The goal of the project is to define a new architecture to enable cooperative sensing inintelligent transportation systems and to develop a reference end-to-end implementation.
The project results will enable advanced traffic and travel management strategies, based onreliable and real-time input data. The effectiveness of such new strategies, together with theproposed system, will be assessed in two field trials.
1. Design of a new architecture for M2M communication and local intelligenceimplementation in ITS
2. Development of a reference implementation of the data distribution layer3. Development of a new class of road sensors with pervasive communication capabilities4. Adaptation of V2X and backhauling communication technologies to the proposed
architecture5. Definition of novel traffic and travel management strategies leveraging the proposed
solution (FPZ-DEUSTO)6. Validation of the proposed solutions via field trials

Sub-task T5.1.1 Information analysis and integration.
Using the data from WSN, RSUs and TMC, the traffic models and travel strategies will be defined. These data will be used to define the traffic models in order to distinguish anomalous situations from normal situations.
Sub-task T5.1.2 Design and identification of rules and traffic patterns.
Starting from the data provided by the WSN and RSUs and combining them with the defined traffic models, the values and thresholds that represent an anomalous situation will be defined.
Tasks: T5.1 Traffic models and travel management strategies definition (FPZ)
Nov 30, 2012 - Zagreb ICSI-FPZ Kick-Off Meeting 8
Sub-task T5.1.3 Formal representation of the knowledge.
Different semantic models will be analysed to determine the best one to represent the knowledge generated in Task 1. This semantic model will be used to feed the CLU with the information generated in this task.
Sub-task T5.1.4. Novel ramp metering algorithms.
Study and design of new ramp metering algorithms for urban highways based on short-term predictions of traffic flows and neuro-fuzzy technologies. There is a possibility to expand our research on the Dynamic Variable Speed Limit Strategies for freeways flow. The developed algorithms will be tested on computer simulation models and the results will be compared with state-of-the-art algorithms in the literature.
