Declaration (IID)

The Integrated Import Declaration (IID) is a part of the Canada Border Services Agency ‘s (CBSA) “Single Window Initiative” that aims to improve the efficiency of the border process.

IID will simplify reporting and also streamline release decisions by providing the CBSA data to share with 9 Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) and 38 government programs. The IID serves as both post- and pre-arrival service option and can be sent to CBSA for processing up to 90 days prior to the arrival of the goods.

After submitting the new and robust Integrated Import Declaration through the GeTS IID platform, CBSA will transmit that information to the appropriate PGA when applicable.

PGAs assess the information provided and submit a release decision to CBSA as required. Only when this PGA has deemed the goods eligible for import, will they be released in Canada.

1. Identify the regulating PGA for the commodity as reported in the IID

2. Validate the IID data fields against the mandatory, conditional or optional data of that regulating PGA

3. Trigger the sharing of data with the applicable PGA

4. A release decision is made and shared with the carrier
