1.3 Working principleOnly after the CPU performs a self-test and displays the normal information, the user can start the balancing operation. The CPU controls the running of the Spindle Shaft and the Driver Interface during the balancing operation. The imbalance signal detected by the Balance Sensor is transmitted to the CPU Interface through the A/D Converter. Comprehensively the CPU analyzes both the imbalance signal and the angle encoder signal then it will calculate the imbalance value. Once the imbalance value is calculated it will display the result on the LED Screen. Man to machine communication can be realized through the Keyboard and LED Display. In addition, the button operation can awaken the power source that has gone to ”Sleep”. (See Figure 1).

Please install the Wheel Balancer by following the Setup Wizard.

Installation

2.2 checking package Open the top cover of the package and check your packing lists to confirm that the Main Unit, accessory parts and relative materials are all included.

2.3 unbolting Unbolt the Wheel Balancer from the bottom plate of the crate, lift it and put it carefully on the ground (See Figure 5).

2.4 Install Wheel Guard (optional) Note: This is a optional part. The user can proceed to Step 6 if he/she does not purchase the Wheel Guard.

Insert the Protective Tube into the Bearing Sleeve, then mount the Tube onto the Bearing Shaft with 2 bolts and nuts.

2.5 turn on power Turn on the power. Note: Make sure the Power Socket is safely grounded.

4.1 startTurn on the main switch of the Wheel Balancer. With a tone beep, the Wheel Balancer begins theself-diagnosis (See Fig.10). After self-diagnosis, the Wheel Balancer will default to “Standard Dynamic Balance” as it’s test item.

During self-diagnosis, error codes may be displayed on the Inner Side or Outer Side Screen. The user can solve the problem by following the methods below:

4.2 Wheel MountingMounting Method 1 (General Wheels)

A 15” Steel Wheel is suitable to be positioned thru the Center Hole.Mounting steps for general Wheel: Set the Wheel onto the Spindle Shaft near the Flange (see Fig.11).

1. Spindle Shaft Flange 2. Quick-Release Nut 3. Wheel 4. Cone Select the proper Cone then tighten the wheel with the Quick-Release Nut.

Mounting Steps for Special Wheels (such as IVECO) Set the Truck Adapter (optional) on the outer side wheel to be balanced, align it to the M8 Bolt Holes. Place the Wheel onto the Balance Shaft over the Extended Flange (see Figure 11).

Select the proper Cone and tighten the wheel with the Quick-Release Nut.

4.3 Wheel MountingMounting Method 2 (Optional)

This method is desirable for the Wheel to be positioned with its central hole, especially when the Outer Side Rim cannot be centered due to damage.

Set the Cone Spring onto the Balance Guide Screw, select a proper Cone and assemble it onto the Balance Shaft in reverse (see Figure 12).

Install a proper Cap Nut (optional) onto the Quick-Release Nut. Put the wheel onto the Cone and tighten it with the Quick-Release Nut.

5.1 Inputting Wheel DataIt is important for the user to know the steps for data inputting, incorrect data inputting may directly influence the test results.

The Wheel Balancer is specially equipped with an Electronic Measuring Scale that can automatically input the wheel data. The user can operate it by pulling the Measuring Scale, the relative parameters of the Wheel Back Spacing and Wheel Diameter will be inputted automatically.

Only wheel width is inputted manually as shown below.

5.2 automatic Inputting (Distance & Diameter)In waiting status for measuring, pull out the Measuring Scale then place the Scale’s head on the inside rim which will keep in contact with the rim. (This procedure takes around 3 seconds.) For example: Wheel Diameter=13”, Wheel Width=5.5” and Wheel Distance=50mm. Set the Scale to its original place when the LED Screen displays “di 13”, “d 050”. The right LED display will be waiting for its input. Measure the wheel width with the Width Scale (see Figure13), and input the result by [↑] up and [↓] down keys.

If incorrect data is inputted by mis-operation, set the Scale to its original place and re-operate the Auto Inputting Procedures when the LED Screen displays the wheel width.

If the error code “Err 11” appears during measuring, this means the Scale is pulled more than 23” inches. The error code can be fixed by simply setting the Scale to its original place and restarting the Wheel Balancer.

