SAP Cloud Platform Smart Data Integration (SDI) : • SAPs Hana based Local Integration toolset (On Prem or Cloud)

SCP Integration for Data Services (CPI-DS): • Formerly called Hana Cloud Platform Data Services (HCP-DS) and before that called Hana Cloud Integration DS (HCI-

DS)• Like Business Objects for Data Services, but think of it as lightweight with the BODS server in the cloud and the agent

SAP HANA Cloud Integration interacts with your local SAP landscape via the SAP Data Services Agent and secure HTTPS and RFC connections. Even when your data flows from the cloud to your on-premise landscape, there is no need to open the firewall to inbound traffic. The SAP Data Services Agent always initiates the request.

Scalability & Reliability - Using multiple Agents

Depending on your requirements, you can use one or multiple agents to connect to CPI-DS.

You might choose to use multiple agents for any of the following reasons:• Large data load volumes - divide the load between multiple agents• Fail-over support - if one agent host system is down or unreachable, your tasks will still run• Separate agents for test and production tasks

When you use multiple agents, your datastores, projects, and other objects are not duplicated within SAP Cloud Platform for Integration Services. Instead, you select the agent or agent group to use at run-time when you execute or schedule a task.

You can switch between agents freely as long as each agent is able to connect to the on-premise sources required in your task. For agents that use flat-file sources, each agent needs access to its own copy of the files, or you can use a network share to make them accessible to all agents.

IBP Data Integration Roadmap

SAP Cloud Platform Integration for Data Services remains the main integration tool for 2017

Throughout 2017 SAP will incrementally leverage SDI for response for near real-time, bi-directional data integration• A Combination of CPI-DS and SDI will be required for a full IBP Solution

Starting 2018 at the earliest• Start working on a single, combined data integration solution for the main IBP Use Cases• SDI and CPI-DS technologies will merge together into one solution• If needed, migration tools will be available for a smooth migration to the combined solution
