ANOTHER 50 YEARSFor 50 years we have developed and improved products that make it easier for you

to enjoy nature. The challenges we face today are the same as when we started: to act responsibly toward animals and nature, arouse and maintain interest in outdoor living and develop durable,

timeless and functional equipment you can trust. By following these principles, we hope to be able to bring you another 50 years of quality time.

The whole idea behind Fjällräven is to of-fer functional equipment for more - and more comfortable - trips into the out-doors. A prerequisite for this is that we continue to find innovative, smart solu-tions, improve material, decrease weight and increase the freedom of movement in our clothing and equipment.

As early as the 1970s, we took curious be-ginners out into the wilderness with our Fjällräven weeks at Riksgränsen. Over the years we have taken tens of thousands of people on different types of adventures. Fjällräven Classic is an example of folk festivals in the world's most beautiful en-vironments.

It is gratifying to see that an increasing number of people seem to be finding their way there. Nature seems to be gaining in importance for more people, and interest in the environment is growing across the globe. There is no need to go out for days at a time to enjoy the au-tumn and winter. Sometimes just going around the corner from where you live can suffice. However, there is a certain charm in venturing further out, venturing out beyond well-travelled paths once you have acquired the experience and equipment you need. To go cross-country skiing and perhaps even sleep outside. However, the winter mountains also contain hardships and risks. Winter weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Within just a few minutes, you can experience both strong winds and snowfall, which is why you need more than just experience and knowledge of the mountains if you go out on your own. You also need equipment you can trust. It has always been my goal to offer the best conditions possible

for enjoying nature by providing carefully designed equipment. Our entire focus is on functionality. No unnecessary details, only functions that are useful. This is how it has always been. And how it will always be. We work exactly the same way today as we did 50 years ago. We develop new practical solutions for clothing and equipment, pro-tect animals and nature and work to help more people develop a love of nature. I consider this to be our way of contributing to a good standard of living for ourselves and for all other living creatures. For the simple reason that I love the outdoors myself. Treks in the wilderness. In addition to their own trips, our staff regularly

disappear into the wilderness to learn more about themselves and nature and

to find inspiration for new products.

Ever since our founder, Åke Nordin, launched his revolution-ary backpacks and tents in the 1960s, we have continued our proud tradition of producing timeless, durable and function-al equipment. We put our heart and soul into our products. The goal is as clear as it is firm. Our equipment must be able to follow you through the years, be put to the test time and time again, without failing to meet your expectations and de-mands. To one day become a favourite of your grandchildren. But how are products developed? We develop equipment that we would want to use ourselves That's right, we personally head out into nature on our own ad-ventures so we can discover innovative, smart solutions, improve our fabrics, shave off kilograms and increase the mobility of our clothes and equipment. We even bring in experts from differ-ent areas to provide additional input and broaden our knowledge about our equipment. After contemplating on our own and other

people's experiences, we produce sketches that are then sewn into prototypes.

Laboratories and practical useOnce finished, the prototypes are tested both in textile labo-ratories and in the field. In the laboratories, the garments are not only pulled, torn and worn but are measured for waterproof-ness and breathability. Test groups hit the trails to test again and again if the solutions work the way they are intended.

New favouritesAfter countless adjustments and new tests, we are proud to present this season's new additionsed friends. Our product development strategy is similar to that of the evolution of nature - the strongest survive even as new, adapted products are added.

Product tests. Our test groups expose our prototypes and finished products to more wear and tear in a few months than they would ever see during years of practical use.

In the beginning of the 1970s we decided

to never freeze again.Winter expeditions put your equipment to the test. When experienced adventurists told Fjällräven’s founder, Åke Nordin, that their warm garments did not keep them warm enough, he made a deci-sion. No one should ever again have to freeze while out in nature.

Two jackets became oneFabrics were tested and a search was launched for the highest quality down. Unfor-tunately, the early prototypes were not as warm as Åke had hoped. But then he was struck by an unusually good idea - if one jacket was not warm enough, why not make two jackets? And, as simple as that, two warm jackets were sewn together into one. Tests soon showed that warm air was trapped bet-ween the two layers, making the new jacket warmer. In addition, its seams were staggered to stop cold winds from cooling the body.

