It all started back in 1996, a group of volunteers decided that a community

project on a large scale needed to be established. We founded Inspiration FM

which targeted cultural awareness in Northamptonshire. Over the years, they

were granted short term radio licences which was a great start and they were

helped along the way from a number of sponsors.

We've been based at 20 Sheep Street, Northampton NN1 2LU since 1996 and

along the way we have achieved a number of things. Here's to name a few;

-Greek show added to line-up in November 1997.

-Northants Police Community Action Award 2001.

-Winners of the Queens Award for Voluntary Services 2004.

After continuing our vision to provide a service to the wider community, in

2010, Ofcom granted Inspiration FM with a 5 year licence enabling us a full 24

hours a day service. A lot of effort was put together recruiting new volunteers,

testing out transmissions as well as promoting the exciting news to everyone.

On Saturday 24th July 2010, Inspiration FM was officially opened by the local

Mayor. A year has now passed and this brand new newsletter will guide you

through some of the things we have done to help the multicultural community

here in Northamptonshire over the past year.

Supporting the Community.

Over the years before we had our new 5 year licence, we were committed to

help the community become aware of what some people or organisations do

within Northamptonshire. To assist, we carried a number of interviews on air.

From July 2010 to present, we have been extensively continuing to help out the

community in order to help them get exposure. To name a few, here are some

organisations we have helped out over the past year through interviews...

About this Issue.This brand new newsletter shows you a snapshot of events that has

happened from June to the followup of our first Inspiration FM 1st

Birthday.

Through a series of photographs and links to videos, here are some of the

events we have done over the summer.

Since we’re a non profit orgnisation and all of us are volunteers, funding

is what keeps us going at the station.

Party in the Park.

On Saturday 4th June it was a gorgeous sunny day for party in the park. The Inspiration FM crew were

down to enjoy the sunshine. It was the first time an event like this has been done in Northampton with the

performing acts The Knights of The Damned, Leon Jackson, the Chippendoubles and many more.

Over 4000 people turned up to the event with the organisers keen to do the same next year. Here are some

Carnival 2011.On Saturday 11th June Northampton was getting ready and preparing for a gorgeous

event in the sunshine, the Northampton carnival. The theme this year was Footsteps

Through Life: A Colourful Journey. The event which was in its 7th year had a record high

of 50 floats as well as a fun fair, food stalls, ethnic art and other local businesses based

in Delapre Park.

It was a beautiful and successful turnout with a great number of acts performing on

stage to keep the crowds entertained.

Inspiration FM’s 1st Birthday Bash

On Saturday 23rd July we celebrated our birthday in style with a fantastic turnout at the

Bandstand in Abington Park. From noon we had a great lineup of acts celebrating our day

including;

-United Brass -Hannah Faulkner- Lannice -Chris & Julie with The Irish Show -Paris Munro

-Ultimate Brass -Celtic Rasta -The Paper Men -JNR -Dave Vegas Project -Love Poets -Rogue

State Circus.

It was a brilliant success with the Inspiration FM family around to meet and greet the people

that arrived as well as the Mayor of Northampton making an appearance. It was great to

see you, the listeners and supporters, who came in your hundreds in which we are truly

grateful for. We would like the opportunity again to say thank you!

On every weekday between 6-8pm, there is a multi-cultural community show. These

guys provide some excellent styles of alternate music as well as showing how successful

we are at being a cultural community radio station.
