Step 1 Rear Panel

Before disassemblingyour iPhone, be sure itis powered off.Remove the two 3.6 mmPentalobe screws next to thedock connector.During reassembly, werecommend youreplace the 5-point screwswith equivalent Phillipsscrews. Our Liberation Kitprovides the tools and screwsneeded to replace thePentalobe screws withPhillips screws.The 5-Point Screwdrivershould only be usedonce, as it has the potential tostrip the screws.

Step 2

Push the rear panel toward the top edge of the iPhone.The panel will move about 2 mm.

Step 3

Pull the rear panel away fromthe back of the iPhone, beingcareful not to damage theplastic clips attached to therear panel.Remove the rear panel fromthe iPhone.

Step 4 Battery

Remove the following screws securing the battery connector to the logicboard:

One 1.7 mm Phillips screwOne 1.5 mm Phillips screw

Use a plastic opening tool to gently detach the battery connector from thedevice.

Step 5

Use a plastic opening tool to pull the pressure contact from underneath thebattery connector.When reinstalling the pressure contact, be sure to clean it with adegreaser such as windex or isopropyl alcohol. The oils on yourfingers have the potential to create wireless interference.Take notice of the small black ground clip on the upper screw of thebattery connector.

Step 6

Insert the edge of a plastic opening tool between the battery and the outercase near the bottom left corner of the iPhone.Run the plastic opening tool along the right edge of the battery and pry upat several points to completely separate it from the adhesive securing it tothe outer case.

Step 7

Use the exposed clear plastic pull tab to peel the battery off the adhesivesecuring it to the iPhone.Remove the battery.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Step 8 Volume Buttons

Remove the three 1.5 mmPhillips screws securing thevolume button bracket to theouter case.

Step 9

Pull the volume bracketslightly away from the outercase.Use a pair of tweezers toremove the volume buttonsfrom the iPhone.