If the user finds that there is a difference between the measured value and the real value, it is normally caused by the Scale not being correctly calibrated after extended use. The user can re-calibrate the Scale and then restart the Wheel Balancer.

During wheel width, diameter inputting or revising, press the [ENTER] button. The Unit-Converting Indicator on the Control Panel will flash and the LED will display the result on the outer side. Press [↑] or [↓] key to input or revise the present data by increasing/decreasing, one increment at a time.

Inputting Data

After inputting the correct wheel data, the user can press the Function Key to exit the Data Inputting Interface or press the [Start] Key to start the balance test.

5.3 Manual InputtingIf you are not used to using the Measuring Scale or if the Scale isn’t working, you can input all the wheel data manually as below.

Press the Transfer Key to alter the inputting items of di – wheel diameter, d – wheel distance, lr - wheel width and select a proper item to input the relative value (see Figure 14). Press [↑] or [↓] key to increase/decrease the present value by one. Press the [ENTER] button to alter the unit (inch or mm). After inputting the correct wheel data, press the Function Key to exit, or press the [Start] Key to begin the test.

Note: If the user does not input any wheel data, the Wheel Balancer will default to the parameters of di=14, d=70mm, and Lr=5.5. The default value must agree with the data of the wheels to be tested. Otherwise new data of the tested wheel must be inputted correctly.

6.1 operation Functions Note: Do not raise the Hood when the wheel is rotating. Turn off the Power when an abnormal situation occurs, and do not raise the Hood until the wheel stops. Press the [Start] key to start, if the Wheel Balancer is not equipped with a Guard. Remove the weight and clear the dirt before balancing. Do not touch the Wheel Balancer during the test.

The balance operation is divided into seven functions: Dynamic Balance (DYN), Static Balance (STA), Rim Balance (ALU), Motorcycle Balance (MOT), Match Balance (OPT), Assistant Hide Program (SPI) and the Calibration Program is used for the Wheel Balancer to calibrate its own precision. The Assistant Hide Program is an assistant function for the Rim Balance Program. Dynamic Balance and the Calibration Program are used for daily operations and maintenance. The user must know all the operation procedures. Other functions are optional as needed.

6.2 Dynamic BalanceDynamic Balance is used to check the imbalance point of the wheel or steel rim and hammer, clip, stick proper weight onto the inside and/or outside of the wheel to eliminate the rotating imbalance.

Turn on the power to the Wheel Balancer. The system will default to “Standard Dynamic Balance”. The user can also select the “Standard Dynamic Balance” while in another status by pressing [↑] [↓] keys and then pressing the [ENTER] key.

After inputting the wheel parameters according to the methods in the “Inputting Wheel Data” section, press the [Start] key to enter the “Dynamic Balance” test. (The system will auto start when putting down the Hood, if there is one). The wheel will rotate, then after this is complete (see Figure 15). The inner side LED displays the wheel width and the outer side LED displays the Wheel Diameter in inches while spinning. (The unit will be displayed in mm if the user has converted it into mm when inputting the wheel parameters.) The system will beep to inform of the test completion and then the dynamic braking will stop the rotating assembly. DO NOT USE THE FOOT PEDAL BRAKE FOR STOPPING ROTATION, this is for stabilizing the assembly while installing appropriate weights.

The Wheel Balancer can analyze the imbalanced point precisely and display it on it’s LED display. (e.g. outer side displays 10g imbalance and inner side displays 20g imbalance) Clip the appropriate weight onto the correct imbalance point.

Method of checking imbalanced point: Rotate the wheel by hand and make the Inner (Outer) Side Balance Indicator flash in the middle (see Figure 16).

The 12 O’clock point on the inner/outer side rim is the imbalanced point. Paste/Clip the correct weight onto the correct point of the rim. See (Figure 17) and (Figure 18). The Dynamic Balance operation is complete. The user can repeat this test to check the result.

If there is still any imbalance on the wheel after the Dynamic Balance Test, the user can proceed with the following steps to balance the wheel precisley.

