Idea 1 - Content• This document will be an investigation on students with special needs that may need any form

of support from teachers and the crave for sports. These students can be under any form of learning disabilities such as Dyslexia and any symptom that considers them SEN students. I hope to contain an interview with a parent who’s child suffers from learning disabilities and get their view on how hard it may or may not be caring to their child needs. With that, I will also potentially get a conversation with a student with the condition allowing me to understand how they cope with their issue and how it affects their life. Finally, I will try to get a passage from the teachers of the student and have them explain why supporting these kind of students is so important. This document will be called, special needs – the importance of supporting us all.

• I will explore whether more sporting activities are beneficial for SEN students as they aren’t focusing much in their lessons. Teachers always question whether the students are studying the correct things; investigating sports may help me and schools realize what is a good sense of relief for these students

• Ideally, I believe it will be good for me to get a view/voxpop from a student who doesn’t suffer under the condition and how they emphasize with the student. This could be a passage given from a friend or general classmate.

Archive

• I will attempt to find archive footage of successful individuals who are victims to these issues:

• Mohammed Ali, Magic Johnson, Carl Lewishttp://www.ranker.com/list/famous-people-with-

dyslexia/celebrity-lists• I will relate this to the story by announcing the

fact that this doesn’t disable them from achieving anything.

Target Audience• The documentary hasn’t got a particular target audience. This is because this is more

observational and can fall into a number of audiences. The audiences for this documentary will be:- Parents who have children that suffer from the same condition. I believe this is a

target audience as some parents may need support in coping with the challenge their child has. With this, it may encourage a parent to continue supporting their child if they realize that there’s others coping with this and they will be able to see how people with the condition go about their life surviving with the condition. Parents will be able to retrieve good help from this if they are able to acknowledge the fact that there is help around for the to use in order to keep their child safe and able.

- As a secondary audience, new schools in particular could be an audience for this documentary as they may not have taken in a student with educational needs. I think this will be beneficial to them as they will be able to be prepared to help the student. With this, they may now be aware of alternatives they could offer to help their students in their education.

Page 6: Initial 4 pitches

Mode of Address• It will address the subject to the audience in a formal way. Being slow paced

and informative will allow the audience to focus on what is being said and potentially sympathies with the speaker and the subject.

• As this is predominately views from two leads, their will be a clear juxtaposition between casts. The older speaker will be in their own clothes presenting their age allowing the audience to acknowledge they are quite mature whereas the potential young audience will still be in their uniform allowing the audience to understand the speaker is young whilst dealing with his/hers issue.

• I will be presenting this documentary however I wont be present in every shot as the audience will need to focus primarily on the speaker delivering their point. With this, documentaries generally don’t include the interviewer allowing the speaker to be the main subject without being jarred with what's on the screen. This will benefit the audience as they’ll be pleased with the visuals.

Page 7: Initial 4 pitches

Style

• This documentary would be narrated in the traditional manner of a story. This will involve a typical introduction, investigation and conclusion. This will allow the audience to be guided through what is happening. There isn’t a story to the documentary other than what the speaker is saying. If I am able to get various speakers on their views, the documentary is likely to be cross-cutting between casts delivering their views on the topic.

Page 8: Initial 4 pitches

Conventions• The conventions going to be used in the documentary will be:• Graphics – this will be Astons and credits letting you know the people

involved in the creation of my project• Interview/voxpop – this is necessary to help push forward my story, this will

allow the story to be more realistic. Its hard to push a story across without the story being told.

• Music – this has to be relatable to the subject and ensure the audience aren’t distracted by the audio. Being non-diegetic, it’ll be best if I keep the music low so it isn’t over powering the voice of the speaker.

• Diegetic Sound – this is dialogue and any sounds the speaker can hear. This may involve the environment and any outside activity happening around him. This will allow the story to seem more natural rather than staged.

• Cutaways – this will be presentations of children/adults playing.

Page 9: Initial 4 pitches

Purpose

• The purpose of the documentary is to inform people on a matter they are unaware on due to simply not having the needs of other students. If other students can gain information on how SEN students cope with their issue, other students should be able to relate and schools may discover, offering more sports maybe best for their students.

Page 10: Initial 4 pitches

Length

• I will attempt to push my documentary to 5 minutes however I will cap it at 15 minutes if I’m able to get enough footage. This will allow me to offer as much information as possible to the audience.

Page 11: Initial 4 pitches

Research• Primary• Focus group – had people who was helped by sport and peoples who

enjoy the subjects like P.E. and could sympathize/relate to people wanting more time to play sports.

• People discussed that Sport helped them in developing their social skills and believed that sport is underrated.

• “I feel comfortable and gain a sense of peace when I’m not sitting down in the classroom. Books, computers an teachers become too much to consume and digest when its for such a long period of time a day.”

