SOLUTION BRIEF Infoblox + Riverbed ® Combined WAN Optimization and Core Network Services In typical IT environments, most organizations maintain dedicated servers in remote offices for local delivery of core network services. These services include DNS, DHCP, and RADIUS that help ensure connectivity and performance for remote office users attaching to the network. For example, every time a user connects to the network DHCP is used to obtain an IP address. Every time the user accesses the Internet, or uses common applications such as email, or logs onto their Windows domain, DNS is used. RADIUS authentication is required for securing wireless networks, which are increasingly deployed at remote locations. The loss of these core services is crippling to nearly all network applications, and yet, these services are often delivered in an ad hoc manner on general purpose platforms scattered throughout the organization without centralized management. With the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP), companies can run Infoblox’s Core Network Services on a Riverbed Steelhead ® appliance as virtual machines on an embedded VMware platform in a protected partition.
