Embedded Systems is the evolution or further

development of computing system.

An embedded system is a combination of

computer circuitry and software that is builtinto a product for purposes such as control,

monitoring and communication without human

intervention.

One of the first recognizably modern embeddedsystems was the Apollo Guidance Computer,developed by Charles Stark Draper at the MIT

Instrumentation Laboratory.

Special microprocessors are used in embeddedsystems to reduce cost for mass production. Thesemicroprocessors have simplified architecture, lowperformance and low cost comparing to general-purpose processors.

A regulated power supply is the power supply

with rectification, filtering and regulation being

done on the AC mains to get a regulated power

supply for microcontroller and for the otherdevices being interfaced in it.

A power supply can be broken down in to seriesof blocks, each block performs a particular

function.

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel

display, electronic visual display, or video

display that uses the light modulating

properties of liquid crystals (LCs). LCs do not

emit light directly.

They are used in a wide range of applications,

including computer monitors, television,

instrument panels, aircraft cockpit displays,

signage, etc. They are common in consumer

devices such as video players, gaming devices,

clocks, watches, calculators, and telephones.LCDs have replaced cathode ray tube (CRT)

displays in most applications. They are

available in a wider range of screen sizes than

CRT and plasma displays, and since they do

not use phosphors, they cannot suffer image

burn-in. LCDs are, however, susceptible to

image persistence. [1]

Relays are special switches

designed to allow a small

circuit to control a largercircuit. These devices use a

solenoid to control a heavy-

duty switch. The wiring for the

solenoid may require only 0.5amps to activate, while the

switch it controls carries 10 to

30 amps.

Connect the control device

to the two solenoid pins of

the relay. Supplying a small

12-volt voltage to these twopins will turn the relay

switch on or off.

Locate the other threepins. These pins are a SPDT

switch.

to be dumped into the microcontroller for