Smart functionsThe hood was designed to be large and roomy and had a drawstring opening so only the eyes were visible when pulled tight. Push buttons were added to the zipper for better safety, but also to increase ventilation by only using the buttons. Extra hand-warming pockets were sewn behind the regular pockets and the shoulders were filled with extra padding to ensure that this area main-tained its warmth and shape even when carrying a back-pack or heavy items in the pockets. To provide room for layering, the jacket was given a roomy fit.

The ultimate testBefore the jacket could be shipped to the

stores, it naturally needed to be tested. The first test was carried out at high

elevation as a group of Swedes used the jacket during an expedition

to the Himalayas in 1973. Fjällräven’s own tests in the Norrland region of Sweden also gave positive feedback. In 1974, Expedition Dun was

ready to be released to the pu-blic.

Classified as art by a court of lawThere have been many attempts

to imitate this optimal winter jacket. At the beginning of

2000s, the imitations went so far that the Supreme Court and the Svea

Court of Appeal passed down a verdict that the construction of Expedition Dun was so original it deserved to be

protected by copyright laws and should be classified as artwork.

Still just as popularToday we continue our proud tradition of making jack-ets for expeditions and cold winters. Forty years after Expedition Dun saw its first winter in Örnsköldsvik it is still our most popular jacket. When the ice freezes over and the wind turns bitter cold, many people wrap around themselves the warm arms of an old friend.

ARKTIS PARKA

Down jackets – pages 8 - 11You are most exposed during motionless activities such as dog sledding and ice fishing or when on expeditions in the extreme cold or at high altitudes. This is when our thick, high-quality down garments with a protective outer fabric and warm construction truly shine. The reason is simple - when it comes to warmth, nothing can beat a high-quality down jacket. You will find our different down jackets on pages 8 and 11. Some of them have a waterproof shell while others have been reinforced with classic Vinylon F.

Synthetic jackets – pages 12-13The fibres in Supreme Microloft are one of the best synthetic fibres on the market today. The combination of thin and slightly thicker silicon-treated microfibres fills the jackets with air, which has an insulating effect. The principle is the same as in down jackets. But the synthetic fibres resist moisture better than down and keep their warming properties even when wet. Many of our jackets in Supreme Microloft are also completely waterproof.

G-1000 jackets – pages 14 – 15G-1000 is our own durable, functional material and a classic ingredient in our clothing and equipment. The tight weave of the fabric is impregnated with a thin layer of Greenland Wax. This blend makes the fabric extremely durable while also breathing well and drying quickly. Some of our G-1000 jackets are lined for colder days while others are unlined for year-round use.

Shell jackets – pages 16 – 20Your early spring trek will be an even more wonderful experi-ence if you dress properly using the layer principle, i.e. with a shell jacket as your outer layer when you are active. On pages 16 to 20 you will find jackets for a more active outdoor life. With reinforcements at areas exposed to friction, pockets you can reach even when wearing a backpack and good ventilation, you will be able to focus on your adventure. Our shell jackets come in breathable, water resistant and durable G-1000 as well as in waterproof Hydratic.

New Arktis Parka is a long, extremely durable down parka that keeps you warm even when the temperature plunges. Re-inforcements in Vinylon F in the front, on the sleeves and in the rear offer extra pro-tection against snow and rain. The primary material is breathable G-1000®. Many smart functions and pockets. For example, the large breast pockets can hold a thermos while the smaller pockets on the outside are perfect for keys, a compass and multi tools. There are two large bellow pockets at the hem and two pockets with comfortable fleece lining to keep your hands warm. There are also two large mesh pockets in stretch and one zippered pocket on the inside for a mobile phone or GPS. Yupik for men and Nuuk for women are large winter parkas that keep you warm, even over your rear and thighs. The perfect winter garments for changing weather conditions. Greenland Parka in durable G-1000 with light padding and long cut will keep your rear and thighs warm. G-1000® breathes well and can be impregnated with wax for extra resistance to wind and rain. It can be difficult to imagine that the air can be so clear. That the landscape can be so pristine. The only thing you hear is the sound of your skis gliding forward. You glance up and the soft altitude curves on the map are in reality blanketed in a dazzling white snow. The further out into the mountains you come, the wider and the more dramatic the views.

