Create Domino server ID
•Create a server id file for the DB2 server UDF extension(includes 2 DB2 user defined functions), you may remove the Domino server document after creating and saving the id file.
•(no AIX, only windows in beta 2)
•Only required when you need DB2 access to Domino data, facilitates Domino's user security when accessing Domino data from a DB2 environment.
•You may not assign a password to the ID file (==> you will not be able to save it in the Domino directory/public NAB).

Install "DB2 ESE V8.1 Patch for Domino 7.0 Beta 2" (apply DB2 fix for Domino 7 beta 2)
•Otherwise the update executes without further screen output.

You might need to restart your Operating System in order to have the DB2 paths available. If the PATH does not contain the directory with DB2 executables you will get the following error :
•Make sure you have stopped all DB2 processes and services, otherwise you will get the following error :

Installation Checkpoint
•In order to check that the installation that we have conducted so far is successful do the following :•start the DB2 using the following command •net start "DB2 - DB2"•now start the Domino server and the Domino administrator.•Start the "DB2 Enablement tool" from the Domino Administrator on the configuration tab, tools palette, select Miscellaneous tool and click "Enable Server for DB2 ..."•You should get the following dialog box when everything went fine.•cancel out of the dialog box, and stop the Administrator, the Domino server and DB2 (net stop "DB2 - DB2") to continue with the installation.

Install DB2 Access for Lotus Domino (UDF)•Install the "UDF" server on the DB2 server if you want to be able to use Domino data from the DB2 environment, or if you want to use SQL query Views on Domino data.•SQL Query Views access Domino through DB2, therefore you need UDF if you want to Query DB2 data even if it the data is managed by Domino.•Install UDF server by launching the "IBM DB2 Access for Lotus Domino" setup.
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
Change the installation directory and browse for the <your base DB2 install path>\SQLLIB\FUNCTION
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
Enter the location of the DB2 install and of the server ID you created specifically for UDF.
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
IBM Software Group | Lotus softwareMake sure that the UDF path (<your base DB2 install path>\SQLLIB\FUNCTION )is added to the Windows System path.
When you changed the default UDF path as indicated above, this should already have been added by the original DB2 installation.Just double check :

You should specify the (DB2 Access Server) hierarchical Server name, DB2UDFID/Lotus in our case.
I incorrectly specified the Server name to be able to show the impact and how to correct this.

•On the status bar you should see that DB2 is enabled.
IBM Software Group | Lotus software•Stop the Domino Administrator.•Designate "DB2DOM" group as a "system control" group in DB2, by launching the DB2 command line processor from the Windows Start Menu •Start => Programs => IBM DB2 => Command Line Tools => Command Line Processor•And type the following command, a successful completion should be displayed after completion.•stop the the DB2 server from the Command Line Processor by typing "db2stop“
•Once the server has stopped successfully, restart it by typing "db2start"•When the server is started leave the Command Line Processor by typing "Quit".•Close the window by typing "Exit"
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
Start Domino
•When DB2 is correctly configured you get following message. See the release notes for trouble shooting.•Need to explain Admin4 replication, Admin Process execution, modification of the directory entry and replication.
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
•Bellow we get an error when the UDF (DB2 Access Server for Domino is started). "--CLI error -----------------------"•This is most probably caused because we did not fill out the hierarchical name of the Domino Server ID when we installed the UDF server (DB2 Access Server for Domino)•To correct the situation follow the next instructions.
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
•Check the UDF Connection document. From the Domino Administration, click configuration tab.•From the tools panel, click Miscellaneous - Edit UDF Connection. If it is grayed out, refresh the Domino administrator server bookmarks.•To refresh the server bookmarks, from the Domino Administration, choose Administration - Refresh Server List - Current Domain.
•In our case the connection was not filled out because we incorrectly specified an incomplete DB2 Access Server ID name.•To correct , cancel out of the UDF Connection. Open the DB2 tab in the server configuration document.•Modify the DB2 Access server name into the hierarchical name : “DB2UDFID/Lotus”. Save the document and close the administrator.•In the Domino Server console execute the following command "set udf"•Some CLI commands get executed. You may still receive error messages, and it can take a while to complete (2 minutes).•when it is finished restart the Domino Server. You should no longer receive the "-- CLI error --------" message.•Check the correct DB2 settings from the Domino console by typing "show config db*"

