C.Woody, HBD Group Meeting, 4/29/08 New shades were also not of the right size and shape Shades slid along the fishing line with only small pieces of tape Cut the new shades to the right size and shape by trial and error Added tape along the entire length of fishing line (seems very secure against sliding) Installed both shades (upper and lower), and with some care in adjustment, got them fairly flat. However, they are not completely flat and may obstruct some part of the veto region when the detector is turned upright. Shades

Installation of Shades and Scintillation Cube C.Woody, M.Durham, J.Kamin B.Azmoun, A.Caccavano HBD Meeting April 29, 2007 C.Woody, HBD Group Meeting, 4/29/08 Problems with installing cube (tested with HBD outside glove box) Gas fitting with existing RTD had fouled threads Worried that if we encountered the same problem with the one inside the glove box, we could not fix it Access to changing gas the fitting inside the glove box was very difficult and risky Saw too much noise on preamp with twisted pair section of feedthrough cable (no problem with same length of pure coax) Will design a new coax feedthrough Could not really see the pad we wanted to mount the cube over Didnt want to further delay closing up the detector Decided not to install the cube in this HBD, but will do so in the next one where we can do all of the necessary preparation work and testing outside the glove box Cube C.Woody, HBD Group Meeting, 4/29/08 New shades were also not of the right size and shape Shades slid along the fishing line with only small pieces of tape Cut the new shades to the right size and shape by trial and error Added tape along the entire length of fishing line (seems very secure against sliding) Installed both shades (upper and lower), and with some care in adjustment, got them fairly flat. However, they are not completely flat and may obstruct some part of the veto region when the detector is turned upright.
