• 中微子是构成物质世界的最基本单元。已发现的中微子振荡有两种。• 目的:寻找中微子的第三种振荡,用 13 表示。• 意义: 13 的大小决定了未来中微子物理研究的发展方向。• 用大亚湾反应堆测量 13 是我国粒子物理发展的一个重大机遇:
功率高(世界第二)、周围山体屏蔽宇宙线本底、造价较低• 难点:精度较过去提高一个量级。• 我们的突破:独特设计 + 环境优势 达到精度要求。

– 通过远近点之间的相对测量提高精度。– 同一点的多模块中微子测量以降低系统误差并相互校验。– 多重宇宙线反符合探测器提高效率,降低系统误差。

• From the press release:• The copious data revealed for the first time the strong
signal of the effect that the scientists were searching for, a so‑called “mixing angle” named theta one-three (written θ13), which the researchers measured with unmatched precision. The Daya Bay collaboration’s first results indicate that theta one-three, expressed as sin2 2 θ13, is equal to 0.092 plus or minus 0.017.

YBJ Cosmic Ray Observatory
• YBJ Cosmic Ray Observatory is located in the Yangbajing (YBJ) valley (90°26'E, 30°13'N) of Tibetan Highlands, near the cross-point of Qinghai – Tibet, 90 km from the city of Lhasa, making it the best site as a high altitude observatory in the world.

Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility
• As part of the Beijing Electron Positron Collider ( BEPC ) project, Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF) was constructed and opened to users in 1991. After the BEPC upgrading, BSRF runs in 2.5GeV full-energy injection and 250mA beam current in dedicated mode.
• There are 3 experimental halls ( 12# , 13# , 15# ) , 5 insertion devices , 14 beamlines and 14 experimental stations.
