Instructions for installing Redback Android App V0.0.1

Once you have completed installation of your Redback Smart Hybrid, the Redback Tech – Energy Manager (Android phone App) is your primary means of interaction with your inverter.

You will need to onboard the inverter using a phone or tablet. This process will enable the inverter to use the home WiFi router to communicate with the Redback portal server in the Microsoft cloud. Once the inverter is onboarded, it will be accessible remotely on the web portal and the phone App.

Please follow the steps in this guide to complete the onboarding process and the subsequent task of commissioning the inverter.

To be able to do this procedure, you will need to be an installer and have an installer account on the Redback portal.

If you are not registered as an installer on the Redback web portal, please follow this link to register: https://portal.redbacktech.com/Account/RegisterInstaller

If you have an installer account, please proceed with the onboarding.

Login process

1. Start Redback App on your android device. Please make sure you have the latest App. You may run the update from the Google Play store before you start the onboarding.

2. The login page will appear if the user has never logged in previously.

3. If the login page does not appear, please go to ‘Settings’ menu.

4. Tap on ‘Account Settings’. You will be asked to enter your username and password. Please type in the email address and password you used to set up your Redback login.

Onboarding

Onboarding is how you get the inverter to use the home network device, and subsequently use the home gateway to communicate with the Redback web portal. This process only needs to be done once. To onboard your system please complete the following:

1. Start the Redback Android App.

2. Go to ‘Settings’ section in the App.

3. Tap on ‘Find inverter’ button.

4. On ‘Find inverter’ page select the ‘Find new inverter’ option.

5. In the list of available inverters, select the Inverter that you want to onboard to the local WiFi network. The device will have a distinctiveSSID,theprefixofRedback followed by an underscore and the last two digits of the inverter’s serial number. Please select the device you want to onboard.

6. Enter the password for the inverter (the default password is 12345678) and press ‘connect’ to complete the connection process.

7. After the inverter connects to the WiFi network, tap on ‘Yes’ in the pop up dialogueboxtocontinue.

8. When you press ‘Yes’ the pop up dialoguebox,youwillgetalistof available WiFi networks in the inverter’s surroundings, select the WiFi network’s SSID which you would like to onboard the inverter to.

9. Enter the password for the WiFi network and connect.

10.Once connected, the ‘Find inverter’ page appears.

11.On the ‘Find inverter’ page, please select the ‘Find new inverter’ option.

12.In the list of ‘Found inverters’ serial number list, select the one that matches your inverter’s serial number. At this stage the main App page shows up and the onboarding process is complete.

Connect the inverter to the Redback web portal

Connecting the inverter to the Redback web portal will allow you to monitor the inverter’s energy generation and consumption as well as set and change the inverter’s scheduled setup and installer settings from the web portal and the smart phone App remotely.

1. Start the Redback Android App.

2. Go to ‘Settings’ section in the App.

3. Tap on the ‘Installer Setting’.

4. Go to ‘Advanced Settings’ page.

5. Set ‘IoT Connection Setup’ to ‘True’.

6. Go to ‘Settings Summary’ page.

7. Tap on ‘Start’ to apply the setting. A pop up window will appear, and indicate if the inverter is successfully connected to the Redback Cloud server.

Connect to other inverters

Whenmultipleinvertersexistinyourlocalwirelessnetwork,youcanaddthenewinverterandconnect them to the App. The process to connect to another inverter that is onboarded to your local wireless network:

1. Start Redback Android App.

2. Go to ‘Settings’ section in the App.

3. Tap on ‘Find inverter’ button.

4. On ‘Find inverter’ page, select the ‘Findexistinginverter’option.

5. In the list of ‘Found inverters’ serial numbers list, select the one you want to connect to. The App’s main page will appear and this process is done.

Monitoring

Monitoring means that the App user can see the current status of energy consumption and generation of the Redback system. To monitor your system:

1. Start the Redback Android App.

2. On the main page, the diagram shows the currentenergyflowoftheinverter.

3. By tapping on any of the icons on the main page, you will be able to see the detailed status of the different sections of the inverter.

Relay control

From the App, you can also setup a command, or schedule to turn on/off load control relays as you wish. The process to control the load relays is:

1. Start Redback Android App.

2. Go to ‘Devices’ section in the App.

3. In the list of devices, select a relay.4. ‘Controllable devices’ page appears.5. To turn on/off a relay permanently, set the value in ‘Type’ row to ‘On’ / ‘Off’

6. To setup a turn on schedule for a relay, set the value in ‘Type’ row to ‘Schedule’ and open schedule management page by tapping ‘Schedules’ button.

7. In ‘Schedules’ page, you can add new schedule or modify the current schedules for the relay.

8. After the set-up is done, go back to the ‘Controllable devices’ page, and tap ‘Save’ button on the top-right screen to apply the Relay Control setup.

Inverter mode control

From the App, you can setup a command or schedule to set the inverter into different modes.The process to control the different inverter modes is:

1. Start Redback Android App.

2. Go to ‘Settings’ section in the App.

3. Tap on ‘User Setting’ button

4. In the ‘User Setting’ page tap ‘Inverter Mode’ button.

5. ‘Inverter Mode’ page will appear.

- To send a command to set the inverter mode permanently, select ‘Set’ for ‘Type’ and the inverter mode you want to put the inverter to.

- To setup a schedule for the inverter mode, please select ‘Schedule’ for Type, and tap on ‘Schedules’ button to open schedule management page.

7. On the schedule management page, you can add a new schedule or modify the current schedule to set the inverter to a different mode.

8. After all setup is done, go back to the ‘User Setting’ page and tap ‘Apply’ on the top right of the screen to apply the ‘Inverter Mode’ setting.