• Secondary – I will research archive footage I could use within the documentary allowing it to be more informative.

Page 12: Initial 4 pitches

Idea 2 - Content

• This documentary will be a participant lead documentary. This documentary will be lead by individual who aspires to become basketball player. Here I will explore the challenges he faced trying to get basketball practices within his environment to the upcoming league he is due to enter with his team. This will involve regular training sessions and regular cut scenes demonstrating his passion for the sport. This documentary will be called my aspirations

Page 13: Initial 4 pitches

Target Audience• The target audience is for sports players who may have the same issue of

not being able o find a team or get any time to play basketball. Primarily the age boundary for this documentary will be for males aged 16-19 of no particular ethnicity. This has a niche audience due to the cast lead and the age that our cast will be.

• The secondary audiences I’ve decided to appoint this documentary at is parents of children who are involved in sports. Being young in this current age and generation, children have developed the idea to not communicate with their parents o what they aspire to be. I believe a parent could relate to a documentary if they notice their child is very into sports. From here the documentary can raise awareness of the fact that their child doesn’t play that sport as a hobby and actually wants to gain much more from the sport; which then allows the parent(2) to aid that support and encouragement.

Page 14: Initial 4 pitches

Mode of Address

• This documentary will be addressed in a neutral atmosphere. As I’m not exploring a negative story, I wont need to involve any serious soundtracks or general and typical non-diegetic sounds used in films/projects with negative or detrimental incidents.

• With this, the non dietetic soundtracks used will be able to relate to the young target audience I am intending to reach allowing them to be intrigued more into the documentary.

Page 15: Initial 4 pitches

Style• As it is a neutral observational documentary, this documentary

will again involve simple cross-cutting between shots allowing the project to be realistic and simple. There wont be a formal aspect to this as there isn’t really a structured interview to the documentary.

• The casts outfit will be mostly sport convenient attires allowing the audience to constantly acknowledge what the documentary is going to be about. If the cast isn't presented in sporting items (hoodies, jogging bottoms, shorts) they’ll be in casual outgoing clothes that allow the audience to recognize he is just like everyone else. These can be jeans, t-shirts and a normal jacket.

Page 16: Initial 4 pitches

Conventions• The conventions I will use:• Voxpop/public views: presentations of team members or people who

are fans of the sport. Can show whether they believe sports is necessary to all communities.

• Interview/confession: participant lead able to express his feelings directly to the audience. This allows the information he expresses about his life is accurate and reliable as its first hand evidence.

• Cutaways – of cast playing basketball, basketball courts possible extra activities taken place during conversations we have with experts or members of the public

• Graphics – Astons, credits• Diegetic dialogue• Non-diegetic Music

Page 17: Initial 4 pitches

Purpose• The purpose of the documentary is to allow people to see the

limitations students have in gaining things they want to achieve, such as simple time on the court. We will acknowledge how there isn’t much locations people can go to play sports. This documentary will allow the audience to interpret the story in any way and see what life is like through the participants eyes.

• I want to make this documentary to allow the publics voice to be heard. People without the dreams such as our participant wouldn’t understand the challenges people like himself face; this may benefit him and the rest of the people suffering to achieve what they want.

Page 18: Initial 4 pitches

Length

• This documentary will be at least 5 minutes. This running time will allow me to involve all the views from a range of people and involve all scenes relevant to the story without tiring anyone out.

Page 19: Initial 4 pitches

Research• Interviewed cast member on what he would want in the documentary which will

portray him the best way. This will allow me to explore the documentary in the best way possible.. Here we discussed locations, practices and additional scenes needed to be added to the documentary.

• In observation, I also travelled to a basketball training session which I took part in which aloud me to see how many people attended the session. Here communicating with these attendees, I was able to see what they intend to gain from playing basketball. Here I was able to notice how many people actually want to achieve from playing basketball and found out that many players like my participant has the same dreams.

• Secondary research will conducted in the same form as the questionnaire. I will look online for courts to play.

• https://www.yelp.co.uk/search?find_desc=Indoor+Basketball+Court&find_loc=London - Yelp couldn’t find any courts however, presented us with fitness locations such as gyms and parks.

• https://www.courtsoftheworld.com/United-Kingdom/London - This website

Idea 3 - Content

• This documentary will be about how industrialized our environment have become. Here I will gain views, interpretations and beliefs of others on what they believe is happening now and in the future. Here I will also explore whether people believe this limited space of freedom between buildings and houses are good for the environment or whether people haven't had any thought of it.

Page 22: Initial 4 pitches

Target audience• The target audience is for males and females of no

particular age boundary who are preferably in a position who run constructions or order the action of building works. This is because they will have the power to listen and make a difference better for the younger generation. People in these positions will be blind to what detrimental or positive actions are caused from these actions; being able to hear the thoughts from others will benefit them.

