the reformation, which is symbolically considered to have started in 1517, when the monk Martin Lu-ther nailed his 95 famous Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church, had a huge impact on the history of the New Era. Religious movement, which spread throughout Europe in the 16th cen-tury, sought for the renewal of the Catholic Church.

the postage stamp marking bilateral cooperati on between Lithuania and Israel was released on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomati c relati ons with the state of israel. A contest for students of the vilnius Art Academy was held for designing this postage stamp. According to Amir Maimon, Israeli ambassador in vilnius, the re-lease of this postage stamp gives meaning to a close and bilateral cooperati on between Lithuania and is-rael. Bilateral relati ons with the state of israel have been developed since 8 January 1992.

the Lithuanian knight known as vytis is one of the oldest state coats of arms in Europe. the image of the knight vytis was used in state flags, coins and stamps. According to chroniclers of the 16th century, vytis por-trayed in the coat of arms of the state sym-bolizes a mature ruler capable of defending his homeland with his sword. The postage stamps commemorate images of vytis used from the ancient times (the end of the 14th century - beginning of the 18th century) till the period of indepen-dent Republic of Lithuania (3rd - 4th de-cade of the 20th century).

this is a common postage stamp of the vatican City State and Lithuania released to commemorate 600th anniversary of the establishment of Diocese of Žemaitija (Medininkai), marking the official Christianisation of the last european region. Only a part of Lithuania was christened at the end of the 14th century. Since the Teutonic Order claimed the western part of the country - Žemaitija (samogitia), efforts of the Lithuanian rulers Jogaila and vytautas allowed achieving peaceful Christianisation of samogitian lands without conquering them. in 1417, the diocese of Žemaitija was established in the Lithuanian region, which had stayed pagan the longest, by the decision of the meeting of the Constance Church, which was approved by the pope Martynas v elected in the meeting. this event ended the Lithuania’s integration into the Christian family of european countries which was started with the baptism of Mindaugas.

Kazys Bradūnas (1917–2009) is one of the best known Lithuanian poets of the 20th century be-longing to the famous wartime generation of stu-dents, who were tossed from Lithuania, lost in partisan battles, doomed to die in the siberian taiga. According to literary specialists, K. Bradūnas emerges as an eyewitness of fates of this genera-tion, having remained faithful thereto all his life. K. Bradūnas released nearly two dozen collections of poetry in total.

100th anniversary of restoration of the state of Lith-uania, which will be commemorated on the 16th of February of 2018, is an exclusive anniversary. It marks the start of the creation of history of inde-pendent democratic state of Lithuania, the first de-cisive step in the current modern state of Lithuania.the series of commemorative postage stamps “100 years of restoration of the state of Lithuania” cap-tures the birth of the democratic state of Lithuania: from the first buds of the statehood, which mani-fested via the Lithuanian word preserved during years of oppression (with prohibition of the press abolished on 7 May 1904), till the formation of the idea of independent state in the Great Seimas of vilnius (4-5 of December of 1905) and vilnius Con-ference (18-22 of September of 1917).