If there is still a little imbalance displayed on the same side after attaching the weight, it is normally because of the user’s weight placement when defining the imbalanced point or due to the incorrect diameter inputting. To resolve, the user can adjust the position of the weight or re-input the wheel parameter and try it again.

If there is still a little imbalance displayed on both sides after attaching the weight, it is mainly because of incorrect inputting of the wheel distance and wheel width. The user can solve it by re-inputting the wheel parameters.

If there is still to much imbalance (the wheel can not be balanced) after pasting the weight; over 7.5 oz imbalance or balance operation is performed but the balanced value is not really big. The inner side or the outer side LED Screen often displays a extremely large value or CCC. When it occurs, the user can recalibrate to solve the problem.

Note: Remember to rotate the imbalanced point to the 12 O’clock position when attaching/ removing the weight. Never hit the wheel on the side.

6.3 static BalanceWheel balancing is possible even with one single weight placed in the center of the rim/wheel.

Press [↑] or [↓] keys to select “Static Balance” and then press the [Enter] key to enter (see Figure 19), the system will display “ST” on the inner side LED and “000” on the outer side LED.

Input the wheel data by following the methods mentioned in the “Inputting Wheel Data” section. When performing the static balance, the program is only concerned with the Wheel Diameter (di), while the wheel width and the distance do not influence the test result. (e.g. Wheel Diameter is 14”, and the static balance is 15g.) The Wheel Balancer starts the static balance when the Wheel Guard is put down (see Figure 20). Now, the Wheel Diameter on the Outer Side LED system displays 14” inches. The system will beep when the test ends and the wheel stops. The Wheel Balancer can precisely analyze the imbalanced value and display it on the outer side LED Screen.

Method of checking for static balance point:Rotate the wheel to make the Outer Side Balance Indicator centered and the Outer Side LED flash the value. The 12 O’clock of the rim should be in the balanced position. The rim edge or the rim inner wall is the specific point of position. The Static Balance Position is not concerned with the wheel axle position.

Clip a weight of 15g onto the rim edge (see Figure 17, Figure 18) or paste it inside the rims inner wall (see Fig.21, Fig.23, and Fig.24).

Note: There is a 2” to 3” inch difference in between the paste positions of the inner rim-side wall and rim edge, (see Figure 23). Remember to input the Wheel Diameter value measured according to the weight position.

Clip or paste the weight, making the static balance complete. The user can repeat the balance to check for the balance result. If there is still imbalance displayed on the same side after pasting the Weight, it is either because of a placement variation error when defining the imbalance point or the incorrect diameter inputting. To solve it, the user can adjust the position of the Weight or re-input the Wheel Parameter and try it again.

If there is still imbalance (the wheel can not be balanced) after pasting the Weight; over 7.5 oz imbalance or balance operation is performed but the balanced value is not really all that big. The Inner Side or the Outer Side LED often displays a extremely large value or CCC. When it occurs, the user can recalibrate to solve the problem.

6.4 rim BalanceRim balance, also called aluminum wheel balancing contains 7 modes. The paste point of modes ALU-1P and ALU-2P should be defined by the user and can also be hidden by the “Hide Balance Program” (refer to the part “Hide Balance Program” for more detailed information). While for modes of ALU-1, ALU-2, ALU-3, ALU-4 and ALU-5. The user should select a point to paste the Weight according to the rim section plane to get a more precise balance point.

Press the [↑] or [↓] Key to select “Rim Balance” and then press the [ENTER] Key. The system will enter the mode ALU-1P; Press the [ENTER] Key 2 times, the system will enter the mode ALU-1; Press the [ENTER] Key 3 times, the system will enter the mode ALU-2P; Four times, to mode ALU-2; Five times, to mode ALU-3; Six times, to mode ALU-4; Seven times, to mode ALU-5.

Mode ALU-1PThe user can select the pasting point according to the specific rim shape. The Wheel Balancer can auto input the pasting point data according to the pasting position pointed by the user. See mode ALU-1P in (Figure 25). After performing balance operating, the user can find the balance point precisely by the Measuring Scale.