Page 23: Initial 4 pitches

Mode of Address

• I will address this idea in formal and simplistic way. I will be addressing this idea as it is covering a serious topic. This will allow the project to be delivered clearly.

Page 24: Initial 4 pitches

Style

• This is a investigative documentary that allows both me and the audience to be informed of the views believed by the public.

Page 25: Initial 4 pitches

Conventions• Cutaways of buildings in construction. Abandoned buildings

showing that the buildings built aren’t even in use and are just taking up space.

• Music- this is non diegtic sounds allowing the project to be supported and keep the audience intrigued in the sequence.

• Grphics: Astons

• Voxpop: Public opinions and interpretations of the topic• Sound : diegetic sounds such as dialogue allowing the

information to be delivered directly to the audience.

Page 26: Initial 4 pitches

Purpose

• The purpose of this is to inform the world on what effect they are causing on the environment. I want to produce this document because I am affected from it just as much as other, and I believe if we speak on it, we might be able to make a change.

Page 27: Initial 4 pitches

Length

• This documentary will be at a minimum of 5 minutes allowing me to inform the audience on what is necessary for their knowledge. This gives me enough time to gain views from a range of audiences which will allow my project to not seem biased. Having more views received will allow the range of results to potentially be balanced.

Page 28: Initial 4 pitches

Research• I conducted a little questionnaire discussing what people think of my

idea and what they believed was going on in their environment.• People frequently described their surrounding as a “Claustrophobic”

environment.

• Secondary research conducted allowed me to find a article published by Daily mail on the future of London. Here they explored how many tall buildings were currently in London and that they believe the growth f its landscape will continue.

Page 29: Initial 4 pitches

Idea 4 - Content

• In this documentary I will be exploring the way younger girls are wearing make up more and more. Here I will explore the publics views on young girls using make up and questioning why they believe girls are using it. I will attempt to raise questions such as “is Make up being exploited?”.

Page 30: Initial 4 pitches

Target audience

• The target audience for this documentary will be for the topic of my of the project, young girls of no specific ethnicity. This is because this project may potentially influence them on their decisions. A lot of schools dislike the idea of girls over using make up allowing this topic to be explored better.

Page 31: Initial 4 pitches

Mode of address• I will address this idea in neutral and simplistic

way. I will be addressing this idea this way, as it is covering a considerably serious topic. This will allow the project to be delivered clearly.

• Non-diegetic sounds will be delivered in the sequence. This choice of song has to related to the topic and ensure that the audience isn’t focused more on the soundtrack than what is being said by the speaker.

Page 32: Initial 4 pitches

style• this is ultimately an investigative and

observational documentary were I look into the views of the public. As it isn't involving any views or visuals of myself, their isn’t a appointed presenter. This will allow my documentary to immediately get to the point allowing the views to be immediately heard.

Page 33: Initial 4 pitches

conventions

• Cutaways – girls with and without makeup; images of girls modeling with makeup;

• Graphics – these will consist of Asonts, titles of the project.

• Diegetic sound – dialogue , sounds that are heard by the speaker

• Non – diegetic music• Editing: cross-cutting

Page 34: Initial 4 pitches

Purpose

• The purpose of this document is to raise awareness of the actins young girls are taking. This could potentially attract the attention of parents allowing their child to wear make up at a young age and could potentially notice the negative or positive interpretation the public have on young girls.

• I am to figure out whether girls are being perceived well.

Page 35: Initial 4 pitches

Length• This documentary will be at the minimum of 5 minutes

allowing me to be able to include all relevant points to the story. Here ill be able to include the necessary cutaways to help support view s of the audience and include views from girls who wear makeup their selves. 5 minutes seem like the most reasonable time as the topic isn't too much engaging for an audience. Being opinion based, there isn't much for me to explore in this topic; this is why I believe the documentary shouldn't run over 5-8 minutes. I wouldn’t want to bore the audience.

Page 36: Initial 4 pitches

Research

• A questionnaire was produced on what people believe is acceptable for make up

With this, the average response received from the audience believed that young girls wearing makeup wasn’t acceptable. This possibly indicates that this documentary will end up being pretty much one sided and potentially biased.

This person has believed girls have “exploited” makeup declaring makeup is becoming too common

Page 37: Initial 4 pitches

Research

• Primary – I then observed and collected the views received from people I’ve talked to. Excluding my own opinion, I’ve discovered that this argument is one sided. Many people of the public are against the topic of girls wearing it and a brief summary to the different views of it this is what I’ve discovered.

• 60% - against young girls wearing makeup• 20% - against wearing make up at all• 20% - didn’t have an opinion but understand the

arguments people make being against it
