Technical Support

Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)

Four engineering activities from Infastech that reduce manufacturing cost and improve product performance

Infastech VA/VE is a cross-functional, creative and

systematic approach used by Infastech application

engineers interacting directly with customers to help

eliminate waste and improve their manufacturing

process ef ciency and product quality:

• Product Teardown

• On-Site / On-Line Assembly Evaluation

• Assembly Process Design

• Fastener Consolidation Program

Product Teardown

Our Application Engineers conduct VA / VE workshops

with customer design and engineering teams involving

the disassembly and analysis of products focusing

on component and joint design utilizing DFM / DFA

principles. These constructive VA/VE sessions help to

identify potential manufacturing cost savings, quality

enhancements, improved assembly methods and

reduction of internal DPPM levels.

On-Site / On-Line Assembly Evaluation

An on-site assembly evaluation is an organized method of

physically scrutinizing the assembly process to evaluate

joint designs and assembly methods. Infastech multi-

disciplinary teams can evaluate customer assembly

line operations, and this helps ensure the right balance

between fastener-in-application and application-in-

assembly is achieved to maximize output and minimize

production time. On-line assembly evaluations are

helpful in identifying and analyzing areas such as:

Awkward assembly and internal DPPM outcomes

High labour content

High scrap rate

Assembly Process Design

This is a systematic review of the product assembly

process that combines customer components and

Infastech fasteners with installation tooling to ensure

maximum ef ciency on the production line.

Fastener Consolidation Service

This process involves the careful analysis and

consolidation of customer Bills Of Materials and parts

lists to ensure joint performance is maintained whilst

minimizing the number of active fastener parts. This

service helps to reduce inventory and all associated

“hidden” costs.

Renewable Energies

Most forms of energy are a limited resource and are

subject to continued increase in cost, but as time

progresses Renewable Energy is becoming the energy of

choice globally, recognized for a virtually endless supply

and it’s positive environmental impact. Global government

support and incentives are being legislated into many

diverse renewable energy segments such as:

Solar Power PlantsElectric Motor Vehicles, and Wind Power Generation

Each of these segments has unique and demanding

fastening requirements, which are critical to the

success of the devices providing this renewable energy

source.

Avdel® structural fasteners have been widely used for

many years in demanding engineering applications

throughout the world and they offer excellent bene ts to

the solar energy segment.

NACRO®

Infastech has engineered the NACRO® drive system to meet the growing need for miniature sized fasteners across multiple industries.

It is crucial to select the proper drive system as it affects

fastener assembly speed, downtime, product design and

the amount of reworked and/or scrapped components.

The NACRO® drive system is one of the latest product

innovations from Infastech.

It has been designed speci cally for miniature applications

of 1mm thread diameter or less, requiring low pro le

heads and capable of achieving a high seating torque.

Acu® Coat

When you need a clean, dry nish that delivers consistent deep color and is RoHS compliant, Acu® coatings can meet or exceed your needs! Acu® coatings are dry to touch modi ed acrylic multilayer coatings that deliver optimum performance in lubricity, corrosion resistance and superior color consistency. Acu® coatings are environmentally friendly, offer superior color nish and are free of hexavalent chromates & silicates. Acu® coatings are free from any process that might induce hydrogen embrittlement related to heat treatment or cold-forming and they provide a consistent torque tension relationship without the need for post coating lubricants.

Features

• Available in any Pantone color

• Semi-gloss, consistent color tones

• Durable and tough

• Uniform coating thickness

• Low frictional coef cient

• Compatible with internal recess parts

• Dry surface

Bene ts

• Improved aesthetic appearance

• Resists damage from repeated handling or installations

• Helps control drive and seating torque tolerances

• Minimizes small drive recess coating residue problems

• Clean and dry - no oily residue or contaminants in work

area

Quality Solutions

This RoHS compliant, durable coating won’t rub off, blister

or peel making it perfect for electronic applications where

appearance is important. Mating plastic joint components

and bosses do not degrade due to fastener use in joint.

Corrosion results depend on base material and plating.

• Small, reliable fasteners for highly shock resistant

products

• Extremely clean screws for internal assembly of small-

fast high capacity disk drives

• Zero defect assembly and manufacturing processes

to optimize yield

• Faster assembly through automation and reduced

torque related line failures

• Globally available product

The unique lubricious characteristic of our Optia® coating

enables manufacturers to utilize the fasteners full strength

• Decreased k factor (torque coef cient or nut factor)

compared to uncoated fasteners provides higher clamp

force with less seating torque

• Reduced seating torque reduces strip out which

enables the use of low pro le heads

• 0.5m thin layer coating avoids recess ll and does not

require fastener tolerance adjustments

• Minimized debris generation

• Compliance with hazardous substances restrictions -

RoHS and WEEE

• Meets or exceeds Class 100 Clean Room requirements,

including:

Precision Springs

Springs are grouped into three basic types - Compression

Springs, Extension Springs and Torsion Springs.

Compression Springs work by exerting force against the

spring load. Compression Springs are found in computers

and peripherals, mobile phones and other consumer

electronics.

Extension Springs work by exerting force inward to bring

components together. Extension Springs are found in

computers and peripherals, mobile phones and other

consumer electronics.

Torsion Springs work by returning the rotational

components to their original position. Torsion Springs are

found in computers and peripherals, mobile phones and

other consumer electronics.

We provide a wide range of precision compression,

extension, torsion, wire form and flat springs. Wire

diameters range from ultra- ne 0.05mm to sizes up to

8mm. The smallest internal diameter is 0.1mm. Typical

materials used include carbon, piano, stainless steel,

beryllium copper, oil tempered and plated wire.

Pins & Shafts

Pins are used for multiple purposes such as a locator,

aligning and joining components.

Industrial pins such as dowel pins are used to prevent

motion or slippage. This is commonly found in machine

assembly and electronics components.

Shafts on the other hand are used as transfer rollers in

applications such as copiers, printers, fax machines and

scanners.

We design and supply a wide variety of engineered pins

and shafts. Depending on your application needs, these

products can be supplied in a range of materials such as

aluminum, brass, titanium, plastic, steel, stainless steel,

brass, copper, and alloys.