1. Pasting point of weight 2. Clipping point of weight

Select the mode of ALU-1P, the system will display ALU (Aluminum Wheel) on the Inner Side LED and 1P on the Outer Side LED for 2 seconds. After 2 seconds it will beep to enter the mode of ALU-1P (see Figure 26).

Method for Wheel data inputting: Define the pasting points of the inner and outer side rim. The distance between the two points should be larger than 1.3”, otherwise, the error code “ALU Err” may appear on the next running step.

Let’s assume, the inner side rim value is 70, and outer side rim value is 120. Pull out the Measure Scale close to the defined pasting point (see the upper figure in Fig.30). Then pull the Scale close to the side surface, press the [ENTER] key to enter the outer side pasting point value (on the next page see Fig.27).

Release the Scale, the system will display as shown in Figure 28.

To get a good dynamic balance effect try to keep the distance of the two pasting points a little larger. If the distance is smaller than 1.30” the Wheel Balancer will display the error code “ALU Err”. In this case, the user should select another pasting point.

Start the test by putting down the Wheel Guard or pressing the [Start] Key, the wheel starts to rotate and the system displays as shown in Figure 29.

The system beeps to inform that the test is completing. Once completed the wheel will stop. The Inner/Outer Side LED Displays the precise imbalance value. (e.g. see Fig.30, the Inner Side LED Displays 20g imbalance value, and Outer Side 10g imbalance value.) The user can attach the Weight according to the imbalance values displayed above.

Note: Make the rim surface or the pasting point clean in order to make the weight firmly pasted. It maybe necessary to clean the rim surface with detergent.

Mode of ALU-2P The operation mode of ALU-2P is the same as that of the mode ALU-1P. The only difference is below: mode ALU-1P adopts a pasting method on the inner side, while mode ALU-2P adopts a clipping method on the inner side.

When selecting mode ALU-2P in the “Rim Balance”, the system will display ALU on the Inner Side LED, and 2P on the Outer Side LED for about 2 seconds. Once displayed, it will then beep and then beeps to enter the mode ALU-2P. See Fig.30.

Method of wheel data inputting in mode ALU-2P: It is necessary to define the pasting point on the outer side, for the inner side is to clip a Weight (the clipped rim surface is at least 33mm distance away from the outer side pasting point, otherwise, the system will display the error code “ALU Err” on the next step). Let’s assume, the inner rim parameter is 70, and outer side is 120. Pull out the measure scale close to the inner side edge of the rim, press the [ENTER] Key to enter the inner side parameter (see the upper figure in Figure 33). And then pull out the Measure Scale close to the outer side pasting surface, press the [ENTER] Key to enter the outer side parameter (see the lower figure in Figure 33). Release the Scale, then the system will display as shown in Figure 28.

To get a good dynamic balance effect try to keep the distance of the two pasting points a little larger. If the distance is smaller than 38mm, the system of the wheel balancer will display the error code “ALU Err”. In this case, the user should select another pasting point. Start the test by putting down the Protective Hood or just press the [Start] Key, the wheel will start to rotate and the system will display as shown in Figure 33. The system beeps to inform of the test completion then the wheel will stop. The Inner/Outer Side LED displays the precise imbalance value. (e.g. see Figure 34, the Inner Side LED displays 20g imbalance value and Outer Side 10g imbalance value.) The user can attach the Weight according to the imbalance values displayed above.

FIGURE 34Pasting Procedures: Rotate the wheel and keep the Inner Side Indicator centered (see upper figure 1 in Fig.38). Once centered, the Inner Side LED will start flashing. This will indicate the top balance point on the inner edge. Clip the Weight according to the displayed value on the Screen. Continue to rotate the wheel and keep the Outer Side Indicator centered (see upper figure 2 in Fig.38). While the Outer Side LED starts flashing pull out the Measure Scale. When the distance is displayed as “0” the Measure Scale arrives to the balance point. Paste it, then release the Measure Scale. Apply the same method to paste the other side of the rim. Now, the Rim Balance operation is complete. Repeat the procedure to check the balance effect.

Mode ALU-1, 2, 3, 4, and 5In mode ALU-1, 2, 3, 4, and 5; five pasting and clipping methods are designed in the program of the Wheel Balancer as shown in Fig.29, which includes the common-used balance ways.

