Orchard Road

Bras Basah Area

Take a walk around Marina Bay, one of Singapore’s most spectacular areas. Start your journey from Suntec City (the starting point for all 4 routes) and walk along the F1 racing track. Walk up the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and you will reach Marina Bay Sands. From here you can either head to Gardens By the Bay or the Merlion Park where you must not miss out on the chance to take a picture with the iconic Merlion! Continue your walk along the Jubilee Bridge and you will reach the Esplanade. From here, you can hop onto the bus at Esplanade Stop (Stop No.2 of the blue line and Stop No.2 of the brown line).

Marina Bay Sands (Stop No.3 of the yellow line) Housing the world-renowned Sands SkyPark, an infinity pool, celebrity chef restaurants, theatres, an indoor ice-skating rink and luxury retail brands, Marina Bay Sands is a must-visit for every tourist to Singapore. Don’t leave without catching Southeast Asia’s largest light and water show held every night. Show details: Free, Sun-Thu at 8pm and 9.30pm, Fri & Sat at 8pm, 9.30pm and 11pm.

Singapore Flyer (Stop No.2 of the yellow line or Stop No.15 of the brown line) The Singapore Flyer, one of Asia’s largest observation wheels, is the best place to take in the amazing view of Singapore’s magnificent cityscape. Besides that, there are many other activities there like an exciting 4D Theater experience, a relaxing Kenko Fish Spa and the Singapore Food Trail that is full of delicious local delicacies.

Esplanade (Stop No.2 of the blue or brown line) Esplanade was chosen as one of the 15 most beautiful concert halls in the world. It is one of only five such halls in the world with similar state-of-the-art features, which include reverberation chambers, and an acoustic canopy that modifies the hall to produce optimum sound. Join a guided tour to discover surprises about the Esplanade or catch the many free performances!

This is a quaint little area filled with quirky shops, trendy cafes and graffiti walls, which make great photo backdrops. Hop off at Village Hotel Bugis (Stop No.4 of the red line) and walk towards Haji Lane, which is a tiny lane filled with cute shops. Be sure to look out for obscure doorways between these shops with staircase leading to the shops on the upper levels as well! Right next to Haji Lane is Arab Street (Stop No.5 of the red line), home to lovely traditional shops selling silk, Persian rugs, batik and even organic perfumes.

Here you will also find the golden domes of the Sultan Mosque, a major landmark and congregation point for Muslims. Walk along Kandahar Street to the Malay Heritage Centre, once the residence of the Sultan of Singapore.

Check out Baghdad Street for their monthly weekend market called So Gelam Market where you can find artisanal products, performances and traditional games. Check out their Instagram or Facebook page @sogelammarket for the latest updates.

There are several beautiful post-colonial buildings in Singapore that are worth a visit. Situated at the old Supreme Court and City Hall building, the newest addition to the museum scene in Singapore is the National Gallery Singapore (Stop No.14 of the brown line). From there, you can walk over to the Victoria Theatre and Asian Civilisations Museum to catch a glimpse of their exquisite architecture. The statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, the famed founder of Singapore, is right in front of the Victoria Theatre.

Make your way to Armenian Street where you can find the Singapore Philatelic Museum and the Peranakan Museum. Next, head towards Stamford Road to visit the National Museum of Singapore (Stop No.3 of the blue line) and the Singapore Art Museum. Complete your walk at CHIJMES - once a Catholic convent and quarters, now home to many restaurants, cafes and bars.

A trip to Orchard Road is not complete without visiting shopping malls such as Wisma Atria, Ngee Ann City (Takashimaya) and Paragon.

This shop fuses art and design into a curated retail experience spanning books, design collectibles and prints, homeware, fashion, and children’s products that you will definitely want to take home!

If you have just less than a day to explore the area, we recommend that you walk on the side of Orchard Road where ION Orchard is. On weekends, you will see buskers on the wide pavement, which adds to the bustling and joyful atmosphere of shoppers in anticipation of the next great find.