Post Installation optimizationYou should adopt the DB2 command script that is stored in the Domino root directory, c:\Lotus\Domino.Make a backup copy of the script nsfdb2cfg16k.bat before making your changes (e.g. : db2nsfconfig.bat ).The script optimizes the DB2 environment for Domino. However the script is based on a machine with 1GB internal memory. For a smaller demo system running in a VMWare with 512MB I adopted the DB2 buffer pool sizes for the 2 tablespaces DOMINO and DOMINO_TMP.: NOTE: when using 16K pages for DOMINO and DOMINO_TMP buffer pools and associated tablespaces,: double the numbers (i.e. use 4096/2048 for 64MB/32MB, or 8192/4096 for 128MB/64MB): db2 ALTER BUFFERPOOL DOMINO SIZE 12288: 12K * 16K =192MB
db2 ALTER BUFFERPOOL DOMINO SIZE 4096: DOMINO bufferpool uses 16KB pages; : 4K * 16K =64MB
: db2 ALTER Bufferpool DOMINO_TMP SIZE 4096: 4K * 16K =64MBdb2 ALTER Bufferpool DOMINO_TMP SIZE 2048: DOMINO_TMP bufferpool uses 16KB pages; : 2K * 16K =32MB
IBM Software Group | Lotus software
Since I had limited disk space I also modified the log file sizes. The original documentation is confusing since it makes recommendations for this setting, but does not indicate that when running this DB2 command script the Log File Sizes will be overwritten.: For developer / deployment convenience we use circular logging; : customers will actually use archive logging.:db2 update db cfg for %db2db% using LOGFILSIZ 131077: 131077 * 4K =512MB with original settingdb2 update db cfg for %db2db% using LOGFILSIZ 2000: 2000 * 4K =8MBdb2 update db cfg for %db2db% using LOGPRIMARY 3: 3 * 512MB =1,5GB ??? with original setting: 3 * 8MB =24MB ???db2 update db cfg for %db2db% using LOGSECOND 0
Feel free to further optimize this DB2 Command script for your own environment. If you only have the "DB2 - DB2" service running you might need to start the DB2 Admministrative server "DB2DAS - DB2DAS00"(use net start "DB2DAS - DB2DAS00" from the Windows Operating System command prompt).Start the DB2 Command Window (not the DB2 Command Line Processor as specified in the documentation).Change your path to the location of the script (c:\Lotus\Domino)start your script add the database name of the database you created when you enabled Domino for DB2 :

Minimize Domino cache use•To minimize further memory usage, set the Domino NSF_BUFFER_POOL_SIZE_MB=20 (only for demonstration purposes) in Notes.ini of your Domino server.•(remove eventual conflicting NSF_BUFFER_POOL_SIZE setting, same as above but not expressed in MB )•Check the current usage on the server from the statistics in order to assign it a reasonable value.•Stop the Domino server, and DB2. Then restart both for all of the changes to take effect.

Create your first NSFDB2
Once all is configured you can now create new NSFDB2 replicas using the Domino Administrator.Since the default storage format is specified as NSF, the Administration client is the only way to create a Notes database that gets stored in DB2 (NSFDB2). You do this by replicating a regular NSF from another server.During the replication, which uses the admin task, several trials went unsuccessful (to be investigated further)Only after
I removed the view indexes from the source database (using compact from the Administration client)And on the dialog box for the creation of a new replica I had removed the filename of the target database,
did I finally succeed in creating my first NSFDB2 (The database is created with the replica ID as filename, which you can modify into the regular filename)

Newly created replica
•Newly created NSFDB2 with replica ID as filename•Databasesize of NSFDB2 is 0, and “Space used” reports as “@error”•the newly enabled database tool “DB2 Move Container”where the directory of the database “\DB2DATA\” is displayed

SQL Query View
Allow Notes apps to create a Notes view based on a SQL query
Fields selected in the query can be used in a view formula
Query Views are dynamic, the query runs in response to a view open or view rebuild
Query Views are *not* persisted - they are recalculatedHave user defined and server policy defined "governors" to prevent run-away queries
The queries can be parameterized and personalized - each person opening it gets his own. For example to select mail from a specific sender.
Queries can *join* data from other db2 based nsf's or other relational data (non notes data).