The operation procedures are the same as that of Dynamic Balance, excluding the balance point. The user can select any one of modes (ALU-1, 2, 3, 4, or 5) as needed and continue the operation as that of Dynamic Balance. When the inner/outer side indicator is centered, the arrow-pointed position is the balance point as shown in Fig.29.

Clip or paste the Weight as needed, then the balance of mode ALU-1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be complete.

If there is still a little imbalance after checking, it is mainly caused by the difference of rim parameters stored in the program with the actual true rim parameters. The user can slightly adjust the Weight or position to gain a better balance effect.

The minimum distance of the two pasting or clipping points is concluded as below according to the wheel technical parameters:

6.5 Motorcycle Wheel BalanceThis function is available only with the additional accessories of the Motorcycle Wheel Balancer. Motorcycle wheels can be balanced by the Static Balance method, which divides the weight equally into two parts and then paste them onto the inner and outer side of the rim. But this method is not suitable if the rim width exceeds 3”. In this case, the user can apply the “Motorcycle Wheel Balance” program.

Dynamic Balance for Motorcycle Wheel Press [↑] or [↓] Key to select “Motorcycle Wheel Balance” (MOT), and press the [ENTER] Key to enter the item of the motorcycle wheel balance. See Figure 35. Set the Wheel Bracket for the motorcycle (optional) as shown in Figure 34.

Mount the wheel and bracket correctly then tighten them to avoid any movement when rotating or stopping which will ensure the balance effect. Mount an Extended Arm onto the Measure Scale, which can be used to input the wheel parameter instead of the Anti-Slip Pads by following the instructions on “Inputting Wheel Data”. Other operations are the same as that of “Dynamic Balance”. Press the [Start] Key, the system will display GO on the Inner Side LED and d15 on the Outer Side LED, which means the rim diameter of the motorcycle is 15”. See Figure 36.

Rim Balance for Motorcycle Wheel Balance the wheel rim by pasting Weight. Press [↑] or [↓] Key to select “Motorcycle Balance” item, then press the [ENTER] Key twice. The system will enter the “Rim Balance” program. See Figure 37.

Note: The system will display the error code “ALU Err” on the LED if the wheel width is smaller than 64mm, which indicates it is not necessary to balance the rim less than 3”.

6.6 Match BalanceThis program defines the best match position of steel rim and outer tire, which makes compensation for the imbalance rim and imbalance tire. This causes a decrease to the Lead Weight and reduces the noise caused by unmatched rims and tires. It is a special operation and can only be performed by well-trained technicians when the wheel meets the match balance condition (that is, the rim and tire are imbalanced to some great degree and the balance compensation is necessary).

Before operating the Match Balance, the user should first mount the wheel onto the Wheel Balancer and perform the Dynamic Balance to find the imbalance value (not necessary to paste the Counterweight Lead). And then press [↑] or [↓] Key to select “Match Balance”, press the [ENTER] Key, the system will analyze it according to the result of the Dynamic Balance and also order if it is necessary to perform “Match Balance”. “YES Opt” means to perform the “Match Balance” operation (see Fig.39), while “NO Opt” means not to perform the “Match Balance” operation (see Fig.40). The Wheel Balancer gives the result based on the imbalance wheel.

When “YES Opt” displays for 1 second the system will beep to enter the “OPT.1” stage of “Match Balance” program. The Inner Side LED displays “OP.1”. The user can press the [↑] Key to return to the Dynamic Balance Status if he/she doesn’t proceed with this program.

Inner Side

Put the steel wheel “without the tire” onto the Wheel Balancer take the air valve (hole) as the starting point and rotate the wheel till the air valve (hole) arrives at the top. Once at the top press the [ENTER] Key to memorize the starting point. Press the [Start] Key to perform the measurement of OPT.1 stage. When the wheel stops rotating, the system enters OPT.2 stage test.

