CONTENT The aim of this course is to understand the fundamental principles of lean production/management, to gain the skill of applying lean production tools and methods, to understand the properties of an environment that facilitates continuous improvement. The topics that are studied in this course are the evolution of lean thinking, concept of wastes, lean production methods, value stream mapping and process analysis, cellular manufacturing and its management, push and pull systems, small lot production, analysis and reduction of set up times (SMED), total preventive/productive maintenance, uniform flow and mixed-model scheduling, syncronizing and balancing production process.
