Electric connectionsPrior to the electrical installation, you have to make sure that therated mains voltage is 230 V, 50/60 Hz and is single-phase. Thedelivered motors have insulation of type B and protection classIP20.SCHAKO recommends using exclusively copper cables, sincethe device connections have not been designed for accommo-dating other types of cables. If they are used nevertheless, gal-vanic corrosion or generation of heat could take place at theconnection point, thus resulting in damage to the unit. The elec-tric connections must be made by qualified electricians only, ob-serving the current standards and regulations as well as the low-voltage regulations.NBS 100

Temperature controlsThe temperature controls are mounted in accordance with theselected model. This is why the instructions enclosed with eachmodel must be followed. However, in order to achieve optimummeasurement by the sensors, the following basic informationshould be observed:ValvesValves ordered as accessories are supplied loose. Please ob-serve the attached mounting instructions of the manufacturerregarding on-site insulation of valves and connections.
ActuatorsThe installation of the actuators depends on the selected model. Please follow the instructions enclosed with each model.
Condensate pumpThe installation of the actuators depends on the selected model. Please follow the instructions enclosed with each model. Upon customer request, the condensate pump can be installedex works.
ChecksPrior to commissioning, the following items must be checked orguaranteed:
During commissioning itself, the following items must be guar-anteed:
- Do not mount the temperature control close to or above aheat source (direct sunlight, lamps, television sets, radia-tors, etc.), in places with draught air or directly oppositeto an air diffuser grille.
- Temperature controls must be mounted at least 1.5 me-tres above the floor.
- Mounting temperature controls on walls toward the out-doors should be avoided.
Before drilling, make sure that no power, water orgas lines are present where the temperature con-trols are to be mounted.
- The air flow through the filters is not impaired by foreignmaterial (paper, packaging residues, etc.).
- The current consumption of the device is not higher thanthe power of the electric circuit it is connected to.
- The electrical properties of the device correspond to thoseof the electrical connection circuit.
- Electrical connections were made correctly.- Hydraulic connections were tightened properly and exhib-
it no leaks. - The drain pipe of the condensate pan is not clogged.- Connecting and fastening elements have been sufficiently
tightened.- There is a sufficient gradient for the condensate pan to be
emptied correctly. (Check whether it is completely emp-tied by partly filling it.)
- The connecting and fastening elements have been suffi-ciently tightened.
- The motorised fan does not exhibit any vibrations or exces-sive noise.
- The condensate pan is emptied correctly.- In heating mode, the temperature of the discharged sup-
ply air is not above 40°C.
Faulty mounting of the sub-assemblies and of the accessories of the unit can result in a substantialpower loss of the unit.If the main water drain is above the level of the NBSdrain, such a pump does not have to be mounted.
After carrying out the items described above, thecorrect installation of the unit must be checked.

MaintenanceFor reasons of safety, the power supply and hydraulic circuitmust be disconnected prior to any maintenance activity. If the unit was operated in heating mode, you have to wait untilthe register has cooled down.Disassembling the unitsNBS 100 If the distance between the unit and the ceiling is sufficient foraccess to the unit, maintenance is carried out as follows, with-out disassembling the unit:
If the distance between the ceiling and the topside of the unit isso small that the top cover cannot be taken off, the entire NBSmust be taken down. In this case, follow the above instructions.
NBS 150To perform maintenance activities on the registers and filters, the aluminium profiles and lateral unit covers must be taken off.If the unit has a suction module or is connected to an air duct, the filter (two-part with sizes 2 and 3) is removed by moving itlaterally. If the unit is not equipped with an additional module(suction box, mixing unit, etc.), the filter is unscrewed and re-moved.To gain access to the motorised fan, the same steps as with theregisters and filters must be followed. If this turns out to be eas-ier for the maintenance personnel, access to the motorised fanis also possible from the underside of the unit.
Motorised fanThe motorised fan does not require any special maintenance, asit is equipped with self-lubricating bearings. However, theblades and the rotor of the motor must be checked at regular in-tervals as to whether they are free of dirt. If required, they arecleaned with compressed air.
- Remove the connection screws of the top and bottomcovers of the entire unit.
- Take out the module due for maintenance.- After completing maintenance, reconnect the module to
the main unit. Attach the covers.
When performing maintenance activities, it is rec-ommended wearing personal protective equip-ment, in order to avoid cuts and other injuriesproduced by sharp and pointed parts. For maintenance, service, retrofitting, etc., inspec-tion openings in sufficient number and size mustbe provided on site.
If the operating conditions of the fan (speed, pres-sure, temperature, etc.) change, call the local sales office of SCHAKO to find outwhether the unit can be operated under such con-ditions.

Checkwhether the pan is completely emptied by partly filling it.NBS 100To clean the condensate pan, remove the plate attached to thebottom side of the motorised fan unit.
NBS 150To clean the condensate pan, remove the lateral plate attachedto the opposite side of the register hydraulic connections.
- Check the condition of the register at least each time thefilter is changed.
- Should the register be soiled, clean it by spraying it withwater or with compressed air or by suction.
- If there are larger differences in distance between the ribs, they must be "combed".
- Ventilate the hydraulic circuits of the register. In doing so,watch out for possible leaks of the hydraulic system.
CAUTIONIt is not the manufacturer's strategy to give specialrecommendations for the water treatment (contacta company specialised in water treatment). However, this is a critical problem, and care mustbe taken in particular that the treatment, if re-quired, is effective. The use of untreated or unsuitable water may re-sult in excessive soiling of the register pipes (earthand mud deposits, corrosion, etc.), which mayhave a considerable effect on the heating capacityof the unit and cause material damage that cannotbe undone. When using untreated water or water that has beentreated improperly, the manufacturer or his repre-sentative cannot be held liable.
When decommissioning the unit or shutting itdown for a longer period in winter, the water mustbe drained from the unit, in order to avoid damageto the register due to the formation of ice. If youwant to use antifreezes, you must first determinethe freezing point.Any maintenance work and intervals depend on thevalid standards and guidelines, e.g.: VDI 6022.

FilterTo prevent a pressure drop in the device, the filters must be re-placed at regular intervals. This is why you always should havereplacement filters ready, in order to avoid longer downtimes oroperation without filters. The service life of the filter depends on its efficiency and the dirtparticles deposited there. It is recommended replacing the filterwhen the maximum pressure drop is 150 Pa. (See descriptionin UNE EN 779).Removal of the filters from the bottom side of the device: Firstturn the supporting elements (1) and then remove the filters us-ing the handles provided for this purpose in the filters.
Removal of the filters from the lateral or top side of the device:Remove the filters using the handles provided for this purposein the filters.
