We work in partnership with families to provide children with learning opportunities that will provide a solid foundation for their future.Research indicates that success in learning is directly proportional to regular attendance and participation in education programs. The Barrington Public School Attendance Policy places priority on the early identification of non-attendance and irregular attendance, and outlines practices to support regular attendance of students in our school community. Please refer to the Attendance Procedures on the school’s website for full details and procedures.

PSSA TennisOn Friday 3 March, Barrington School’s tennis team played the first round of the PSSA competition against Gloucester Public School at the Gloucester courts. The team was Toreen Denyer, Natalie Rayner, Zane Commons and Dean Germon. In the singles Natalie won 6-0 and Toreen and Natalie combined in the doubles to win 6-4. Unfortunately Gloucester was too strong and won the overall points. All the students must be commended on their effort and fair play and a big thank you to our cheer squad of parents. Their coach, Toni Laurie was very impressed saying they all had improved so much. Gloucester now advances to play Forster. Mrs Faull

Hockey Gala DayOn Wednesday 8 March, 21 students from Years 4/5/6 travelled to Gloucester’s hockey fields at Cook Park to participate in a hockey gala day. It was a round robin event and the 3 Barrington teams of 7 played against teams from Gloucester PS and Stratford/Stroud Road PS. The students had a wonderful day and no doubt learnt more about the game of hockey. Barrington will be choosing a PSSA Hockey team in the next few weeks to play Gloucester in the 1st round.A big thank you to all the parents/grandparents support in driving and cheering for the teams. Mrs Faull

HELP NEEDED…YEAR 6 Easter FundraiserOn the last day of Term 1, Friday 7 April, Year 6 is holding a fun Easter day for the whole school. They are asking for your help in the way of small packets of Easter eggs for the Easter egg hunt. Please leave your donations at the front office in the box.

They are also having an Easter hat parade after lunch. The children will be given a party hat in the middle session and will have to decorate their hat using any materials they want. There are scrap boxes of paper, ribbons etc. in the school but we would ask you to send in some individual items with your child on the day so they can decorate their hat. Some ideas might be cotton balls, fluffy chicks, Easter eggs, ribbon, and pipe cleaners or cut out pictures relating to Easter. This day is an out of uniform day so we encourage your child to dress up in Easter themed clothes for the occasion. A gold coin donation will be collected on the day as part of the Year 6 fundraiser.Thank you for your help.

School Cross CountryThis year we are holding our cross country at school on Friday 31 March at 9.20am. We are organising a track down Skye Rd and around the school and surrounds. The 8, 9, 10 year olds will run 2km and the 11, 12, 13 year olds will run 3 km. The under 8 year olds will run a mini cross country in the school grounds. All parents are welcome to watch and help with marshalling.

PSSA SportMr Keen and Mrs Faull are in the process of organising teams for hockey and netball. These teams will face the first round of the PSSA Knockouts by the end of term.

Dance Term 2Next term we are fortunate enough to get Miss Sam back for dance. Dance is a compulsory part of the school curriculum so I would like to see all students giving their all again as they did last year.Dance will begin in week 1 and continue all of term 2. The cost of the dance is $30. Further information will be sent home shortly. Mr Dave Keen

Junior Hockey Competition will be starting up again, Wednesday 22 March, between 3:30 - 5.00pm, Cook Park.