The majority of winter trekking trails go over vast mountain moors. Located open and high, this landscape means that you can walk and see in all directions. This also means that this area is prone to the forces of nature. Still, it is never particularly far to the nearest mountain hut or mountain station. The mountain stations in Vålådalen and Storulvån, run by the Swedish Tourist Association (STF), are jumping off points to vast mountains, where well-visited trails are appreciated for their moderate difficulty. Choose Jämtland’s triangle if you want a sure classic. Bunnerfjäll is easy hiking despite its lack of marked trails. Vålådalen Nature Reserve is extremely diverse. Here, old forests that are perfect when the weather advises against a tour

in the bare mountain region. More sparsely inhabited trails and huts are found in the fish-abundant mountains of Anarisfjäll and Lunndörrsfjäll, with the characteristic u-shaped Lunndörr pass. High alpine Sylarna is for you who like challenges. Even Helags is impressive, with Sweden’s southernmost glacier and bashful arctic fox. South-east of Helags, the valley of Ljungda-len comprises a third entry point to mountain world of Jämtland. Tur Fleece is a group of fleece products that combine the temperature- regulating properties of wool with the durability and quick-drying proper-ties of polyester. Many people are saying that we, together with our partners, have fueled an entire folk movement. From the early days of the company we have brought curious beginners and experienced arctic foxes out into nature. In the 1970s, "Fjällräven weeks" en-couraged city folk to dare to head out into the mountains around Riksgränsen with the motto "For those of you who don't know a thing about the mountains - but want to". Today Fjällräven Classic draws thousands of people from the entire world out into nature. Starting in the Sami village of Nikkaluokta, one hundred ten kilometres are covered before reaching the finish line in Abisko, which is located 200 kilome-tres north of the Arctic Circle.

We are also constantly on the hunt for materials and methods of production that are less harmful for the environment without compromising the quality of our products. For us, quality is not just how well a product works and how long it lasts, but also how it is produced. We consistently weigh advantages against disad-vantages and try to make improvements. Today we are taking the following measures:

Climate compensation – To contribute to a decrease in green house gases, we are compensating for the CO2 emissions caused by the pro-duction and transport of the Kånken and Kajka backpacks.

Fluorocarbon free – Today, many waterproof garments rely on fluorocarbons. It is a well-known fact that fluorocarbons are harmful to both living organisms and our environ-ment, so we have chosen not to use them.

Bamboo – We use bamboo in some of our fleece jackets and shirts since growing bam-boo is 100% natural and does not use any pesticides.

Natural Impregnation – Many impregnations contain environmental toxins. Our Greenland Wax, made for G-1000, is a completely natural product consisting of bee wax and parafin.

Organic Cotton – All of our t-shirts are made from certified organic cotton. This cotton is grown without adding toxins and harmful pesticides.

Recycled Polyester – We use recycled polyester in many of our products to decrease our depen-dence on crude oil.

Fjällräven has worked closely with SEFALO (Saving The Arctic Fox) since the begin-ning of the 1990s. For every product sold from our »Save the Arctic Fox Collection«, we donate SEK 50 to SEFALO+ to stop the arctic fox population from shrinking and increase the chances of the species for recovery.

We have worked with down for more than 40 years because it is has extremely useful insulation properties. The insulation ratio for down in relation to its weight is one of the highest. We only use high quality down that comes from the food industry.

How do you plan to use your trousers? For an active outdoor life in the mountains or forests you should choose trousers made from durable, flexible G-1000. Cool, quick-drying Micro Travel (MT) is suitable for warmer latitudes. If you want waterproof trousers that breathe well, Hydratic is the natural choice.

How do you want your trousers to fit? In our collection you will find trousers with both a classic fit (regular fit) and a more re-laxed fit (comfort fit). Our trousers are also available with three waists: high, classic and low.

What sort of extra functions do you need? All of our trousers are made for an active outdoor life, but some have double-layer reinforcements for extremely tough wear. Others use stretch for total freedom of movement. Several have both. We offer a selection of trousers in raw length so you can tailor them to the length that you want, but we also have trousers with fixed leg endings. Some trousers also have a "zip-off function". It's easy to turn them into shorts on a warm day, simply zip the legs back on when the evening becomes chilly or you are in rough terrain. VIDDA AND BARENTS KARL AND KARLAThe popular outdoor trousers Karl for men and Karla for women are available in many versions. In durable G-1000, in airy MT and with the waterproof Hydratic membrane. The are also available in full-length or zip-off models. Classic fit, low waist and raw length.

1. Take a scoop of Greenland Wax and rub it into the garment where you want to strengthen the impregnation. Apply the wax generously.

