Objectives

By the end of this course you will:

• Know the difference between SimView, Simview Mobile and Session Viewer.

• Have knowledge of advanced networking utilities to verify connectivity to your Laerdal Equipment.

• Be able to connect your Simpad and Linkbox to an external (your network), and understand the requirements to do this.

• Be able to connect your SimMan 3G to an external (your network), and understand the requirements to do this.

• Be able to connect your SimView to an external (your network), and understand the requirements to do this.

• Interface your Instructor Application and Simpad with Laerdal recording systems, and debrief with them.

• Gain knowledge of common issues with SimMan 3G, SimJunior and other manikins.

• Have hands on experience with resolving common issues with your Laerdal Equipment.

Advanced Networking

• All of our devices are PC’s, and therefore they will follow similar standards to most other computer systems.

• Some network diagnostic tools are command line and the network configuration utility within the Windows Operating System.

• Majority of our equipment may utilize a 2.4 or 5.0GHZ network. The difference is the power of the network, as well as the range.

• Our equipment will connect to a WPA2 Personal network. This is the security level of the network.

• Multicast, a networking protocol must be allowed in order for our devices to connect. Multicast allows our devices to see each other.

Command line

• ARP – A command. – Will allow you to see all IP addresses on a network.

• PING command – a test of Network connectivity between two IP addresses.

• Go over IPConfig – Shows your computers networking information.

• You may access the control panel via your start menu.

• What is a static IP address vs. Dynamic?

• What is the difference between a private, or public network? How does this affect my connectivity?

• Wired VS. Wireless connectivity. What is better for use?

LLEAP Network management utility

• We will demonstrate how to connect Simpad and Linkbox to external client network

• We will demonstrate how to connect SimMan 3G to external client network

• We will demonstrate network manager utilities within LLEAP, and go over the steps it takes to assist with functionality.

Non-Laerdal purchased computers

• The minimum requirements for a LLEAP Machine may be viewed here: http://www.laerdal.com/us/LLEAPImplementation.

• Recommended operations systems are:

• Encryption software such as DeepFreeze or Carbonite, are not recommended as it may cause issues with the Laerdal software.

• Our software requires full administrative rights.

• Laerdal will provide limited support to non-Laerdal purchased units, as we cannot fully verify the build. We can troubleshoot the issue up to our software.

SimView Mobile vs. SimView vs. Session Viewer

• All of these systems are used to record a session.

• Session Viewer will utilize webcams, and may be used on your Patient Monitor or LLEAP Instructor machine during a simulation without the need of any additional licenses. This system saves the debriefing files on the system doing the recording.

• Simview is a recording system that requires our Server, and installation. This system will save the debriefing files on the server.

• Simview Mobile is mix of Simview and SessionViewer. This system can utilize our network cameras, but is capable of running on the local Instructor or Patient Monitor machine. This system will save the debriefing files on the machine doing the recording.

LLEAP integration with SimView & Session Viewer

• We will demonstrate LLEAP connectivity to Session Viewer.

• We will demonstrate LLEAP connectivity to SimView and Simview mobile.

• As per our discussions earlier, it is highly recommended to have your recording system, and your Instructor Computer on the same network. This is due to the network protocols, as well as the amount of data being used when recording.

Updating Your Laerdal equipment on your network

• Laerdal recommends updates be your manikin be done while hard-wired. Wirelessly updating your manikin or Sipmad/Linkbox may cause issues as the data may corrupt.

• When LLEAP is updated, your manikin, Patient Monitor and Simpad/Linkbox will have an update as well. All would have to be updated, as a software mismatch will not allow the software to connect properly.

• Our software updates bi-annually.

• All Laerdal documentation may be accessed via http://www.laerdal.com/downloads.

• This site link will display a list of all our current products, in alphabetical order.

• Once a product is selected, the available downloads for the selected product will populate.

• Directions for Use (DFU) and User Guides will be on the top of the list.

• This document may be viewed via a .PDF viewer, or downloaded and saved.

• Can be saved to a flash drive, Laerdal PC, work PC or mobile device (tablet/phone) for easy access.

• This document can also be searched by pressing Control + F on the keyboard, and typing in what you would like to search for.

Differences with the latest software• LLEAP 5.4.0 – Has a new network selector. Able to re-organize and add new tiles within LLEAP. Updater refreshes on

every load of software checking for updates (requires internet access). 2 way audio simultaneously with SimMan 3G. Enhanced CPR feedback for QCPR supported units.