Inner Side

Take off the rim from the Wheel Balancer, mount the tire onto the rim and put the rim with the tire onto the Wheel Balancer. Rotate the wheel till the air valve arrives to the top, press the [ENTER] Key to define the starting point, and press the [Start] Key to perform the measurement of the OPT.2 stage. When the wheel stops rotating the Wheel Balancer can judge if it is necessary to perform the “Match Balance” operation based upon the tire and rim. If the mounting of the rim and tire fits the compensation position, the system will display “OUT1” on the outer side LED, which means the Match Balance is necessary. Press the [↑] Key to end the Match Balance, the system will display the imbalance value. Clip the Weight according to the way of the Dynamic Balance. If the wheel needs further balance ---- Bead Balance, please proceed with the OPT.3 stage.

Inside Side

Rotate the wheel and make the Indicator centered. Mark the top point of the outer side rim with a piece of chalk, then take the wheel off the Wheel Balancer. Turn the tire of the wheel so the air valve will be pointing at the mark of the match adjustment. Put the wheel back on the Wheel Balancer, then rotate the wheel till the air valve is at its top point, press the [ENTER] Key to memorize the starting point.

Press the [Start] Key to perform the measurement of the OPT.3 stage. When the wheel stops rotating, the Wheel Balancer can judge if it is necessary to perform the Match Balance based on the tire and rim. If the adjustment of the tire and rim has completed the compensation the system will display “OUT2” on the outer side LED. This means the Match Balance is accessible. Press the [↑] Key to complete the Batch Balance. The system will display the imbalance value. The following procedures are the same as that of the Dynamic Balance. If the wheel needs further balance ---- Optimized Balance, please proceed with the OPT.4 stage.

Inner Side

When entering the OPT.4 stage, rotate the wheel and make the Balance Indicator centered. Mark the top point of the outer side rim with a piece of chalk and then take the wheel off the Wheel Balancer. Then Mount the tire onto the rim while the air valve is pointing at the mark. Put the wheel onto the Wheel Balancer again. Rotate the wheel while the air valve arrives at the top. Press the [ENTER] Key and then press the [Start] Key to rotate the wheel. When the wheel has stopped, the optimized balance is complete. After this, the system will display the Lead Weight on LED.

Note: When the error code “OPT Err” appears on the LED, it means there is a operation error during stage OPT.1-4. But it won’t influence the test result. For all the procedures in stage OPT.1-4 can be repeated. Correct repetition will solve the problem. If the user does not want any repetition, he/she may skip this procedure, enter the Match Balance program and press the [F] Key to solve the problem.

If the system displays “OUT1” or “OUT2” at the end of stage OPT.2 or OPT.3, it means the operation procedures can be simplified. Press the [↑] Key to complete the procedure and the system will display the Lead Weight needed. Press the [F] Key to enter the next stage.

6.7 calibration programThe Calibration Program contains two parts: Weight Calibration and Measure Scale Calibration. This program is designed to eliminate the errors of the Wheel Balancer when the error code “Err CAL”, “Er5 CAL” or “Err10” appears during self-test, or error of Measure Scale or Lead Weight appears and cannot be diminished.

READ BEFORE STARTING CALIBRATION!

After your Wheel Balancer is assembled follow these steps before starting the calibration procedure. The Wheel Balancer must be sitting on concrete, not a piece of plywood or the pallet that it was shipped on. It also cannot be bolted to the floor.

It should be plugged directly into the wall with no extension cord. A surge suppressor is recommended. A twenty amp dedicated circuit is required.

YOU WILL NEED A 15” OR 16” STEEL WHEEL THAT IS NOT BENT AND RUNS TRUE. A TIRE NEEDS TO BE MOUNTED ON THE WHEEL THAT IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO SHIFTED OR BROKEN BELTS. MAKE SURE ALL THE WHEEL WEIGHTS ARE REMOVED.

After mounting the tire and wheel on the Balancer use the gauge arm to touch the bead of the rim where the wheel Weights will be. Read the number on the Scale of the Arm; pay no attention to the display on the Balancer. When using the Gauge Arm it is important to use the Disk to touch the rim, not the point in the center. Read the number closest to the machine on the Scale then push the Gauge Arm back into the Balancer.

