German Language
Tradition, multiculturalism and differentcultural expressions, together with theGerman speaking population offer greatopportunities for tourism, in general, andcultural tourism in particular.
– 4 out of 10 inhabitants of the Valea Hartibaciuluimicro region speak German fluently
In many traditional German settlements themigration of the traditional communities led tosignificant losses of important immaterial values. The ¨depopulation phenomena¨ of the GermanTransylvanian village, especially after 1989, wascaused mainly by the emigration to Germany.
In this respect, the loss of the spoken ¨sources¨has dramatic consequences when it comes to thepreservation and reconstruction of the area´sethnic and cultural identity.
The area has a strong tradition:
• Traditional costumes
• Musical instruments
• Tools for fruits processing and alcoholicbeverages production
• Bakeries, producing bread and othertraditional products. Other success productsof the area consist of milk products.
