PROPOSALS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 24, 11:59PM (EST).
Just to be clear…
AECT PROPOSAL TYPES
Proposals that fit all the session types are welcomed: • Concurrent Session (30 min., 2 per hour) • Roundtable Session (60 min., 5 per hour) • Poster Session (typically 60 min.)
• Panel Sessions (typically 60 min.)
PANEL PROPOSALS
In the proposal abstract, be sure to explain 1. The purpose of the panel 2. Who will be participating 3. What expertise they bring to this panel
I recommend using an appendix to present additional information for each participant. This will most likely go over the word limits. The RTD Board are the ones reviewing these directly, so we would rather have more information than not.
PANEL PROPOSALS
The purpose of this panel is present a variety of perspectives and contexts on how mobile computing devices are being implemented in K-12 and higher education. Six panelists will briefly present their experiences with projects aimed to integrate mobile computing devices and application (app) development with courses, technology integration, teaching and learning, K-12 schools, and undergraduate and graduate courses. After the panel presents their initial experiences, audience members will be able to contribute their own experiences with mobile teaching and learning. In addition, audience members will be able to ask questions, invite recommendations, and request additional details from the panel members. Discussion and conversation will continue with the remaining time.
The participants who have agreed to participate in this panel are listed below. In addition to the following list of panelists, each participant has provided a brief biography, short descriptions of their projects with mobile computing devices, and a list of relevant presentations and publications. Additional materials are offered in an appendix.
Participants
• Michael M. Grant, Associate Professor, University of Memphis (Panel Leader) • Michael K. Barbour, Assistant Professor, Wayne State University • Hui-Yin Hsu, Associate Professor, New York Institute of Technology • Yu-Chang Hsu, Assistant Professor, Boise State University • Florence Martin, Assistant Professor, UNC-Wilmington • Shiang-kwei Wang, Associate Professor, New York Institute of Technology • Cindy York, Assistant Professor, Northern Illinois University

GUIDELINES FOR ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS
http://aectorg.yourwebhosting.com/events/Call/guidelines.asp?
I recommend creating a word processing document with all of the proposal submission criteria for each proposal: • All authors’ names, email, institutions • Proposal title • Short description • Abstract • Session length • Category of session (proposal type)
RTD CATEGORIES
Category 1: Completed Study • Report findings from a study that is complete. Category 2: Work in Progress • Report the progress of a study currently
underway Category 3: Research Methodology • Report innovative research methodologies in the
field. Category 4: Theory • Report on theory pertinent to the field.
RTD CATEGORIES CONT’D
When submitting your proposal, please state in the abstract (not the short description) which category you are submitting your work. For example, • "This proposal reports a Completed Study
(Category 1) ...”
• "This proposal reports a Work in Progress (Category 2) ..."
• "This proposal reports on Research Methodologies (Category 3) ..."
• "This proposal reports on theory pertinent to the field (Category 4) ..."
REVIEW PROCESS
1. Request reviewers >> Google Form 2. Graduate Students as reviewers
• You are volunteering for reviews for each separate division & not AECT as a whole.
3. Reviews are assigned • Reviewed by 3 individuals • Typically have about 1 month to
complete reviews within the All Academic system.

FEATURED RESEARCH
Just a heads-up/notice here… We are in the process of adjusting the submission procedures for the “Featured Research” in the AECT conference.
I anticipate that in addition to specific “Featured Research” proposal submissions, we will also be asking divisions to recommend proposals to RTD for consideration as featured research at the conference.
FINAL TIPS FOR SUBMISSIONS
1. Be sure to respond directly to the sections of the RFP. 2. Don’t forget to identify which RTD category you are
proposing in your proposal.
3. Works in progress are limited to Roundtables and Poster sessions.
4. We are encouraging submissions for “Category 3: Research Methods” and “Category 4: Theory.”
5. Don’t be “afraid” to submit to RTD.
6. Deadline for submissions is February 24, 11:59PM (EST), 2014.
QUESTIONS? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! I’LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE AT THIS TIME. MICHAEL M. GRANT, PH.D. [email protected] | @michaelmgrant