INITIAL CALIBRATION: In the center of the Display, there is a diagram of a wheel. It has three red lights around it. At this point, the light on the top should be lit “Rim Width” see (Figure 41a). Push the Transfer Button (Figure 41c) twice and the light will move to the left side (Figure 41b). Look at the Display while using the Up or Down Buttons, adjust the number to match the reading you read on the Scale.

DO NOT PUSH “ENTER”, IT WILL CHANGE THE MODE AND YOU WILL HAVE TOSTART OVER!

Push the Transfer Button (Figure 41c) again and the light will move to the top (Figure 41a). Enter the wheel width after measuring with the tool supplied with the Balancer. Push the Transfer Button (Figure 41c) one more time. Now the light will move to the right side (Figure 41d). Enter the Wheel Diameter. After the Wheel Diameter is entered, push the Function Button (Figure 41e) one time. The display windows will now show all 0’s (Figure 41f).

WAIT 5 SECONDS AND AFTER 3 BEEPS, THE CALIBRATION IS COMPLETED

(Refer to the bulletin sheets enclosed in the packet this manual came with additional instruction sheets on the calibration processes.)

Note: If the LED displays “Err 7” when entering the Weight Calibration Program, it means the Weight Calibration Program cannot be performed. The user can exit the program and repeat the Dynamic Balance then they can try the Weight Calibration again.

It is necessary to enter the correct wheel data before entering the weight calibration program. Otherwise, the operation of weight calibration program may be seriously influenced.

If the LED displays “Err CAL” during the running of weight calibration program, it means the wheel to be balanced has a little larger imbalance value, which causes the wheel balancer not to perform the weight calibration program. Change to a wheel with a little smaller imbalance value and repeat the operation.

Measure Scale Calibration ProgramMount a rim of 5.5”x13 onto the Wheel Balancer and press the [ENTER] Key holding it down for about 6 seconds. Then the system will display “CAL” on the left LED. Press the [ENTER] Key once, to enter the Measure Scale Calibration Program. The system will display as shown in Figure 42.

The Wheel Balancer beeps to enter the difference of the distance of calibration status as shown in Figure 43.

Now the Measure Scale should be in its original position. Press the Function Key to perform the distance difference of the calibration. The system will enter the Diameter Calibration status as shown inFigure 44.

Press the Transfer Key one time, to open the diameter (di). Press the [↑] or [↓] Key to change the diameter value accordingly with that of the wheel mounted on the Wheel Balancer. It is very important to input the correct diameter. Otherwise, the measurement result may be directly influenced.

Press the Function Key once to return to the diameter calibration status. Pull out the Measure Scale and make its head touch the inner rim. Press the Function Key once again to perform the diameter calibration, then release the Measure Scale. The Wheel Balancer will beep three times if the calibration succeeds. Once complete, the system returns to the program selection status. Press the [ENTER] Key to exit.

Note: When the error code “Err 20” displays on the LED it means the Measure Scale is not well positioned during calibration. Adjust the Scale position and repeat the calibration.

Assistant Hide Program This program is an assistant program for mode ALU-1P, 2P of Rim Balance, to divide the Weight attached between spokes on a luxury car into two different Weights automatically, which can be hidden behind the spokes. See Figure 45.

This function gives the spoke wheel a more attractive look, which is more desirable for luxury cars.

Select one of the modes “ALU-1P” or “ALU-2P”, then press the [↑] or [↓] Key to select “Assistant Hide Balance” program, and press [ENTER] to enter the hide balance program item. The system displays “Hid” on the Inner Side LED and the spoke number on the Outer Side LED. See Figure 47. There are usually 3-9 spokes. Press [↑] or [↓] to select the right spoke number in the order of “3-4-5-6-7-8-9-Off”. Suppose we select Hid=5 (see Figure 46). “Off” means no spoke number is storedin the program.

Rotate the wheel to make one spoke centerd 12 o’clock to the top then press the [ENTER] Key, the system will memorize it as the starting position. Press the [F] Key to return to the mode ALU-1P or 2P, the hide balance program is still stored in the memory. The Hide Balance Program Indicator and the Rim Balance Program Indicator come on together.