2. Using a hairdryer, iron or dryer, heat the garment until the wax melts and is absorbed by the fabric.

Vidda and Barents are two hardwearing classics for active outdoor use, and a favourite among experienced mountaineers since 1999. The trousers are made from durable G-1000® with extra reinforcements over the rear and knees for tougher use. Both of the trousers have 7 pockets, including a map pocket, an axe pocket and an inner safety pocket, as well as a high waist and comfort fit. The difference between the models is that Vidda has elastic adjustments in the leg endings and Barents comes in raw length, which means that you can adjust the trouser leg to exactly the length you want. Barents is also available in a winter version with a light lining.

3. Take a scoop of Greenland Wax and rub it into the gar-ment where you want to strengthen the impregnation. Hold the garment several

decimetres over a steady, strong flame from your camping stove. Do not hold the garment so close to the flame that it could catch on fire, and take the garment off before heating it. Move the garment back and forth over the flame until the wax melts.

You can adapt your G-100 garment to different weather conditions by using environ-mentally friendly Greenland Wax. In rain and heavy winds, more wax can be heated into exposed areas. If the weather at your destination will be primarily sunny, you can wash out the wax. With a thin layer of wax, G-1000 is cool and offers maximum breathability.

SIPORA TROUSERS

MT consists of micropolyamide and a soft cotton blend that gives the fabric a soft, brushed feel. It combines low weight with high strength, but still has cotton's cool properties. It is also UV resistant, fairly water repellent and wrinkle-free. Breathability is high despite the tight weave.

Quick-drying.MT products offer maximum breathability and dry quickly. The fabric dries three times as quickly as cotton.

Lightweight.MT products are lightweight and practi-cally wrinkle-free, which makes them ideal for travels and adventures in warm climates.

UV protection.MT is a protective fabric that blocks almost all UV radiation - includ-ing both alpha and beta rays. MT offers twice the protection of cotton.

Sipora is made from lightweight, quick-drying MT with built-in UV protection. The trousers can be shortened in two stages thanks to the zip-off function. Eight pockets, including an inner safety pocket. Adjustments at the bottom edge of the 3/4-length zip-off section. The trousers have a classic waist with elastic in the side and classic fit. 2 mm thick polyester stormlines that are strategi-cally placed around the tent. A smart solution makes it possible to fasten the stormlines with one hand even when wearing gloves.

The V-shaped compression bag makes packing simple and keeps your pack small.

Adjustable foxfeet make it easy to pitch the tent in all weather conditions.

All of Fjällräven’s tents have folded seams for added strength in hard winds. The cotton-covered synthetic thread swells when it becomes wet, mak-ing the seams waterproof.

Aluminium poles: light-weight poles with elastic silicon cords that can withstand the cold.

Different-sized poles are marked with colour coding. The sleeve has the same colour as the correct pole, which makes it easy to match the proper pole with the proper sleeve.

The outer and inner tents are connected, but can be easily separated if neces-sary. All vents and door openings are covered with mosquito nets, except Skule.

Your tent is one of the most important pieces of your equipment. It provides shelter during storms and a place to recover and rest. SLEEPING BAGS TENTThe Thermo sleeping bag is our most popular sleeping bag. It comes in three different temperatures: +/-0, +5 and +10. All three follow the contours of the body and have syn-thetic padding. They have extra space for your shoulders and legs for improved mobility and a better night's sleep. There is also a comfortable head section with an easily ac-cessible drawcord on the inside. Inside the sleeping bag you will find a practical zippered pocket for small items

you want to have close at hand. There is a full-length, two-way zipper on the left side that can be opened at the feet. There is also a short zipper on the right side for ventilation. Both zippers have a toggle button next to the hood, which makes it possible to sit in the sleeping bag with your arms outside the bag and the hood up. This also makes it pos-sible to hold the top part of the sleeping bag in place if you are sleeping with the zippers open.

Sleeve buttonMany of our shirts have an ad-ditional piece of fabric with a buttonhole on the inside of the sleeve. This allows you to roll up your sleeve and button it so it does not roll down.

Raw lengthMost of our trousers come in raw length. This means that you can adjust the length of the legs to your exact requirements.

Safety pocketSeveral of our trousers have an extra zippered inside pocket that is large enough for your valu-ables, such as money, jewellery, passports, tickets and credit cards.

