About IEDC

IEDC: BIT is setup with the primary motive of encouraging entrepreneurship amongst the student community, and also polishing the burgeoning prodigies of tomorrow.

Vision

Help students to change lives and achieve dreams through Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Mission

• To promote students of BIT to become successful entrepreneurs by providing the opportunity, skill, knowledge, and resources needed for Idea Incubation.

• IEDC-BIT (Innovation and Entrepreneurs Development Center, Bangalore Institute of Technology) is working towards igniting young minds which creates an opportunity to change lives.

Functions

• IEDC shall work towards creating awareness of Entrepreneurship and nurturing Entrepreneurial activities in the institute. IEDC shall create an entrepreneurial ecosystem for promoting establishment of start-ups through its Incubation and Innovation center.

• The IEDC shall create an entrepreneurial culture in the institution by organizing various entrepreneurial activities like Entrepreneurship Motivation Camps, Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, and Entrepreneurship Development Programs.

• IEDC through its network center, shall strive to foster better linkages between industries and institutions engaged in promoting entrepreneurial activities.

IEDC: BIT help students generate new idea or with the Ideation process through various opportunities such as Interactive sessions, idea labs, webinars, etc. Ideas reach IEDC through community engagement programs, idea forums, nourishment of existing ideas, technical workshops, and student projects. Idea incubation is provided to every member of the Student community. The ideas are then

built and made to grow with the help of the alumni of BIT, Faculty and the Subject Matter Experts(SMEs) along with the team members of the IEDC. They are very well trained for the Entrepreneurial journey by giving them the necessary nourishment and knowledge. IEDC student chapter came into full force from the 3rd of April, 2018 with the help of Mr. Utkarsh Tiwari.

• IEDC: BIT Bangalore functions with the help of two major bodies- the faculty and the student body.

• As of August, 2020, IEDC: BIT has had an impact over 1500+ students in the community.

• Over 30+ ideas have been generated over the years. • We have had around 60+ students in the student body of IEDC and the team of 2020-

21 has 23 students who work towards the vision of IEDC.

IEDC Activities

Orientation of IEDC: BIT Student Chapter and Panel Discussion on “Entrepreneurship and Leadership”

We had Mr. R Gopinath Rao (Deputy Director of MSME-GOI), Mr. Suresh Babu (Founder One- Life Academy), Mr. Santosh G (General Secretary- CIMSME) and Mr. Siddharth Jain (Founder-Graffersid). This panel discussion aimed to spread awareness among the student community regarding entrepreneurship.

Two-Step Entrepreneur (Idea Generation)

The event was planned to instill the entrepreneurial spirit among the student community and to give a mock idea on how entrepreneurship works.

Stock Market

We had Mr. Vipin M K, Co-founder of ‘Inception’ and an author to conduct an informative seminar on different variations involved in the stock market.

Idea Lab

We had Dr. Shweta Singh, Founder & CEO of Ennoble IP & WIEF and an International Speaker Mr. Karl Lillrud, an Entrepreneur from Sweden and a TEDx Speaker. The purpose of Idea Lab was to achieve the first step towards the entrepreneurial journey, i.e., Ideation.

Brainstorm 1.0- Design Thinking

We had Mr. Rishabh Manot, Founder of Questerra to provide awareness and to enable the students to learn about Design Thinking, to understand the value, to have the confidence to bring it to the real world, and also to overcome pain points in technology & business industries.

Brainstorm 2.0- Business Model Canvas

We had Mr. Deepak Sahoo, IIT Madras Alumnus as the speaker whose aim was to enable the students to learn about the Business Model Canvas, see its values, and understanding the importance of it concerning the real world.

Brainstorm 3.0- Let’s Meet-up with Faculty

We had an interactive session with Mr. V S Giri, Chairman of IEDC with the budding entrepreneurs on how to make better use of engineering life as a student and the different strategies to keep in mind when starting a business.

Webinar on Building a next-gen SaaS product without writing a single line of code

We had Mr. Varun Choraria, 2x Entrepreneur, Author of "Miracle-preneuring", Speaker and a GTM professional as our Speaker. He conducted an interactive webinar for the budding entrepreneurs to have their own SaaS product using the tools available to them.

E’SUMMIT 2020

The Business Conclave

We had Mr. Mudasar Mohamed, Co-Founder and COO of Ezyhaul and an Alumnus of Bangalore Institute of Technology who gave us an insight into how entrepreneurship works from scratch.

