on the sides falls onto

the batter, forming a decorative edge.

    5. Bake the cheesecake until set, without a jiggle at the center when the pan is tapped,

about 50 minutes. Turn the oven off. Let the cheesecake stand in the oven, with the door

    ajar, for 1 hour.

    6. Transfer the cheesecake to a wire rack to cool for 1 hour. Cover with plastic wrap

and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

    How t o loo

L aye r e d C l oIts winter and the snow is falling from the white

puffy clouds. Now is the time to wear proper

clothing, but what is proper clothes in this day and

age? It turns out that this generation has a different

idea when it comes to the winter fashion. Teenagers

today would wear anything between a single piece

of fabric, to layer upon layers of colorful fabrics. If

I were to choose between the two, it would have tobe the layering outts.

    Benets of layered clothes

There are many benets when it comes to the

layers style. One would have to be variety. As long

as the outt itself doesnt clash, one can choose a

multiple of colors and style. An example would be

wearing light blue jeans with a white long shirt.

Then over that would a be any color of a T-shirt.

Even wearing a jacket could be layered with scarfs

and jewelry. That is one out of four benets given.

    When can you wear it?

The answer is; when ever you want of course! A

good example would be like a night out on the

town with your boyfriend and you are wearing a

light orange frilly layered dress, it has a gold chain

belt around it, and you carry a brown fake diamond

bedazzled purse on your shoulder. Sounds pretty

good right? Or how about just going to the mall

with your friends and they see you in black pants,

knee high black leather boots, white T-shirt with a

written front that says I know Im hot, and a dark

purple shirt underneath it. Also youre wearin

jacket with fur cuffs and hood. They all think th

youre wearing is Gods design. This is an a

style that shouldve started long ago.

How long has this trend been with u

thout me l t ing the snow

    h i n g : Why we wear it?

ve, six years ago. That may seem pretty long but

when you think about it, it wasnt that long at all. Back

in the nineteen twenties and through out until the early

nineties, women apparel was wearing a simple dress.

    And until the late nineteen forties, a little after WWII;

women were beginning the trend of wearing pants.

This began a revolution in the fashion industry. Layers

started appearing in the nineteen eighties t

faded too soon, and now theyre back ag

Now here in the twenty-rst century, both mand women are now wearing the same artic

of clothing, and layering them is becoming

now too. Even the plaid pattern is starting

    become a trend.

How good is i t , comfort wis

Last thing I would like to point out is that

only is this fashionable, but comfortable

When wearing a shirt over a shirt, and t

the possibility of another shirt, then the

the jacket; youre actually keeping your

warm. This is good especially when it com

to the winter season because of how c

it turns out later in the year. Of course

still need to wear a proper coat and m

but still wear a good amount of clothes w

keep you nice and toasty. Its also easy

shed layers as the temperature chang

So I believe that wearing layers of clothe

better than just a shirt, pants, socks, and sho

I wonder if it still will be big twenty years fr

now, because the trends are either here toda

    gone tomorrow.

    A

    Historyof

    SantaClaus

    Santa Claus is

    someone we all

    know and love, but

how did he become this big

    over the last thousands years?

Heres just a brief history of

him just to give you an idea.

    It all started out in

    Greece. A very kind and

    generous man named Saint

    Nicholas lived there once in

    fourth century B.C. He would

    give out food, clothing and

    small necessities to those who

need them. He even gave out

dowries to two poor girls so the

would not have to become prostitutes. He was devoted

to his Christians beliefs and died peacefully of naturalcauses.

In Germany however, they believed in an

entirely different story. Theyre folklore says that a

mystical man named Odin would y the dark winter

nights upon his magical eight-legged horse named

Sleipnir. On Christmas eve, all the children would leave

their boots out by the replace and they would be lled

with hay, carrots, or sugar cubes for Sleipnir. In return

for their kindness,Odinwould give the kids little toys or

    candies to enjoy.

Sweden and Norway were the ones who started

the imaging of what Santa looked like. They had pictures

of him and said that he loo

like a short little elf, who

    very old yet very happy

He would wear a red hat

    white furry trim around it

on the tip of the hat. T

    was also a point where

    thought he was half man

    goat, representing the Yule

    season, but that was be

    It was in America how

    that was where the w

got a real clear view of

    image. In 1821 public wr

    named him Santa Claus ins

of the term Sinterklass, he lost all of his dutch app

from his fairy tale books, and gained a new look. that would change him to an icon of the Christ

season forever. In 1920 the Coca-Cola industry u

They put his picture on the can, showing him drin

another coke, he was also seen on the streets of Ame

ringing a bell with a sign next to him saying help

to get where he is now. Maybe he exists and mayb

doesnt, all I know is that I cant wait for the pres
