Message from the Headteacher Key Values: Innovaon, Confidence, Aspiraon, Respect, Enthusiasm Dear Parents As we approach Christmas many of our thoughts turn towards family, presents and food for the fesve season. Without wanng to put a dampener on things, pupils in Years 11, 12 and 13 will need to spend a considerable amount of me preparing themselves for the mock exams which take place in January and February. Revising well for the mock exams lays the foundaon for solid exam success in the summer and takes away some of the pressure in the summer months. Please en- courage your child to spend at least a couple of hours a day preparing for the ex- ams. Pupils should have the necessary work and books to support their studies and there is a wealth of informaon online. Staff News We have three members of staff leaving us at the end of term. Miss Foreman, Head of English, is taking a career break to look aſter her young family; Mrs Brennan, Head of Geography, is moving to Pocklington School to be closer to home and Mrs Logan, who has been Head’s PA for thirteen years - both at Hull Grammar and Hull Collegiate - is going into part-me work and semi-rerement. I would like to thank all three for the hard work, me, energy and commitment they have given the school and we wish them well for the future. There will be further staff news in next week’s newsleer. Mrs Dunn, Director of External Relaons, also departs today for her maternity leave. We look forward to hearing news of her latest arrival over Christmas and to welcoming her back to school next September. On Tuesday, Tim Peake (Brish Astronaut) is joining the ISS (Internaonal Space Staon) - the first Brish astronaut to do so. Hull Colle- giate is taking part in an experiment comparing seeds which have been on the ISS with normal seeds. A number of schools are joining in (this will be a Trinity Term acvity for Year 7). The Internaonal Space Staon will be visible over Hull just before 18:00 on Christmas Eve. Christmas Jumper Day Fundraiser 18 December - a reminder Pupils and staff are invited to wear Christmas jumpers on the last day of term; a donaon of £1 per person is suggested. Pupils may also wear non- uniform with their jumper for a £2 donaon. Money raised from the day will be donated to The Hull Collegiate Trust. It was a real pleasure to listen to the school’s musical talent at the Senior Christmas Charity Concert last night; thank you to all the staff and pupils who made the event so special. I do hope that you will be able to join us on Wednesday next week as we celebrate the Christmas period with the Carol Service at Holy Trinity. RG 2015 Michaelmas Term No. 12 Newsleer 11.12.15

The December Ramble The final ramble of the year is on Sunday 20 December and we will “Wamble Wound Welton” starting from outside the Green Dragon at 10:00. It’s a lovely walk that I haven’t done for three years and it will be a healthy alternative to Christmas shopping (or an excuse not to go). It is just over six miles and we will be back at the pub by 12:30 for some Christmas spirit … you could even wear a Christmas hat like me. Santa Roper
