Gümüşlük- Wecameherebydolmuş,ticketpricewas4,5lirasfromBodrumOtogar.Thisisveryniceandsmallvillage.ItisspecialbecauseitispossibletowalktothenearbyRabbitisland(waterisonlyknee-high).AstherewasMyndosanticcityinancienttimes,youcanseetheremainsofthefoundationofthebuildingsunderthewater.Also,seasideisfullofseafoodrestaurantsandviewtotheseaisamazingJButwhenswimming,becarefulwiththeseaurgens!Ifyousteponthemitisanightmaretogettheirneedlesout fromyour leg!

İasos- Thereisalsoanticcity.Onthewaytherearebigcottonfields!InIasosanticcityyoucanfindruinsoftheancientbuildings,alotofolivetreeseverywhere,oldmosaicfloors,buildinginthesea,towhereyoucanwalk.Wealsowenttothearcheologicalmuseum,thisisverysmall,buttherearesomeancientremainsoftheanticcity.Iasosisaniceplacetohaveapicnicandenjoywonderfulviews.Innovemberyoucanpickolivesfromthereandasksomebody toteachyouhowtopreparethem.

Thereareallthedancelessons.InsummertimeitisfulloftouristslikeinBodrum,but inwintertimeeverything isclosedand thetownisveryempty.ButtherearewindmillsandniceviewtoBodrumandifyougodownfromthewindmillshill,youwillfindbeautiful,niceandprivatebeach. Ifyouhavesnorklinggoggles,youcanfindalotofseashellsunderthewaterhere!GümbetisveryclosetoBodrum,youcanevencomehereonfoot(about40minuteswalk).AlsoyoucancatchadolmuşfromOtogar.

Bitez- ThenicestandcleanestbeachofBodrumpeninsulaishere.Alsotherearealotofbreakfastrestaurantsbytheseaside,theyofferverygoodfood(thepricesarefrom10-20liras).Ifyouwalkuntiltheendofthebeachside,thereissmallrockyroadby theseaside.FromherebeginsthewaytotheBitezAquarium-wonderfulviewtotheturquise-blueseaandislands.Ittakesabout45minuteswalktogethere,butitisworthit!Bitezisalsoknownby itstangerinegardens.In november-december itistheseasonoftangerinesandyoucanbuyBiteztangerineseverywhere!ToBitezyoucancomebydolmuş.

Yalıkavak- 18kmfromBodrum.Ifyoucomeherebydolmuş,youcanwalktoSandıma-antiquevillage.Itisinthemountainsandifthereisrainseasons,youcanfindturtlesfromtheponds!Thereareremainsofthe600yearsoldhouses,butthisplaceisperfecttoenjoy thenatureandpeaceofmountains.Bringalsosomeemptybottleswithyou,becausethereisnaturalspringwater.

Ortakent- 7kmfromBodrum.Here,inMuArtCafearesirtakinightseveryweek.Alsouniversity`sfineartsfacultyishere.Ifyouenjoyarts,youcangotoseeBukalemunartgalleryinthebeachpartofthetown.Youcanfindmosaics,ceramicsandpaintingsthereandatmosphereisreallynice. Ondaytimeyoucancomeherewithdolmuş.Itisnicesmalltownandbeforeenteringthetown,onthetopofthehillyoucanseewonderfulviewtotheseaandOrtakent.

BoattripsfromBodrum- AllthetravelagenciesinBodrumofferdailyboattripsonsummerseason(fromMayto15.october) Youcanfindoffersevenwhenwalkingbytheseaside.Theyhavedifferentdestinationsandususallytheycost20liras.Ittakesalmostawholedayfrom11amto5pm.Wewent toBlackIslandboattrip.Ithas5stopsindifferentverybeautifulbluebayswhereyoucanswim.Withsnorklingglassesyoucanseecolourfulfishes.Thepricealsoincludeslunchontheboat.Itisusuallypastawithmeatballsandsalad. TherearealsofreesunsettripseveryTuesday,ThursdayandSaturdayat6pm.Beforethesunsetaboattakespeopletothebaynear thewindmillsandaftersunsetitcomesback.Itisalltogether2hours.

