A state-of-the-art open network data mining platform provides end-to-end visibility in real-time at the lowest cost. It must be flexible and scalable to maintain optimal performance. It promotes interoperability across ecosystems and within organizations to speed up innovation.

The Expand platform has been implemented at a tier 1 European operator willing to replace its 10-year-old monitoring platform architecture. Use Cases

ApplicationsVoIPIn VoIP networks, voice quality shows more variation compared to fixed circuit networks. To get a clear view of the overall service quality, operators need to monitor huge volume of traffic generated in the user plane. This requires certified algorithms to evaluate the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) and high processing performance to make it applicable on a significant number of calls. These capabilities are embedded in Expandium’s solutions for VoIP.

VoLTEVoLTE involves various technologies including mobile radio, packet core and VoIP gathered to enable a user to call on an LTE network. An efficient tool requires true end-to-end correlation capabilities across all these technologies in addition to basic VoIP capabilities enabling operators to easily monitor and troubleshoot.

CEM & VIP MonitoringOperators can benefit from customer centric applications to manage groups of premium subscribers. These are the operator’s most

Expand Analytics PlatformExpandium’s solutions for mobile network operators rely on latest technologies to offer a fast and future-proof experience for users. These technologies include a powerful hardware layer taking advantage of non-intrusive probes and high performance databases specifically designed for Big Data. Third party vendors can access the data through APIs to build a wide variety of business applications.

This underlying infrastructure to all Expandium’s applications can easily evolve with customer needs. It consists of a set of Linux servers connected via various links to data-collecting probes but also on various and third-party data sources. The Expand Platform is totally vendor-independent.

Traffic is captured 24/7 in real-time, on E1, STM and Ethernet links, whether copper or optical. These probes are compatible with all the signalling interfaces and protocols used in 2G, 3G, LTE, VoLTE, VoIP and VoWiFi networks.

Expandium collects and processes data using traditional and breakthrough methods such as stream processing, machine learning, pattern detection and parallel processing. Metrics are then delivered through comprehensive and easy-to-use interactive dashboards.

xDRact is the technology designed and used by Expandium to create custom KPIs on xDRs directly from the xDRs collected from Expandium’s probes, and stored in its Big Data databases. An xDRact is a periodic table of custom KPIs and filters configured by the user.

The user can display an xDRact’s results in a single or multiple dashboards. A single dashboard can display various KPIs/metrics based on the results of one or several xDRacts selected by the user.

MonitorQOS is a solution intended for advanced monitoring with KPI building and data mining capabilities. The product has been developed for generic and structured data streams. A basic and advanced filter editor allows the user to set simple and complex conditions and expressions manually or with few clicks. The editor has a previewing feature and a condition clipboard for convenience.

MonitorQOS enables user-defined KPIs, in real-time, from the entire fields of CDRs in order to maintain the operator’s Quality-of-Service (QoS). Operators can process and analyze massive amount of data with just a few clicks.

Radio Access Network and well-known radio interfaces are critical components of the network’s overall quality-of-service. Geolocation

OptimRAN has an embedded geolocation feature enabling a cartographic representation of various key information for network optimization procedures.

SecureQOS for VoIP & VoLTE

MOS Measurement

When dealing with voice, it is mandatory to evaluate real quality experienced by users. VoIP analysis requires processing of all speech frames on a huge number of VoIP user plane streams to provide an overall score (MOS) related to call voice quality. Along with this score, SecureQOS provides information about the cause of encountered degradation like echo, packet loss, delay variation and more.

It is also possible to activate interval metrics providing MOS on short interval of time during the call to have a more detailed analysis of these calls.

The results are then displayed in a graphical way to make analysis very fast and efficient, pinpointing troubles and their types after a single look at graphs.

Smart Filtering

To optimize the solution’s resources usage, users can define smart filtering allowing detailed analysis on some user-defined groups while keeping an overall analysis on the entire calls. Users can then define a strategy with different group of calls having different level of details. Analysis may go as deep as looking at each speech frame, one by one.

VoIP & VoLTE Applications

VoIP monitoring mainly deals with user plane measurements. SecureQOS for VoIP and VoLTE correlates RTP analysis with SIP signalling to provide the complete view of the service. When dealing with VoLTE, a new level of complexity is added due to the interaction with mobile networks mechanisms. SecureQOS also correlates LTE and IMS based interfaces.
