About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is among the oldest healing practices in the world.  It involves placing very fine needles at specific locations on the body, which stimulates the internal healing mechanisms in the nervous system muscles and connective tissue. Western practitioners believe acupuncture regulates the body’s endocrine functions, releases endorphins that inhibit pain, increases circulation, enhances the body’s immune function and changes the way the brain perceives pain.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has shown it to be an effective treatment for many diseases, symptoms or conditions:

Allergic rhinitis (including hay fever) Biliary colic Dysentery, acute bacillary Dysmenorrhoea, primary Epigastralgia, acute (in peptic ulcer, acute

and chronic gastritis, and gastrospasm) Facial pain (including craniomandibular

disorders) Hypotension, primary

Induction of labor Leukopenia Malposition of fetus, correction Morning sickness Periarthritis of shoulder Postoperative pain Renal colic Sprain
