Basics of word processing, spreadsheet management and presentation creation

1. Question 1 25 points

a. Advertisement 14 points

Create the one-page real estate advertisement shown in the example. The files needed to complete the exercise: text.txt, photo.png. Save your work in the default format of the word processor under the name advertisement.

1. Using the word processing programme, open the UTF-8 encoded text.txt text file.

2. The document’s page orientation should be portrait, with a page size of A4. Set the margins to 3 cm.

3. Make the following general settings which relate to the whole of the text. − Use only Times New Roman (Nimbus Roman) fonts in the document. − Set the text's font size to 11.5 points. − The line spacing of paragraphs should be 1.1. − Set paragraph indent from the left and the right to 0 cm, and first lines should begin

0.5 cm in. − The text alignment should be justified (where the exercise does not require

something else). − Set spaces in front of and after paragraphs to 0 points.

4. Set the heading font size to 18 points, font colour to white, and font style to bold. Align the title to the centre of the burgundy (colour code RGB(127,0,0)) band. Set the beginning and the end of the band 2 cm from both the right and the left margin.

5. Set a space of 6 points (0.21 cm) in front of the heading and a space of 18 points (0.63 cm) after.

6. Insert the photo.png image to the top of the text below the title, and align it to the right. Resize the inserted image to a height of 4 cm while retaining the aspect ratio, and add a burgundy (colour code RGB(127,0,0)), 6 points thick border around the image.

7. The settings of the paragraph containing the asking price should be identical to the settings of the heading.

8. Apply a two-column, identical width setting for the texts containing the characteristics and the contact information. Set a vertical separation line to be displayed between the columns.

9. The first columns should begin with the text “Characteristics”, while the second column with the text ”Contact information”.

10. Align the “Characteristics” and ”Contact information” texts in 4.5 cm wide, un-indented bands each, 0.5 cm to the left from the left side of the bands. Set the band colour to match the burgundy of the heading background. Set font colour to white, and font style to bold.

11. Within the columns, create the bullets shown in the example. In the bullets, set the symbols 0.5 cm in, and set font colour to match the burgundy of the band. The bullet text should begin another 0.5 cm after the symbol.

12. In the four places shown in the example, make the superscript settings for the measurement units.

b. Properties 11 points

The table used for completing the exercise contains the data (postal code, room floor-space, total floor-space and asking price) for a few properties in the area. Using these data, you must determine certain indicators and values for the properties, and you must select the properties that meet a given criterion. When solving the exercise, take the following into account: • Use a formula, function or reference in the solution to get the required results even if

the base data are changed. • You can make auxiliary calculations from column P of the worksheet. • If you wish to use the result of an earlier sub-question in another sub-question, but you

have not managed to solve the former entirely, use the solution as it is or try to enter data that you feel is very probable. This will allow you to potentially get points fro the sub-question as well.

1. Load the housedata.txt file, which is UTF-8 encoded and tabulated, so that data placement starts in column A and from the first line. Save the spreadsheet under the name Properties in the default format of the spreadsheet programme.

2. Set the uniform width for columns A:M to 100 points, and set the height for lines 1:2 to 35 points.

3. Merge the cells as shown in the example.

4. Change font style for the content of cells A1:M2 to bold.

5. Align the content of cells A1:M21 to the cell centre both horizontally and vertically. Perform the wrapping of cell content according to the example.

6. On of the most widely-used indicators of property price is price per square metre. This is an informative data that allows us to draw conclusions as to how realistic the asking price in the advertisement is compared to the price of properties in the area. Using a formula, in cells I3:I21 determine the price per square metre of the properties.

7. Using a formula, in cells J3:J21 determine what proportion the total floor-space of the rooms of the various properties is of the entire floor-space of the entire property. Show the results to one decimal place as a percentage.

8. In cells K3:K21 and L3:L21, using copyable formulas, determine how many full (large) rooms and how many so-called small-rooms there are in the given property. Based on its floor-space, a given room is considered to be a full room if floor-size reaches at least the value written in cell N1. During the completion of the exercise, apply a cell reference for cell N1.

9. Using the appropriate function, in cells M3:M21 display a “+” sign if the given property has precisely 2 full rooms and 2 small-rooms. In any other case, the cell must remain empty.

10. Apply borders to the table. Add a double solid line outside around the A1:M2 and the A3:M21 area, and a single solid border inside. Format cell content as shown in the example. Make sure that measurement units are also displayed as shown in the example.

Tibor is looking to renovate his home. After surveying the rooms of the house, he wants to record the measured data and the flooring materials used in a database.

In this exercise, your job is to process the results of the sprint stage of the 2014 Keszthely Triathlon race.

When solving the exercise, take the following into account: • Create your programme so that it yields correct results even with arbitrary data. • Before displaying the results of sub-questions that require results to be shown on

screen, write the question number on the screen (for example: Question 3:)! • If you request data input by the user, you should also display on the screen what data

you require. • When writing the programme, you do not have to verify the correctness and validity of

data; you may assume that the data available is in line with the text. • Text without accents is also accepted.

The lines of the ANSI-encoded results.txt file contain the data of contestants who have finished the race, along with their time results, separated by semicolons.

For example: Mate Nagy;1996;4;m;18-19;00:12:47;00:00:34;00:31:40;00:00:26;00:17:42

The first data is the contestant’s name (text data of maximum 50 characters). The second data is the contestant’s date of birth. The third number is the contestant’s start number (<1000). The fourth data indicates gender code (w = woman, m = man). The fifth data determines contestant category according to age. (The categories: 16-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, elite, elite junior). The following five time data are the times recorded at the race, as follows: swimming times, first transition time, cycling time, second transition time, running time. Time data are stored in the hour:minute:second format. The winner of the race is the contestant whose time, when the five times are added up, is the lowest. Create a programme under the name KeszthelySprint, which solves the following questions.

1. Read the data from the results.txt file and store these in a data structure that is suitable to solve further exercises. The file contains 100 lines at the most.

2. Determine and show on the screen (as shown in the example) how many contestants finished the race.

3. Determine and show on the screen (as shown in the example) how many contestants raced in the “elite junior” category.

4. Determine and show on the screen the average age of contestants to 1 decimal place. Calculate the age of the various contestants using the 2014 - year of birth formula.

5. Request the user to input a category name, then list the start numbers of contestants racing in that category as shown in the example. If the user inputs a non-existent category, display the “Category does not exist” text.

6. Determine and show on the screen (as shown in the example) who was the winner among women based on the time results. When solving the question, you may assume that there was no tie in the race.