The Innovative Conclave

We had Mr. Farrhad Acidwalla, Founder of Rockstah Media, 3x TEDx speaker, Influencer, and a lawyer by education who spoke about “Ideation and Innovation” and it’s importance in the entrepreneurial journey.

The Networking Conclave

We had Mr. Paras Pundir, Community Leader, and a TEDx speaker who gave us an insight into the importance of networking.

TRIDENT

We had Mr. Varun Choraria to helped us judge the event.It was the official competition of E’SUMMIT 2020 which had three phases:

* Phase 3: Growth and Scaling

Social Media Campaigns 1) ALUMNI ENTREPRENEURS: Giving visibility to the graduated engineers of BIT who have started their initiatives. • The Hudli Project by Adarsh • Gangtri Enterprises by Abhishek Beriwal

2) ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS: 3 episodes consisting of 5-9 slides which

gives basic insights to learn while endeavoring start-up journey • E1 : 5 Reasons how professionalism can help you become a better entrepreneur. • E2 : Finance basics every individual should know. • E3 : Stages of funding.

3) BITPRENEURS: Students of Bangalore Institute of Technology have create their own start-ups / initiatives which is given visibility in our social channels as to why was it launched. Innovations at IEDC

v BITpreneurs

Bangalore Institute of Technology has a fair share of new, emerging and well known start-ups to their credit. Here are a list of few:

• Nishitha Suresh- LIMEWOODS was started to provide herbal and personal care products at affordable prices and to encourage more of handcrafted products.

• Manasa- FLOSA was started as a way for customers to show appreciation to people in their life by simply sending them bouquet of flowers, chocolates to their doorstep.

• Kuzote Lohe- THE WALL is an online youth community where people come forward and tell their stories despite how small or big it is to create an impact and inspiration among the society.

v Innovative Projects

• Pragna Prashanth came up with an idea for a project which aimed to create an all-terrain Unmanned Ground vehicle (UGV) which provides a better visual, helps record videos and photos, and transmit it to the army base. Equipped with a micro FPV, infrared and motion detection camera, a GPS GSM module to send the location of the robot, this is a one stop solution to the problems faced by the Army.

• Sankalp Singh came up with an idea, the Talk App which aims to keep a track of your mental health throughout the day.

v Minimal Viable Products (MVPs) Developed

IEDC: BIT was able to generate 13 different ideas from various students participating in TRIDENT.These ideas along with the MVPs were put forth to us during the course of the event.

The ideas generated were:

• Primecare- Improving Primary Health Care • Den- Improving Primary Health Care • Quikash- Improving ATM experiences • Fat-Off- Workout plan for Clients in Gyms • Learnfreak- New ways you educate yourselves. • Cash Machine- Improving ATM experience • Tech Health+ - Improving Primary Health Care • Street-Con- Uber for street vendors • Comfortzone- Home automation • Precise- Improving Primary Health Care • Quit Easy- Helping smoker quit smoking • Umbrella- Improving car ownership experience • Career Design- Career guidance app

Upcoming Programs The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Bangalore Institute of Technology aims at instilling the ideas of Innovation and engraving entrepreneurship skills in the student community. Here is a list of programs that aims at doing just that.

• HACKATHON: Students are provided with an opportunity to innovate various inspiring business ideas. This acts as a gateway to entrepreneurship and to find great candidates for exploring entrepreneurship.

• INVESTOR V/S INVESTEE: Seminar covering the criteria for funding, what an investor looks in an investee before investing in their business and what an investee needs to stand out in the crowd to secure an investor.

• SEMINAR ON RISK MANAGEMENT: Every business venture regardless of economic climate, market conditions, and capitalization involves risks. Knowledge about the ways to mitigate these risks is what helps one be a successful entrepreneur.

• KNOW YOUR NUMBER- ENTREPRENEURIAL FINANCE: Everything you need to know about entrepreneurial finance, from funding contracts to resource allocation will be covered in this talk session.

• TALKS BY BIT ENTREPRENEURS: An interactive talk sessions by BIT’s very own entrepreneurs.

• BRAINSTROM SERIES: The brainstorm series is exclusive to BIT. It covers everything from talk sessions to innovative competitions to help the entrepreneur in you grow.

• SOFT SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS: Inculcating soft skills in oneself is of utmost importance. A training program will be conducted to impart soft skills in everyone.

• MOCK STOCK MARKET: Want to know how the stock market works? This session aims at giving a hands-on experience of it to the participants.
