OUR MISSION WHO WE ARE WHAT WE DO WAYS YOU CAN HELP ABCs Poor education + poverty = no hope The of South Africa spends a bigger share of its gross domestic product on education than any other country in Africa. 1 AND YET… Many children have to navigate a broken school experience fraught with irregular attendance, absent teachers, teen pregnancy, and school-related abuse and violence. In fact, officially, 25% of South Africans are unemployed; the real figure is probably nearer 40%. Yet there are 800,000+ job vacancies in the private sector alone. 2 That gap is precisely what Inkululeko aims to fill. Inkululeko takes learners from as early as 8th grade and helps them get the most from their education through: $ $ 27% Around of public schools do not have running water 1 78% are without libraries 1 78% do not have computers 1 THE RESULT Heavily woven into the local Grahamstown community we serve. Staffed with qualified employees knowledgeable of the local culture. Backed by a Board of Directors made up of citizens from across the globe, as well as a Board of Advisors made up of local community members. In regular collaboration with Rhodes University and Syracuse University. WE ARE Academic and social support during high school. Assistance in applying to and attending a university or trade school. Resources until they are gainfully employed. OUR FOCUS OUR APPROACH REMEDIAL TEACHING Ensure students understand basic yet essential concepts. CURRENT CLASSROOM Assist students in their current classroom learning. LIFE SKILLS Equip learners with skills like leadership, critical thinking and decision-making. COLLABORATION Work with home, school, and community partners to ensure all needs of learners are being met. Personalized attention from tutors Experiential, hands-on learning Social enterprise learning through a small business startup Long-term mentorships with working professionals and community leaders A focus on language and mathematics Small group learning and conversations Help Inkululeko accelerate its mission by becoming a volunteer or making a gift.