Some of our trousers have a zip-off function. This allows you to adjust the length of the trouser legs from full length to shorts or, in some cases, 3/4 length.

Proven over timeVinylon F is the functional material that has played a large role in helping the Kånken age gracefully. Vinylon F, which is a synthetic fibre, has many of the positive properties of natural fibres. Fabrics used to make bags normally need to be treated to be waterproof and they often lose their waterproofness over time. Vinylon F does not need to be coated - it absorbs moisture better than any other synthetic fibre.

Vinylon F swells like a natural fibre, which makes it denser when it rains. This gives it waterproof qualities without needing any treatment. Vinylon F is unbeatable since it is both lightweight and extremely durable, a combina-tion that many modern materials cannot match. It keeps its properties year after year and weighs 145 g/m2, which is comparable to most of the modern lightweight materials that are used in backpacks.

MT consists of micropolyamide and a soft cotton blend that gives the fabric a soft, brushed feel. It combines low weight with high strength, but still has cotton's cool properties. It is also UV resistant, fairly water repel-lent and wrinkle-free. Breathability is high despite the tight weave. You can find our MT products under Travel.

Quick-drying.MT products offer maximum breathability and dry quickly. The fabric dries three times faster than cotton.

Lightweight.MT products are lightweight and practically wrinkle-free, which makes them ideal for travels and adventures in warm climates.

UV protection.MT is a protective fabric that blocks almost all UV radia-tion - including both alpha and beta rays. MT offers twice the protection of cotton.

MT

G-1000® – an unsurpassed classicG-1000 is a classic in Fjällräven clothes. Its densely woven fabric is a 65 % polyester and 35 % cotton blend, making the material windproof and extremely hardwearing. An added impregnation also makes it water resistant. You can improve the impregnation by applying Fjällräven’s environmentally friendly Greenland Wax. The high-strength fabric effectively releases moisture from the body and is ideal for an active outdoor life. Wind and waterproof garments with Hydratic also let bodily moisture es-cape, making it less likely that you’ll be unpleasantly sweaty. This is called“diffusing”, i.e. keeping rain and water out but releasing the evaporating moisture from the body. Although somewhat simplified, the term is that the clothes breathe or have breathability. Hydratic, which is a coating, laminate or loose membrane, is combined with other fabrics and providesdifferent levels of waterproofness and breathability depending on the combination. Our Hydratic products are primarily found in the Trekking and Forest lines.Waterproofness is measured in water columns, i.e. the pres-sure the fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. The higher the water column, the more pressure the fabric can withstand. 1In purely technical terms, products that can withstand a water column 1,000 millimetres high are considered waterproof, although the pressure from kneeling on wet ground is higher. Garments with Hydratic can withstand a column of 8, 000 to 20, 000 millimetres.Breathability is measured by the number of grams of wa-ter a square meter of fabric lets out in 24 hours. Hydratic releases between 3, 000 and 15, 000 grams. The higher the number, the more moisture that is let out.

BAMBOO CHARCOALBamboo Charcoal comes from bamboo that is charred at high temperatures. Bamboo is 100% natural, since it is grown without pesticides, and it therefore is an environmentally friendly alternative. In our clothes, bamboo charcoal-treated polyester prevents the growth of bacteria. The garments are also quick-drying and moisture-wicking.

Prevents bacteria growth: The structure of bamboo charcoal contains natural minerals that absorb moisture, counteract bacteria growth and reduce bad odours. Naturally grown: Bamboo farming does not hurt the environment since it does not require chemical pesticides or fertilizers and bamboo is also one hundred percent organic.Quick-drying: Polyester means that the garments dry quickly. Moisture transporting. Polyester helps wick moisture away from the skin to the outside of the material, where it evaporates.

BAMBOO FIBREBamboo fibers are naturally anti-bacterial, highly breathable and envi-ronmentally friendly and bamboo has a soft, comfortable feel.Breathability: Due to the construction of the bamboo fiber, the garment is more breathable, comfortable and thermal-regulating than most other comparable fibers. A polyester fleece of the highest quality that keeps you warm and dry thanks to its excellent air pockets and moisture-wicking abilities. The material offers a lot of warmth for its weight, but it also keeps its shape and does not pill, even after repeated machine washings. Thanks to its moisture-wicking properties and wind penetration, Comfort Fleece is ideal even when you want to benefit from the wind's cooling ef-fects.