Perform the operation of mode ALU-1P or ALU-2P. Suppose a wheel has 50 grams of imbalance value on the outer side rim (see Figure 48). The Wheel Balancer can automatically divide it into 18 grams and 41 grams - weights.

To attach the Weight, rotate the wheel till spoke to 1 which will arrive to the 12 o’clock position, the system will display 20 grams (it displays 18 grams if not rounded) on the Outer Side LED. When spoke 2 arrives to the top the system will display 40 grams (it displays 41 grams if not rounded) on the outer side LED. The user can attach the Weight by following the procedures of mode ALU-1P or ALU-2P on the Rim Balance.

Note: If the error code “Err 26” appears, it means the Hide Balance Program is not entered through “Mode ALU-2P of the Rim Balance”, and the operation is valid. The user can enter the mode ALU-1P or 2P of the Rim Balance Program first to perform the Hide Balance Program.

If the error code “Err 7” appears, it means the Hide Balance Program is not temporarily performed even after selecting Mode ALU-1P or 2P of the Rim Balance Program. To solve it, the user can perform the balance operation of either Mode ALU-1P or 2P first.

6.8 other assistant Functions[g/oz] ConvertingOn the Control Panel, press and hold down the [F] Key for about 6 seconds, the system will enter the [g/oz] Function, when attaching the Weight. It will remain in the chosen mode, even if the machine is turned off.

5g roundThe Weight commonly multiplies by 5 grams during Wheel Balancing. The Wheel Balancer is specially designed with 5g round for the balance value. When entering the above-mentioned balance, press the Function Key, the “THR” Indicator on the Control Panel will come on for the user to select or diminish the function. The Wheel Balancer defaults to 5g round when powered.

Metric/English System ConvertingWhen inputting wheel data the Wheel Balancer defaults to the English system as the unit of the wheel width and diameter. Press [ENTER] to convert it to the Metric/ English system. There are mm and inch indicators on the Control Panel also.

Sleep FunctionIf the user does not operate the Wheel Balancer continuously for 5 minutes it will go into SLEEP status, which will cause it to go into low power-consumption status. Press any Key to awake it and resume to the status before sleeping.

Repeat the Weight Calibration and Measure Scale Calibration.

Er3 CAL This is caused mainly when the Wheel Balancer System has a self-calibration weight error. This is usually caused by a unexpected error (the power being cut during calibrating).

Repeat the Weight Calibration.

Er4 CAL The imbalanced value is to large during Weight Calibration, which may influence the calibration of the Wheel Balancer.

Perform the Dynamic Balance for the wheel. Replace a wheel with small imbalanced value. Then repeat the Weight Calibration.

Er5 CAL The Measure Scale Self-Calibration error occurs in the Wheel Balancer System mainly due to a unexpected error (the power being cut during calibration).

Repeat the Measure Scale Calibration.

Err 7 The Function is not temporarily selected.

Press [Start] Key to perform a balance operation before selecting the program.

Err 10 The Measure Scale is not released to its original position when the Wheel Balancer is powered.

Turn off the Wheel Balancer and release the Measure Scale and then restart it.

Err 11 The Measure Scale is pulled more than 23” during diameter measuring.

Release the Measure Scale, turn off the power, and turn it on again.

Err 20 The Measure Scale is not properly positioned during Scale Calibration.

Position the measure scale correctly, and repeat the scale calibration.

Err 23 The weight value of Pasted/Clipped Lead is not correct or complete in the program of mode ALU-1P or 2P.

Input the weight value by following the way of mode ALU-1P or 2P.

Err 26 This error is caused when the Hide Balance Program is not properly matched with mode ALU-1P or 2P.

Select mode ALU-1P or 2P before entering the Hide Balance Program.

ALU Err The inputted data is incorrect during Rim Balance.

Input the correct rim data.

OPT Err The error occurs during the Match Program operation.

Repeat the operation.

Cr Err This is caused by either the Protective Hood not being put all the way down or by the wire of the Protective Hood not being shorted.

Put down the Protective Hood or short the wire.

Connect the Wire, put down the Protective Hood. Short the Wire if there is no Protective Hood.
