What is Anam Cara House Geelong?Anam Cara House Geelong is a non-denominational community service providing care for people affected by life limiting illness.

Aims of Anam Cara House Hospice • To provide a safe, comfortable

and welcoming environment and accommodation for people with a life limiting illness who are living in Geelong and the surrounding district.

• A place for palliative care guests to come and enjoy a range of activities, education, and relaxation.

• To provide Respite for Carers’.

• Health promotion and improved quality of life for guests.

Who will be there?The hospice is managed by an experienced Palliative Care Specialist Div 1 nurse who is supported by specially trained palliative care volunteers.

The group is small, with up to ten guests attending each day.

2. Personal items such as walking frame, wheelchair and continence aids will need to be brought in with you.

3. We will require emergency contacts and instructions should you become unwell.

4. Meals and refreshments are provided. Please let us know of any special dietary needs, prior to attending.

5. An open mind and a sense of humour and ideas about what we can do!

We’d love to meet you, come and try!If you are a little unsure about trying us out, we invite you and your carer/s to come in and have a cuppa with us. (Please ring and let us know first) That way you can meet us, ask questions and get an idea of the place without feeling any pressure to stay.

• Nursing assessment, symptom management and clinical care including hygiene, pain assessment and wound care

We are aware of how much energy levels fluctuate, and therefore we have some fantastic recliner chairs where you are encouraged to rest and sleep if you need to.

What do I bring?1. You must bring all medication you will

need, including breakthrough medication. NO medications are kept on the premises.
