A. MEETING INFORMATION DATE AND VENUE OF THE MEETING 1. The High Level Meeting for Coordinated Implementation of International Standards for Macroeconomic Statistics will be held on 3-4 September, 2014 on the premises of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) campus, Vladivostok, Russian Federation.

2. The meeting will be opened at 09h00 hours on Wednesday, September the 3rd, 2014 in the meeting room “Morskoy”. Subsequent sessions of the meeting will be held from 09h00.

REGISTRATION AND IDENTIFICATION BADGES 3. Participants are requested to register and obtain meeting badges at the registration counter, located in front of the meeting room “Morskoy” at FEFU campus, at 08h30 on September 3rd, 2014.

MEETING DOCUMENTS 4. Participants are requested to bring with them copies of the meeting documents prepared by the ESCAP secretariat prior to the meeting. The documents will be uploaded on the meeting website, as they become available at http://www.unescap.org/events/high-level-meeting-coordinated-implementation-international-standards-macroeconomic. Only a limited number of copies of such documents may be printed during the meeting. INTERNET

5. Free wireless internet access will be available in the hotel rooms and in the meeting room “Morskoy”. Participants may bring their own notebooks to access such services and prepare any inputs during the meeting.

INTERPRETATION AND VISUAL AID 6. The working languages of the meeting are English and Russian. Simultaneous interpretation in English and Russian will be provided. Equipment for PowerPoint presentations will also be provided.

Visa applications should be submitted well in advance to the respective Embassy/Consulate in the country of residence. AIRLINE RESERVATIONS

7. Many international airlines operate regular services to and from Vladivostok.

Participants will be provided with the most economical round trip air tickets by UNESCAP according to UN rules and regulations. Ms. Rattana Duangrapruen ([email protected]) will contact all participants directly.

TRANSPORT FROM AND TO AIRPORT 8. Transfer from the airport to the hotel will be organized by the host organisation – Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation. More detailed information will be provided to each participant according to the flight schedule.

Participants should send the details of arrival and departure to Mr. Mikhail Gundarev ([email protected]) as soon as possible but no later than one week prior to arrival. These measures are necessary to ensure the timely organization of the airport pick-up. ACCOMMODATION ON THE PREMISES OF FEFU CAMPUS 9. The hotel located at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University has been designated as recommended with the preferential rate of single room around USD 119 (inclusive of VAT and breakfast). Hotel reservations will be made by ESCAP for all participants. Details of the arrangements will be communicated in due course. ESCAP will settle the bills for sponsored participants directly with the hotel (excluding personal expenditures, please see sections 10&11 for more details). PAYMENT OF HOTEL ACCOUNTS 10. Before departure from Vladivostok participants are expected to settle directly with the hotel all accounts, including room charges and other expenses, such as for local and long-distance telephone calls, business center use, laundry, hotel transportation services, mini-bar items, as well as restaurant and bar services. Participants are also responsible for any charges incurred with respect to rooms remaining vacant owing to late arrival or rescheduled departure for which inadequate prior notice is given. The hotel accepts cash and debit/credit cards. Cash payments must be in Russian Rubles.

11. Normal check-in and check-out time at the hotel is at 12h00 noon. Early check-in (from midnight to noon) and late check-out (from 14h00) may be pre-arranged upon request and will be charged at full room rate to be paid by participants.

DAILY SUBSISTENCE ALLOWANCE (DSA) (only if applicable) 12. Participants whose travel is sponsored by ESCAP will be provided with a daily subsistence allowance for the duration of the meeting at prevailing United Nations rates. 100 % DSA will be provided by ESCAP secretariat during the meeting, subject to submission of passport copies, original boarding passes, and air tickets to the secretariat staff.

13. Any participants who are unable to stay for the duration of the meeting are requested to inform the secretariat as soon as possible after arrival, so that the subsistence allowance can be adjusted accordingly.

FINANCIAL & ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS (only if applicable) 14. In those cases where the participation costs are borne by the ESCAP secretariat, the secretariat will provide only travel and DSA as expressed and will not assume responsibility for any other expenditure, including the following:

(i) All expenses in the home country incidental to travel abroad, including expenditure for visa, medical examination, inoculations and other such miscellaneous items and internal travel to and from the airport of arrival and departure in the home country;

(ii) Salary and related allowances for the participants during the period of the meeting;

(iii) Costs incurred by participants in respect of travel insurance, accident insurance, medical bills or hospitalization fees in connection with attending the meeting;

(iv) Compensation in the event of death or disability of participants in connection with attending the meeting;

(v) Any loss of or damage to personal property of participants while attending the meeting or losses or damages claimed by third parties as a result of any negligence on the part of the participants;

(vi) Any other expenses of a personal nature, not directly related to the purpose of the meeting.

Climate: Vladivostok has a monsoon influenced humid continental climate. Summers are warm, humid and rainy, due to the East Asian monsoon. Autumn is rather warm and the amount of precipitation gradually drops with the beginning of winter. In September the temperature in Vladivostok usually varies from 14 to 20 degrees Celsius. Time: GMT+11 Smoking: In accordance with the law of the Russian Federation smoking is prohibited in public places, outdoor eating areas, dormitories and hotels. Banking services: ATMs are available on the premises of FEFU campus at Sberbank office. Currency: The local currency is “Russian ruble” (RUB). Dollar exchange rate is about 36 RUB. Services for foreign exchange are available from 10.00 – 16.30 at the Sberbank campus office, at the airport and downtown. Most hotels and shops accept major credit cards, including Visa and Mastercard. International calls: For international calls, please dial: 8 + 10 + country code + dialed number. Emergency number: 101 – fire emergency; 102 – police; 103 – ambulance service, 112 – common emergency number. Electricity: Voltage of the alternating current comprises 220 V with 50 Hz frequency.
