What is a HDTV?

• High Definition Televisions (HDTV) is a higher standard of television because the screen has sharper graphics and improved surround sound.

This is an example of an HDTV. This TV has sharper graphics than a ordinary TV.

What is the purpose of a HDTV?

• The purpose of a HDTV is to give the viewer a high quality viewing of TV programmes.

• The TV has better graphics than a standard definition TV.

Advantages of HDTV?

• Better picture quality due to higher resolution this means a wider screen makes the picture-quality more noticeable than a standard-sized one but overall is a better picture.

• The interlaced scanning technique used by HDTV will help improve the experience of the user.

• The sound quality is excellent resulting from the application of Dolby sound technology gives HDTV an added advantage.

Disadvantages of HDTV?

• Switching Delays: The blank screens can be caused due to authentication delays. There can also be screen flashing errors.

• Cost: HDMI cables are more expensive (per meter) than their analogue counterparts.
