This free-flowing sculptural net hangs from a tensioned structure of tubular steel rings, cables and poles. The net rises from 38 feet to 98 feet in the air. It tapers from 100 feet to about 15 feet in width. The largest support pole is 145 feet in height.
The rings are suspended 90 feet above the ground and are connected to each other by a star pattern of 1-inch diameter steel cable. The outer ring is fabricated from 16-inch diameter pipe and the inner ring is fabricated from 12-inch diameter pipe. The larger ring is approximately 100 feet across and the smaller ring 30 feet across.
It requires a great deal of experience to support and guide the creative process so that innovators and artists sense that their vision is being nurtured. The inherent tension between budgets, ambitions, and quality demands flexibility supported by engineering to create realistic options resulting in stunning projects.
CAID has the depth, experience, and aptitude to assemble the talent necessary to complete the most demanding architectural or artistic feature.

The University of Arizona recognized the need to create an extraordinary structure to complement their new BioMedical Research Building both aesthetically and functionally. The ramada structure, which CAID fabricated and installed, is located 90’ in the air and covers an area ¾ of an acre with stainless steel mesh. The mesh significantly reduces the summer heat striking the courtyard, while the louver configuration allows a breeze to pass through. Trusses span in excess of 180’ and were shipped to the jobsite in halves for field welding prior to installation.

The desire of municipalities to create public spaces that are both functional and aesthetic has resulted in challenging, yet rewarding projects, which must address public safety, minimize maintenance, and provide value, all while portraying quality and innovation. CAID has extensive experience in assisting public works projects to navigate the difficult road from concept to completion. Attention to detail and extensive planning is critical to achieving functional results and maintaining budgets. From transit stations to modular intersections, to significant works of public art, CAID has the knowledge and resources necessary to support the unique requirements of successful municipal projects.

DesignBuildIndustrialWhen a new steel mill was to be built outside Phoenix, CAID Industries was called on to produce 12’-diameter ducting, 16’-diameter stacks, and duct breaches for the air pollution control system. The duct design provided by CAID was efficient and economical, enhancing the environmental controls on this large project.

MiningTechnology&ServiceCAID engineers, designs, fabricates, and load tests material handling devices for lifting cathodes, anodes, and shorting frames to the ASME BTH-1 and ASME B30.20 “Below the Hook Lifting Device” Code. These can be built in carbon steel and stainless steel, including manually activated pneumatic controls for securing the load. Design considerations can include electrical isolation as well as evaluation of customer’s process to recommend the most cost effective solution. Lifting devices are placarded and certified after load testing.
