Reps and sets are a way to track progress with your training. This is a general guide. Programs will vary depending on your specific needs, goals, off-season or in-season, experience, etc.

AS A GENERAL GUIDELINE TO START:

» 8-10 repetitions for 2-3 sets when training for strength (moderate to heavy resistance with focus on proper form and control)» 4-6 repetitions for 3-5 sets when training for power (moderate resistance with increase in speed of movement)

PROPER FORM

When trying movements for the first time, use less resistance with the goal of being able to perform all movements without breaking form. Do not push through or ignore aches and pains as you perform any movement.

PROGRESSIVE RESISTANCE

Progressive resistance is a concept that states you should be able to lift more weight or do more repetitions each time you perform an exercise. As you progress through any training phase, increase the resistance when your prescribed repetitions decrease. When the prescribed repetitions increase, decrease the resistance accordingly. You may also need to adjust your repetitions, sets, and resistance if you are not seeing improvements in your goals.

hOw TO INSTALL ThE PULLUP REVOLUTION

To install the Pullup Revolution, snap the black buckle over the center

of your fixed pull-up bar, shown in figure 1. Make sure you can reach and grip your pull-up bar with one foot on the ground.

Using the Pullup Revolution on bars that are out of standing reach is dangerous and should never be attempted. If your pullup bar is out of standing reach, lower it to a safe height or use a sturdy platform that cannot slip or tip over to compensate.

Always check with the manufacturer of your pull-up bar to ensure using the Pullup Revolution will not cause the bar to fail or become dislodged before using the system.

hOw TO AdjUST ThE PULLUP REVOLUTION Once the Pullup Revolution is secured to your pullup bar, adjust the foot stirrup height by pressing the steel buckle and pulling the high-density support strap, shown in figure 2. Always adjust the stirrup so that it is as close to touching the floor as possible before using it. As you raise the height of the foot stirrup, the assistance level increases. As you lower the height of the foot stirrup, the assistance decreases. You can also reduce resistance by safely removing the center cable, stretching it from one end and pulling it up through the cable pocket channel. NEVER use only one cable.

When the foot stirrup is set to the maximum height of 3 feet, the Pullup Revolution provides about 33 lbs of assistance per cable. If you’re using all three cables this is equivalent to just over 100 lbs.

To avoid overstretching the cables, NEVER adjust the foot stirrup higher than 3 feet from the ground. Doing so will cause premature cable wear and could cause the cables to fail. It is always a good idea to place a protective pad on the floor, under your pullup bar to prevent or minimize chance of injury.

BASIC USAGE OF ThE PULLUP REVOLUTION

The Pullup Revolution is a training tool designed to allow users to practice and train up to unassisted bar exercises from basic pull-ups to advanced bar moves made popular in the streets of New York City. By offsetting some of the weight your muscles must support, the Pullup Revolution allows you to spend more time on your pull-up bar before your muscles fatigue. This translates into longer, more effective workouts that will get you into great shape.

BALANCING yOUR wORKOUTS TO COmBAT mUSCLE ImBALANCE

It is important to work and develop your muscles evenly. Muscle imbalances in the body can cause minor or severe pain, as well as promote unnatural movement and posture habits that can lead to injury. Muscle imbalances also create inefficiency in the body that actually reduces functional strength.

There are two basic muscle movements you’ll use to balance your body; pulling movements and pushing movements. Pulling exercises are always paired with pushing exercises. This simple rule will help you develop more balanced results faster!

Balance Tip:When an exercise isolates just the right or left side of your body, always work both sides evenly by doing the same number of reps on each side. Do this by working your weaker side first and matching, not exceeding, the number of reps you do on your stronger side.
