1 Vehicle frame crossmember

The twist locks must be welded on all round with a weld correspond-ing to the example on the rear plate.

Mounting positions that deviate from the view shown are possibleaccording to the design circumstances and are permitted.

If a weld different from that shown in the diagram is selected, it musthave at least the same strength. The vehicle builder is responsiblefor this.

Twist locks without rear plate must be welded on all round in thesame way.

4.2 Checking notesThese notes are intended for assistance in checks during the courseof maintenance and repair work. They apply to standard applicationsin the area of transporting containers and swap-bodies. The require-ments of special applications may differ from these, and must beadapted by the user to the requirements if necessary.

You or the operator every day before starting to drive must con-duct a visual check of all locks to make sure they are complete, un-damaged and are functioning correctly.

At least every six months have the following points carried out byqualified specialist personnel:

HousingFunction of the inside lock parts is not impaired (all operatingpositions indicated in the operating instructions are possible).Housing does not have any abnormal deformation (little defor-mation due to operation, e.g. the top plate is in admissible con-dition).No visible crack formation.

LatchIn place, undamaged and functioning correctly (clamping nutis secured to prevent it from coming loose inadvertently whenclamped).

Guide bush and outer bushGeneral: no abnormal damage or damage which impairs func-tion (signs of striking on the cams of the clamping nut are ad-missible).Guide bush: no deformations which impair function (pivot pincan be clamped correctly between the two cams of the guidebush with the clamping nut).Thread: no abnormal (local) wear or damage which impairsfunction. Clamping nut can be moved adequately by hand onthe pivot pin without requiring assistance.

Securing ring or toggleIn place and functioning (clamping nut is secured to prevent itfrom coming unscrewed from the pivot pin).

4 Check

10 MUB 013 002 M01 (REV--) 12/2016 Twist Locks

Pivot pin and clamping nutAbnormal damage or damage, deformation and wear which im-pairs function.Pivot pin and clamping nut thread. These are not allowed todisplay any visually apparent wear or damage over the entirecourse of their length, nor are they allowed to be damaged ordeformed. If is preferable for the check to be performed withthe components removed.

JSMTL/012

Examples of inadmissible thread wear.

Pivot pin head (especially on the bottom side) with visually ap-parent, abnormal (local) wear or abnormal deformations ordamage which impairs function.

JSMTL/013

Examples of inadmissible wear on the pivot pin head.

ADVICE!No binding limit values have been defined for wear.

Recommendation:If there is clearly apparent axial play and/or the clampingnut moves from side to side, the pivot pin and clampingnut should be renewed.