SwimminginBodrum- Seaisonly 10minuteswalkfromtheoffice.Itissoclosethatweswimmedeverymorningbeforework. Ifyouhavetimeandyouwouldliketosunbatheandswimwholeday,youshoulddefinitlelygotoBitezbeach.Inthenightwhenthereisno fullmoon,youshouldasksomebody totakeyou tosomedarkerbeach,becauseitispossibletoseeshinyplancton.Theycallityakamazhereandseeingitisareallywonderfulexperience!

Etrimcarpetvillage-Whenthereistourismseason,travelagenciesoffertourstovillagesandalsotocarpetvillages.OurfriendtookustoEtrimcarpetvillage.Wesawandtouched thesoftestcarpetsever!Andpatternswereamazing!Theyareofcourseveryexpensive,buttotallyhandmadeandin anycaseitisinterestingtoseethiskindofvillage.

BodrumCastle

Thecastleisinexcellentcondition, itnowhousesaoneoftheworld'sfinestmuseums(withexhibitsonunderwaterarchaeology).MostlystonesusedintheconstructioncomefromthetombofkingMausoleumofHalicarnassus.Mausoleum’smassiveconstructionsurvived forcenturiesuntilanearthquakebrought itdowninmedievaltimes.Theknightsusedtheruinsasastonequarry.In1522,whilereinforcingthecastle,theyevendiscovered thefunerarychamberoftheking,whose treasureswerequicklylooted. Inthe15thcenturyAD,theKnightsofStJohn invadedtheregion(whoseheadquarterswereonRhodesIsland)andbeganconstructingthecastlethatweseetoday.(www.bodrum.org)

Weatherandnature inBodrumSeptember-hotweather(30-37),alotoftourists.Youcangotoboat trips.Seasonoffigs,grapes,watermelonsandpeaches.October-weatherisstillwarm(24-28),butthereisnotsomanypeopleanymore.Boattripsarefinishedinthemiddleoftheoctober.Difficulttofindfigsandpeaches.Seasonofbananas,pomegranatesandorangesstarts.November- weatherisnot sowarmanymore(around20)andthereisveryveryfewpeopleinthestreets.Everybody isgoingtoworkinIstanbulorIzmirinwintertimeandBodrumisempty.WewerestillswimmingeverymorninginNovember,butwaterisnot sowarmanymoreandlocalpeople thoughtweare crazyJ Seasonofolives,tangerines,oranges,pomegranates,andbananas.December-weatherischillyandintheeveningsyouneedawarmcoat.Electricitybreakdownsareusualandsometimesthereisverycold in theapartment.Seasonoftangerines,oranges.

Shopping inBodrumFoodbazaar- everyFridaythereisbigbazaarnearbusstation(youhavetogoup fromthestairsofthebusstationbuilding).Youcanfind allkindsoffruits,vegetables,dairyproducts,nuts,olivesandspicesfromthere.Butwhenitistourismseasonitisveryexpensive.ThereisalsoalternativeforthisJ EveryMonday thereissmallfoodbazaarneartoourapartment.(ifyougototheAtatürkstreetandturnleft,walkuntilyouseethebazaarontheleft,about300meters).Here is thecheapestgözlemeintown,only2,5liras(usuallyinotherplacesitis5liras)anditisfreshandwarm.Supermarkets- thecheapestisCarrefour,itisalsoveryclosetoourhome.(ifyougoout fromtheapartment,turn rightandwalkabout200metersuntilyouseeCarrefourontheright).TheyarebringingnewgoodseveryMondayandWednesday.Sometimesvegetablesareevencheaperherethaninbazaar.Fromthereyoucanfindalmosteverythingbuttheyarequitefarfromhome.ButevenbiggerandcheapersupermarketsareKipaandMetro (Makro),buttheseareoutsideofBodrumandyoucantwalkthere.Clothes- youcanbuyclothesfromOasisshoppingcentre,MidtownMall,AvenueBodrumor fromclothesbazaaronTuesdays(atthesameplacewhereisbigfoodbazaar)Bakeries- Therearealotofbakerieseverywhere inBodrum,butourfavouritebakery isthenearesttoourhome,itisverygoodandalsocheap.
