INNOVATING THE SHOPPER EXPERIENCE | BUILDING LOYALTY THROUGH EXPERIENCE POWERED BY ATLANTA CITY IMMERSION MARCH 24-27, 2020 BUILDING LOYALTY THROUGH EXPERIENCE For years, the consumer experience was an afterthought for both retailers and brands. However, the impact of the digital age has disrupted the status quo by providing consumers with options that empower them. Now it is pertinent for brands and retailers to work together to create an experience consumers cannot get anywhere else. No one understands this more than the sports industry. Sports teams have found ways to continue to build loyalty with their fanbase by creating amazing experiences at their stadiums. We will be treated to insights from executives from all of the major pro teams in Atlanta including the Hawks, Braves, and Falcons. We also will learn how these teams are incorporating retail in their strategies around stadium design and how they view retail as an additive to their fan experience.

ATLANTA SESSIONS:The agenda for this immersion will tap into key innovation elements included in the following sessions:

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25Session 1: Great Brand and Retail ExperiencesTwo of the venues we visit will provide cutting-edge examples of how consumer experience can drive loyalty in retail. The third will be a brand example in the famous World of Coca Cola where executives from Coca Cola will share relevant insights from what is arguably the most iconic brand in the world today.

Session 2: Creating Digital ExperiencesHow can brands and retailers augment physical environments with great digital experiences? We will visit Google’s Atlanta headquarters and hear examples of some of the best current thinking in this area.

Session 3: University Community Event For this session hosted in The Garage at Georgia Tech, our group will be joined by key thinkers, academics, and entrepreneurs from the Atlanta community for some quick presentations on the future of retail and the critical role of experiences going forward. In addition to startup pitches, we will also hear from faculty members from several of Atlanta’s top universities on this topic.

Session 4: “Lifestyle” Environments Some real breakthrough thinking is occurring in various cities where developers, retailers, brands, and entrepreneurs have found that linking living, shopping, and entertainment can produce experiences and moments that really excite people (hey, there’s more to life than looking at our screens, right?). We will visit one such environment: Ponce Markets and the nearby Beltline to see how an entire neighborhood has been reinvented. We will have a tour, dinner, networking, and some fun.

THURSDAY, MARCH 26Session 5: Building “Fanatic” Loyalty“Lateral thinking” spurs innovation by allowing us to look at our own businesses with new eyes. This session will take place within the Atlanta Braves superb new ballpark at The Battery and take a look at how sports drive loyalty. We will have speakers and panelists from the Braves and Atlanta’s other professional teams to help us answer key questions retailers are asking today: “How do you acquire new fans?” (in our case shoppers), and “How do you keep current ones?”

Session 6: New (and Old) Media and Experiences This session will be held in the glittering new southern headquarters of one of the world’s largest media companies, Comcast. Inside this venue, Comcast has created an in-house accelerator called The Farm where startups funded by the company are housed and who are creating new media, communications, and entertainment experiences. We will hold our session in The Farm, which will be one of the most interesting start-up venues Retail Tomorrow has ever visited, and hear from a few startups.