• Simpad/Linkbox 5.7.2 – SimView integration.Wireless, or wired connection to SimView server / Session viewer/SimViewMobile. A Set-Up Guide has been created to aid in establishing these connections and can be found in the download section of both SimPad and SimView. Start/stop recording while operating in manual or automatic mode. This opens up opportunities for video debriefing capabilities with lower end manikins that are operated by SimPad . Transfer log file from SimPad to SimView server. Support for optimised display of vital sign curves. Time stamped event log from SimPadand patient monitor will be integrated with video display . Technical log file Information appears by clicking on manikin/battery on the right top corner on SimPad. Technical information is stored and can be copied to PC using USB cable - Session Viewer. With the latest software, Session Viewer now enables audio and video capture from 1 HD USB web camera synchronized with the SimPad data log.

• SimView 5.2.5 – Upload event logs from SimView server directly to your SimManager account. This functionality strengthens the integration of the SimCenter portfolio. Customers can upload the event log to student records upon completion of the simulation, or at a later time from the Home screen - IP audio is enabled with this release. This feature will support use of an IP mic and a portable Axis camera (details about in-phasing of the IP audio components and portable camera will be issued in the near future). Our analogue mic offering is not being discontinued. This feature will help enable customers to conduct in-situ simulations using their SimView server. Customers will be able to select IP mics just like they select cameras for room set-up.

SimMan 3G LLEAP INTEGRATION

• We will demonstrate how to verify your manikins’ IP address via the LLEAP software.

• We will demonstrate how to utilize network manager in LLEAP to change from manikin to manikin (if in client mode on same network)

• We will demonstrate how to use the RFID tags within a healthy patient 3G scenario

SimMan 3G Test Utility

• We will demonstrate how to load into the test utility via remote desktop connection.

• We will demonstrate how to stop services (LLEAP or Legacy).

• We will demonstrate how to open the test utility.

• What are all the tabs for?

• How do I know if my battery is good, or bad?

• How do I know if my compressor leg is good, or bad? What is an occlusion test?

• We will demonstrate how to adjust the eyes of the manikin to test within the test utility.

• We will demonstrate how to verify RFID tags within the test utility, to make sure the arm is working.

• I cannot find my manikin IP to remote in. How do I get this information?

Common issues/maintenance Repairs 3G

• We will demonstrate how to replace the blood pressure port on the SimMan 3G.

• We will demonstrate how to replace the fluid and blood filters within the SimMan3G.

• We will demonstrate how to replace the IV drain nipple on the SimMan 3G.

• Pneumothorax bladders on the SimMan 3G. How to check and replace them.

• We will demonstrate how to swap the eye assembly of the SimMan 3G.

• What are eye spacers?

• Connectors may be cleaned out with Compressed Air!

SimJunior common issues/repairs

• We will demonstrate how to check the tongue edema connector and its’ integrity.

• We recommend verifying that the internal defibrillation cables are tight, and that the wingnuts are not loose.

• We will show how to take care with the chest skin, as the defibrillation cable (internal) can be pulled out of the board, equating to a service repair.

• We will show how the stomach distention hose may be kinked. Show how it should be correctly routed.

• We recommend verifying that the internal battery is connected.

• If replacing the IV arm skin, do not rip it off. Utilize a scalpel and cut it off.

• We recommend verifying the chest compression sensor, lung bags and chest rise bladder.

Simpad and linkbox

• We will demonstrate how to force update the manikin simulator, and recommended connection for this.

• We recommend good naming conventions for the Simpad and linkbox. This assists with Simpad and Linkbox connection to simstore, as well as knowing what you are connecting to via the name. We will demonstrate how to do this.

• We recommend using the device name labels that come with your Simpad and linkbox, to keep the units together.

Recording sessions with your Laerdal equipment

• We will demonstrate connecting 3G, Instructor PC, Patient Monitor PC and recording software to an external client network. We will also demonstrate how LLEAP reserves a session, and how the cameras and Patient Monitor PC are picked up.

• We will demonstrate connecting JR, Instructor PC, Patient Monitor PC and recording software to an external client network. We will also demonstrate how this setup records and debriefs.

• We will demonstrate connecting JR, Simpad/Linkbox and Simview to client network

• We will demonstrate how SimView mobile can connect to a LLEAP session on a client network, and show debrief.

Simview

• The server will need to be rebooted at times in order to maintain a consistent running state, as services degrade over time.

• We recommend backing up the AVS.SDF file in order to maintain your settings, and access to your recordings. This file is located under C:/Program Files x86/Simventures/SimView/AppData.

• Difference in Legacy vs LLEAP Patient Monitor. What do I select when adding to my system?

Serial number locations

• We recommend using the serial number wrist bands. This will make it easier to locate the serial number of your unit. If you are scheduled for installation, you may request your FSE to install this for you.

• We will show you where the serial numbers for 3G and Junior are located.
